Pet Pride of New York

Pet Pride of New York Pet Pride is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization which operates a no-kill sanctuary for homeless and abandoned cats and kittens.

Once a cat is admitted to Pet Pride, they stay with us for as long as it takes to find a loving adoptive home.

We are always so grateful for all of the folks who consistently support Pet Pride through volunteering, attending events, adoptions, and donations. Our kitties are the lucky recipients of all of your goodwill and we wouldn't be as successful without all of you! ❀️

While most of you made your New Year's resolutions last week, we're hoping that you will make just one more for 2025.

We would LOVE your help spreading the story of Pet Pride and all that we do for homeless cats and kittens. 😸 It's really easy, super helpful and absolutely free! Please like, comment, follow and share our posts with your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family, actually, everyone you know! It's a win-win! Your small gesture will tell the world about Pet Pride and help place more felines into loving homes! πŸ’•

We said goodbye to 2024 just over twenty-four hours ago. As we look back on a great year full of adoptions, fun, and new experiences, we thought that we would highlight a few of our favorites! From a wonderful surprise gift from Mr. Golisano to finally matching two kitties, who spent over 600 days at the shelter, with their purr-fect people, this past year has had a multitude of incredible moments.

🐾 We found a loving family for Mary, a 20 year old cat
🐾 Folks had so much fun participating in new community events like the Feline Photo Fest, Whiskeys & Whiskers, Peace & Purrs Cat Yoga, Kittens on the Catwalk, and Poorly Drawn Pets. All of these events helped to raise money to support all of the cats in our care.
🐾 Two stray cats were returned to their heartbroken owners through the diligence of our fantastic staff
🐾 505 surgeries were performed by our volunteer vets in the Healing Paws Medical Center
🐾 Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Alie, a resident Pet Pride cat for 15 years, after a battle with cancer
🐾 843 cats and kittens found loving homes, once again, breaking our adoption record for the year!

We are so grateful for the amazing people (staff, volunteers, our community) who supported Pet Pride in 2024, and excited we're for what 2025 will bring! Cheers! πŸ₯‚

That's it, that's all, goodbye 2024!

There are just a few more hours until we welcome the new year, so we thought that we would send a HUGE, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Pet Pride this year, and since 1977. Without our staff, volunteers, board, medical staff, rescue partners, donors, and generous community, we would not be able to provide services to all of the homeless cats and kittens in our care. Because of all of you, we placed 100 felines into loving homes in December alone! A record number of adoptions in a single month at the shelter! 🐈 πŸ’• 🍾

This adorable grey kitten named WAYNE was our 100th adoption of December and the last kitty to find his new family in 2024. He cannot wait to meet his new big brother, Oscar, and is excited to see what 2025 will bring!

"Arrrrg!" said BLACKBEARD!

This adorable "pirate" gentleman was adopted today after recovering from enucleation surgery. His admitter said that he was hanging out around her business for about a year. She would feed him and make sure he was safe. During that time, she noticed that he was friendly and contacted Pet Pride for admission.

We evaluated his health and took a careful look at his right eye in our Healing Paws Medical Center. It was determined that, although it didn't bother him, a previous injury to the eye would present ongoing health issues. Our wonderful veterinarians removed his eye and stitched him up good as new!

He has spent just over a week with his new parents while recovering from the surgery and setting in. Today, they made it official and that they decided that he needed a new name. This cutie is now LUCKY, and we think that it's a purr-fect name!

🐾 He was lucky to have a guardian angel in his admitter,
🐾 luck was on his side when he came to Pet Pride where we could provide medical services,
🐾 and, his luck is certainly overflowing because he found amazing, loving new parents and will live a long, happy and healthy life away from the dangers of living outside ❀️

May luck always be on your side, LUCKY! Happy Adoption Day!

When our staff arrived this morning, things were a bit quieter than usual. They thought maybe it's the post-holiday relaxation period or the kitties were just taking a catnap. Then they remembered that our biggest talker, SWEATER WEATHER, was adopted last night and they couldn't be happier! ☺️

After meeting her, Paul, her new dad, couldn't wait to adopt her to hear all of her stories. We know that he will give this sweet senior lady a lifetime of snuggles and an eager ear anytimes she has something to say! ❀️

Pet Pride has been matching felines with their loving families since 1977 and we have witnessed a wide variety of emotions from folks on adoption day. Today was especially memorable.

It's Christmas Eve, and, very appropriately, GLIMMER and SPARKLE went home with this wonderful family. They were hoping to fill their home with some special holiday vibes since losing their senior cat recently. After hanging out with the kitten siblings, they decided that they were a purr-fect match! Once the final decision was made, the young gentleman exclaimed with excitement, "Really! It's a Christmas Miracle!" πŸŽ„

Well, maybe not a miracle, but definitely a match that will give this beautiful family a lifetime of love and happiness! Congratulations!
