Its national Mosquito Day today. Not thrilled about this species but are happy to educate how these little insects can do harm on our beloved pets.
When a mosquito bites an animal that has been infected with heartworms, it picks up the heartworm larvae. When that same mosquito bites your dog or cat, those heartworms are transmitted onto the skin near the mosquito bite. After the mosquito leaves, the larvae actively migrate into the bite wound infecting your pet.
Heartworm disease is a serious threat that can cause permanent damage to your pets heart and arteries of the lungs. In the most severe cases, heartworm disease can be fatal.
This disease is easy to prevent though! We have tasty chews to be given monthly. Even an injection that can last between 6-12 months!

One of our technicians found this cute puppy on the side of the road and couldn't help herself so she picked him up. I mean how could you resist... his face 😍 He is looking for his forever home!! (No rehoming fee) She is paying for the vet cost; he has gotten his Bordatella, Rabies and Distemper/Parvo vaccines. He is about four months old. Please call the clinic if you are interested!!

Today I adopted a human...
It broke my heart to see him so alone and confused. I suddenly saw his watery eyes as he looked into mine. So I barked with all my might and went after him, following from house to house.
Finally, I got close enough to touch his hand with my nose. The man smiled and I felt his heart begin to warm. I moved closer to his face and felt his tears start to flow. I looked at him and he replied with a beautiful smile.
I jumped into his lap excitedly, promising
that I would be fine, that I would love him forever, and that I would never leave
him. How fortunate that he passed by where I was and that we could meet like
that. I felt lucky too.
So many people have been there, but only he, only he, stopped looked at me. I'm
glad he made a choice and that I was able to save his life.
Today I adopted a human.

*Pro Tip* The best way to start getting your puppy used to coming to the vet is just to bring them in and weigh them and let them get used to the surroundings around a vet clinic.
