Rattlesnake bites in pets are a serious emergency and require immediate veterinary care. Rattlesnakes are venomous and can cause a range of symptoms in pets, including pain, swelling, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and even death. If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a rattlesnake, seek veterinary attention immediately.

If your dog is frequently taken around an area where it might stumble upon rattlesnakes, or if you live in an area where he/she is exposed to rattlesnakes, vaccination is crucial. The rattlesnake vaccination can reduce the impact of a rattlesnake’s bite if your dog does happen to get bitten, and reduce or eliminate the need for antivenom, in addition to decreasing other treatment costs.

Today is National K9 Veterans Day!
This day is set aside to commemorate the service and sacrifices of American military and working dogs throughout history. It was on March 13, 1942, that the Army began training for its new War Dog Program, also known as the "K-9 Corps," according to American Humane, marking the first time that dogs were officially a part of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Today's military dogs are valued as important members of their military units and even have their own retirement ceremonies, awards and medals and memorial services.
