Have you seen this insect? If so - kill them every time and dispose of the body.
These are various species of Kissing Bugs. They carry a potentially deadly disease called Chagas which is contagious to humans, dogs and other mammals.
We see several dogs each year affected by this disease and if symptoms are present the dog has a high likelihood of death.

Symptoms include:
- Lethargy
- Weight loss
- Difficulty breathing
- Swollen abdomen

To help prevent the spread of this disease:

1. Seal cracks/crevices around homes
2. Remove woodpiles/rock piles near living areas
3. Use screens on windows/doors
4. Use insecticides indoors and around doorways
6. ***Give Bravecto to your dogs every 90 days. Bravecto has been shown to kill kissing bugs and reduce the transmission of Chagas disease.

Texas A&M Univeristy always studying the spread of this disease and has some great information for you to read:

Hello, everyone! Just giving an update because I know it’s been a while since I’ve been on here. I had my surgery at the beginning of September and have been progressing right along. We were doing a very light schedule for the first six weeks. I am going to be taking on more since I am up and moving quite a bit. I still have help, so there may be days you don’t see me. Just know that I’m here and slowly working my way back into full-time. Again, if anyone needs us, please feel free to reach me on my cell phone or at the office. You can also send me a private message through messenger. I will be updating the machine so that you can leave messages on it since I am now able to go over there and work a little bit to check it.
Thank you guys for your patience. I am so ready to be back 100%.

As of right now, I am full for the next five weeks. If any of my returning clients need me, it will be case by case for approval. Please, still continue to call my cell phone and I can put you on a waitlist. As soon as I get released from my doctor, I’ll be taking on more. Thank you for your patience. This is rough on all of us. Can’t wait to be back 100%!

Just a reminder, I have my cell phone number on the office phone recording. Do not leave a message at the office. I probably will not get it. I left my cell phone on that recording on purpose so if anyone is looking for reservations, they can reach me direct. Regulars, feel free to text me dates so that I can reply quickly. I am out for six weeks due to a hip surgery. I have people covering at the office, but they do not answer phones or manage the books. Thank you.

Good morning. Well, I made it through surgery. Glad it’s over. Ready to get this healing going so I can get back to the office and work. I am working messages and appointments from bed so if anyone needs to reach us, please contact me on my cell phone. (361-894-1018) Feel free to text your dates to me because that will be a faster way to get scheduled. I’m trying to follow up any of those that may have reached out prior to surgery. If you have not heard back from me, please reach out just to confirm that we do have you set up.
WE ARE NOW FULL FOR CHRISTMAS, Dec 23-26.

Thank you!

Schedule update. Surgery was approved and I will be having surgery tomorrow, in Houston. As stated before, I will be out for a minimum of six weeks. We are only taking pre-established dogs and cats during this timeframe because Mary Anne and Paul will be covering the light schedule that we have. I will still be on my cell phone, so if regulars need anything, please feel free to message me.

Thank you.

Well, looks like there’s going to be a delay in my surgery because insurance is dragging their feet on sending the authorization back. As of right now, I will still take some bookings. If you need to reach me, please do not call the office phone. I have the machine turned off because I know at some point we will be closing and taking a light load. For the time being, please reach out to me through my cell phone so that I can get your messages direct since I will be in and out of the office so much. If you don’t have that cell phone number, it is 361-894-1018. If you are a regular looking for dates, don’t worry about leaving a voicemail, if you could just text me your dates I can respond to you faster. Thank you.

08/27/2024

Just a reminder that we will open on Labor Day, but only from 9 o’clock until 10 o’clock, and 4 o’clock to 5 o’clock. Please let us know which time you would like when picking up your dogs from the long holiday. Thank you.
