Just walkin’ to the beat 🎶
This is Max, a 4 year old Pit Bull mix who has been coming to VSCR Leesburg for rehabilitation sessions after a right TPLO and medial patellar luxation (MPL) with Dr. Jim Taylor in April. Max has been doing so well, especially in our underwater treadmill for hydrotherapy!
Our rehab team does a great job of motivating our patients to keep on trekking along, whether it’s using toys, treats or simply encouraging them happily with each step 💚 Keep it going, Max! Great job!
We’re passionate about getting your pet back to being a pet. And that’s because no matter what happens in life, we want to do everything WE can to make sure that your pet gets back to living the BEST and FULLEST life possible! ✨
For example, meet Oliver - a 5 year old mixed breed who had a right caudal toe fracture last fall. Through many rehabilitation sessions at VSCR Leesburg including shockwave therapy, underwater treadmill and land exercises, he has healed beautifully! 💚
So needless to say, we were absolutely thrilled to receive this message from Oliver Polansky’s mom:
"When [Oliver] broke his toe, I thought he’d never be able to do his most favorite thing ever… run in the snow. Well, check him out this morning! You guys really are THE BEST and we honestly cannot thank you enough!" 😍
🔊 *SOUND ON* 🔊
At VSCR, we proudly say that ‘Your Pets Are Our Priority’ - that’s because it’s true! Even when we’re having fun blasting music during hydrotherapy sessions, we’ll be quiet when your pet has something to say… because their voice matters and they deserve to be heard! 😉🤣
Meet Leon, our sweet (and talkative) 2 year old cat who was seen by Dr. Anke Langenbach earlier this year for a bilateral luxated patella. Dr. Langenbach recommended that Leon try going through rehabilitation before jumping into surgery! 😻
Leon has been coming to VSCR Vienna for rehabilitation sessions and has been doing so well. While he’s been getting laser therapy and doing plenty of standing exercises with the rehab team, he especially loves going into our underwater treadmill! 💚

Kensey - Shockwave Therapy
Did you know that VSCR offers shockwave therapy? We have chosen to use the Piezowave2 Vet Shockwave Therapy by ELvation Medical! While there are different types of shockwave therapy out there, our Piezowave2 shockwave uses piezoelectric elements to create a focused pressure pulse to a targeted area, which benefits your pet with reduced inflammation, helps to control pain and promote healing! 💚
This is Kensey, an 11 year old chocolate lab who has bilateral hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. She has been coming to rehab to build up her gluten and improve her range of motion. She’s been doing great - but recently, her owner noticed some persistent “shuffling” in her back legs while going on walks. Chronic arthritis and hip dysplasia can cause a reduction in joint range of motion, so our rehabilitation practitioner Kirsty Oliver decided to add Shockwave Therapy to her rehab program.
Watch this short clip of what Shockwave Therapy looks like. This provided amazing results! Kensey is back to picking up her feet and acting like a puppy again 😊
Pookie’s Rehab Session!
What does a rehabilitation session at VSCR look like? Come follow Pookie!
Pookie Thompson is the sweetest 14 year old Cocker Spaniel grandma who has been coming to VSCR for the past year. Over the past six months, Pookie has improved her mobility using the stairs and keeping up on her 1/2 mile daily walks!
Here are a couple highlights of Pookie’s visits: land therapy using cavalettis and weaving around cones but more importantly, getting lots of love and treats from our rehab technicians 😂😍 Go Pookie!!!

#FeelGoodFriday: Lily Fox
It’s time for #FeelGoodFriday!
This is Lily Fox, a 4 year old German Shepherd. She has been coming to VSCR in Vienna since last year to improve her comfort and muscle mass. Last month, she received a new hip through a left total hip arthroplasty surgery performed by Dr. Anke Langenbach. Lily continued coming back to her rehab sessions and she’s been doing so well. She just restarted her aquatic therapy sessions earlier this week with our rehab practitioner Kirsty Oliver! Here she is getting a wonderful massage 💕
Happy Friday, everyone! Have a wonderful weekend! 😊
#FeelGoodFriday: Gaucho
It’s time for #FeelGoodFriday (yes, we’re making this a thing now!) 😊
Gaucho is a 2 year old Labrador Retriever mix who was seen for forelimb lameness. He was diagnosed with a right humeral head OCD lesion, which is an inflammatory condition caused by a separation of diseased cartilage from the bone. He also had heart worm disease and a heart murmur, as well, which our friends at CVCA are treating him for! Dr. Justin Ganjei of our VSC Vienna location performed a right shoulder arthroscopy for him, which successfully helped with his lameness.
Gaucho was sent over to VSCR for rehab sessions, which has been helping him to walk better as well as managing his pain. He’s been recovering well and doing much better at home! 🙌
Here he is in the middle of one of his rehab sessions, enjoying a wonderful massage from our certified rehabilitation practitioner Kirsty Oliver! Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend! 💚
Truman Has a Lot to Say!
It’s the middle of the week and we’re already looking forward to the weekend… but definitely not as much as Truman looks forward to his rehab sessions! 🙌
Truman is a 9 year old English Bulldog who has been coming to VSCR since August for pain management. He has been getting weekly acupuncture sessions along with massage therapy, laser and therapeutic exercises. He’s such a happy dog who loves seeing Dr. Weber and Kirsty Oliver - with a whole lot to say! (Volume UP!) 😍 😍
Thanks to Truman's mom Tamara for sending in this video!

Charlie is a 6 year old Miniature Pinscher mix who showed lameness on his left side after a recent injury. He has been coming into VSCR in our Vienna location for conservative cruciate disease treatment options. Here he is doing a land exercise with our rehabilitation practitioner Kirsty and assistant Savannah - look at him shimmy backwards!
It’s great to see improvement throughout his sessions because he definitely couldn’t do this a month ago :-)

Just keep walking… the weekend is almost here :-)
Karma Friedman is a beautiful 2 year old Giant Schnauzer mix who initially came to VSCR for help with left limb lameness and bilateral iliopsoas pain. After a year, she is doing so much better and continues to come in for hydrotherapy and acupuncture!
Look at her walking so well on our underwater treadmill :-) Go Karma!
WILL WALK FOR TREATS.
WILL WALK FOR TREATS. We feel the same way, Vinka ;-)
Vinka is a 10 year old Samoyed who has been a long time patient of VSC/ VSCR! She initially came in for chronic forelimb lameness and arthritis. Recently, she has been receiving treatment for bilateral elbow degenerative joint disease. She has been coming in monthly to our Vienna VSCR location for hydrotherapy and laser sessions to help with her motor skills and comfort level. She’s so fluffy and adorable - we love having her! <3
