Thank you for inviting us to do a Lunch & Learn at your hospital yesterday! Our lead anesthesia LVT, Tiffany, gave a wonderful presentation on Radiographic Techniques for the Goode Creek Veterinary Hospital team. We had a great discussion and enjoyed chatting with the team members! Also, of course they were doing a dental in the background — this is , right? 😂

Are you a local vet clinic in the DMV area looking for a lunch and learn from one of our specialists and/or technicians? Contact us at marketing @ vscvets.com! 🙌🏼

This morning, we had a wonderful companywide All Hands Meeting at the beautiful Reston Lake House, where all of our staff from Vienna & Leesburg, VA as well as our new Gaithersburg, MD location gathered together. It was nice to see everyone mingling, especially those who don't get to see each other often!

We listened to Dr. Anke Langenbach give a brief history of VSC from when she first started this company as a small mobile practice in 2004 to the immense growth that we've all seen over the past 20 years! Our new hospital director Christel also guided us on her vision of where she sees us going for 2025, and we ended the meeting by celebrating work anniversaries of our staff who have been with us for 5 years (Courtney, Jen and Joia!), 10 years (Kevin), and even 15 years (congrats Dr. Hawthorne!) The gorgeous views of Lake Anne helped us all start the day off on a calm and peaceful note.

We're so appreciative of our dedicated employees who work so hard daily to make sure that their patients are taken care of and in good health. Thank you all, 🧡 💚!

We had a lot of fun this week celebrating our support staff on-site and appreciating them for their dedication to specialty veterinary medicine.

From our surgery, rehabilitation, neurology & internal medicine departments in Vienna, Leesburg & Gaithersburg… thank you LVTs & vet assistants!!! 🧡

We had a great time yesterday at the event!! Our very own Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Natalia and Elias, enjoyed getting to know the students and chatting with them about what veterinary surgery is all about. As a teaching hospital, we love being able to share our knowledge and passion of specialty and look forward to help raise up a new generation of LVTs in the future!

Some go bobbing for apples 🍎 but Whaler says it’s SO much more fun to bob for toys! 🤩

Whaler is a 1 year old Golden Retriever who comes to VSCR Vienna for rehabilitation sessions to manage bilateral hip dysplasia. His rehab practitioner Lynn Nalepa and the rest of the rehab team are working with him consistently to strengthen his hip muscles and get him walking better!

He loves coming in for hydrotherapy, where he gets to “play” in our underwater treadmill. He has such a fun time bobbing for toys and even likes to blows bubbles under the water, which is too cute!! 🫧

Keep at it, Whaler! 🐳💚

Noodle is a 1 year old mixed breed rescue dog who has been coming to VSCR Leesburg for rehabilitation sessions after getting a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO). Her goals were to improve range of motion and build muscle mass!

Through consistent visits with Dr. Nandita Fernandes and our Leesburg team, Noodle has improved significantly with no more limping or lameness on the hip! We’re so proud of her hard work. She graduated from our rehab program a few months ago 💚

There’s nothing like a cute pup to get you going through the week! 😍

Meet Dublin, a 5 month old miniature dachshund who came to VSC Vienna for a right tibia fracture repair with Dr. Anke Langenbach and surgical resident Dr. Meg Goodale.

Dr. L was so happy to give him tons of cuddles 🧡 for being such a good doggo throughout the whole process. Get well soon, Dublin!

Just a friendly reminder that while you might be looking forward to 🇺🇸 4th of July 🇺🇸 festivities this holiday weekend, your pup may NOT be as excited! From distracting group gatherings in the hot sun to loud and scary fireworks explosions at night, this can be a dangerous time for our pets.

Please make sure to take the necessary steps for your pet to have an enjoyable & stress-free weekend, as well:

⭐️ Check that their collar/tag and microchip information are all up to date

⭐️ Secure your fence gates and doors so that they can’t escape

⭐️ Stock up on prescription meds or veterinarian approved calming chews to ease their anxiety

⭐️ Create a safe space for them by closing windows, putting on white noise or soothing music to muffle sounds from the outside festivities and give them a special toy or treat

⭐️ Keep them cool indoors, with access to fresh water

Sadly, this tends to be the time of year when 30-60% more pets are reported missing, with only 14% returned to their owners. Let’s work together to beat these statistics and have a safe Independence Day! 💙❤️🤍

By the way, pictured is Bear Lucas, an 11 year old Golden Retriever mix who recently came in for a bilateral caudal sublumbar lymph node removal with Dr. Julia Hawthorne. He is also under the care of Dr. Sarah McMillan from Hope Center’s Oncology department. We hope you feel better with your emotional support stuffy, Bear 🥰

Thank you to all of our rDVMs who attended our VSC x PetMedic Urgent Care CE this past Wednesday evening! We had a great time starting with a tour of the .alexandria facility, followed by a wonderful dinner at Josephine where our surgical residents gave presentations for the CE.

✨ Dr. David McChesney spoke on “Brachycephalic Airways and Laryngeal Paralysis Cases”, while Dr. Meg Goodale spoke on “Lumps & Bumps - Oncologic Surgery”. It was great to have the PetMedic team there with us, and enjoyed being able to share about our partnership together in the community to provide quality veterinary care for all pets. We hope to do this again in the future! 🙌🏼

Huge thanks to for providing a gorgeous space for our CE event, and for feeding our group with delicious food & drinks!!! Highly recommend 💯

Our Story

In 2004, Dr. Anke Langenbach set out to redefine veterinary surgical care in the region by starting a small mobile surgery service that championed the highest standards of care and compassion. For several years, she and a team of one or two technicians traveled to local veterinary practices and performed orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries.

That service has blossomed into a full-scale surgery, physical rehabilitation, and pain management practice with three full-time locations—in Vienna, Leesburg, and Winchester—and a staff of 70 passionate and dedicated individuals. Meet our team of board-certified surgeons and certified rehabilitation practitioners. We've built a loyal base among local primary veterinarians and pet owners, who entrust us with the care of their patients and pets every day.
