As I was getting ready to write this post Fish, my own puppy, came in running with scissors that he stole off the kitchen counter. He is a skilled counter surfer. (We are working on this) Right now “drop it” to him means run fast as you can. (we are working on this too) Luckily I could trade the scissors for a toy. That’s when Rocky Officer JJ and Lexi start in. Enjoy and have a great evening. Lexie is the pup in the polkadot harness. I’m so glad I caught a little shenanigans to share.

Herc was a true rock star today!!
He returned to hydrotherapy, we are hoping to build muscle especially in his low back and hips, improve his ability to get around, improve his all around health and help him FEEL like a rock star.
Thank you everyone who sent “no pooping” vibes, they worked.
He loaded up in Aunt Terry’s car like a pro, he needed a little help getting out when he got home because he was wiped out. (Special thanks to Aunt Terry for bringing Herc knowing his issues in her new car.)
His IBD is improving, his skin continues to break out but it clears quickly. He has had 2 microbubbles recently and more often than not with the microbubble, the skin issues get worse before they get better. In Herc’s case, his skin issues are a reflection of what is going on inside. He joined us with all of these issues, we have been able to help him feel better but his recent flare up of IBD has been rough.
Herc is such a gentle giant and loving soul. He deserves the best we can give him.
Roo is back in the treadmill and doing really well! Towards the end of the video she does some fancy walking on her side! Go Roo!
Herc has improved a bit, Benny, Mitzi and Meadow are no better, no worse. With super seniors with multiple, serious health issues-not doing worse is considered a win.
Have a great evening.
Today Legend’s bestie Jan (who is famous for epic adventures with handicap-able pups) took Dan to Brigantine beach for a good old fashioned fun on the beach. Dan met some little kids which he thought were the bees knees, then they hopped over to Atlantic City. Dan and Jan had burgers and crab cakes at the Back Bay Ale House and they finished off on the beach with Dan leaving his “mark” on the beach (no it wasn’t poo). Dan made lots of new friends today. He has come so far from his shy days.
Aunt Claire, Aunt Beth and Uncle Stan kept the rest of the pups fed, happy and feeling very loved.
Tomorrow we will share pics with some other pups having a blast….
Have a great evening.
Every night before JJ goes to bed, he uses the pee pad then climbs up in bed and starts itching his back. If you try to help him, he will remove a finger……
Herc sings for dinner and then shows you his special move that always gets me up and moving! Cameo’s by Mitzi and Benny. Volume up❤️
Aunt Nancy took Chase to see the eye doctor today. Aunt Nancy was in super sleuth mode so JJ doesnt know. Shhhhh🤣
Aunt Beth kept the pups busy with the cold laser, some massage and lots of love. Aunts Holly and Claire braved the breakfast shift.
Then Herc and Carbon decided to cause a bit of ruckus. That is Rocky in the back with his stuffy and the narrator of the event was Sadie. You cant see her but you sure can hear her!
Have a great evening.
Thanks to the magic of Aunt Holly, here is a fun clip of a few of our pups having a little fun in the snow.
Spoiler alert, Dan thinks snow is the coolest thing ever!
Hi Monkey’s House family, we wish you Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and a healthy and happy New Year.
Enjoy the pups Santa video. A great way to kickoff your holiday.
Love,
Michele, Jeff, the Aunts & Uncles, and all the pups
Pepper pie (on the chair) was showing off her fancy play moves to her new friend.❤️
What a joy it is to see Mitzi come out of her shell. She is 14, pretty darned blind and deaf. She came to us from South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter after her owner passed. Starting over is never easy but Mitzi has been very sweet and polite. We are ecstatic to see her act frisky. Go Mitzi!
Have a great evening.
Watch Darla roll the ball in the end! Aunt Beth is the genius and the videographer behind all of this. Keeping Darla strong and happy is our primary concern since she came to us from the shelter paralyzed and with mamary cancer that had metastasized.
Monkey's House was formed as a nonprofit in 2015. We pull dogs from shelters with life limiting diagnoses and use an integrative palliative care approach until it is time to switch gears and embrace hospice care. I post every night on fb in hope of inspiring others to embrace palliative and hospice care for their own pets.
'Have a wonderful evening!
Look at Dan FLY! He is visiting Aunt Holly for the week and she has a house full of young playful pups!
Dottie is bunking with Aunt Claire this week.
JJ, Fuzzy, Benny, Meadow, Bonnie, Lexie and Chase headed to the bay with me.
Jeff and the rest of the pups are bunking in the family room and cottage while some much needed repairs are done. Things are going exceptionally well all things considered.
Thank you to everyone who has purchased our calendars, this has been a challenging year financially for everyone, Monkey's House included. We appreciate your support.
Enjoy Dan spreading some joy at a very high rate of speed.
Have a great day.
***Editing to add that Dan has a cart that fits him well. He is walked in it twice a day. He is just cutting loose and having fun in this video. I apologize for being unclear. People who question my truthfulness can go to our main page and see him in his cart. People who are disrespectful are being blocked. Dan is different, his back legs do not work, he is a very happy dog. If that isnt clear to you in this video than I will pray for you and still block you.
This is the cutest 43 seconds you will see today. Cameo’s by Lexie and Benny❤️.
Have a great evening.

Palliative Care for Cancer with Michele Allen
Today brings a TISSUE ALERT
Miley passed on her own terms this morning. She had an inoperable liver shunt and was in pretty bad shape on paper. If you met her she was full of exuberance, enthusiasm and she would most likely give you a good nip.
Sandy Coolidge-Dill found her abandoned at her groomers, urinating blood. She knew Miley was in trouble. Being an incredible animal advocate and knowledgeable foster mom, she brought her home and used her rescue ties to get her the help she needed. She was full of bladder stones which were removed. She was also diagnosed with a severe liver shunt and was transferred to us. She was our smallest (2.7 lbs) and youngest (2 yo) pup to join us. She had several ultrasounds including 2 very high tech ones. She saw Dr. Knight and then Dr. Sadanaga. Her shunt was sadly inoperable. Every liver shunt is a tiny bit different, many dogs can survive a while with it. Miley started having seizures which we were able to control with meds, she was on a special diet, meds and supplements. The liver is an important filtering organ and her body was just not hooked up to it enough to serve her in life.
Miley lived off site in forever foster with the Jones family (Aunt Holly and Kaiden). She was deeply loved, her crazy, spicey personality was embraced and she was quite happy. In some pics her face is covered in coconut oil, it was the only way to soften her eye “boogers” and the only way to avoid loosing a finger.
Thank you Aunt Holly for giving her a home, family and the best care, thank you Dr. Knight for helping us navigate her challenges and thank you Sandy Coolidge-Dill for taking action when you saw something was very wrong and being a fierce animal advocate. (Sandy was Cotton’s foster mom too and arranged for his transfer here years ago).
Miley, we are so sorry your life was so short. We will miss you for the rest of our days.
Please enjoy this quick video showing that as sick as she was, you would never know it. She
