Today we dispatched a rabbit. We grew these rabbits from kits. Pet them every single day. Provided them everything they needed to be happy and thrive until this day. Nothing prepares you for this day & it was hard. We had a little help from a friend, but we did this.

We indulged in some roasted figs with goat cheese wrapped in prosciutto & a balsamic drizzle. Ending the afternoon with homemade small batch fig jam 🤤

Last night we picked our first harvest of Figs for the season 😋 Our daughter Lucy is pretty tall, but this Fig tree is GIGANTIC in comparison.
2 lbs 3.9oz & 1/2lb ⚖️shared with the mini farm 😏

Candy Duck, formerly known as Duck Duck, has recently joined our family, bringing immense joy. Our kind neighbor generously gifted us her late husband's beloved duck, transforming her from a solitary creature to a cherished member of our thriving flock. Our youngest son, Hudson, thoughtfully named her Candy Duck, and his connection with her is truly heartwarming💕

Shirley the Loon is one of our radiant resident duck hens, shining bright with her vibrant spirit! She may not be a Loon in the classical sense, but a majestic Rouen Duck, spreading joy wherever she goes! Her resounding quack when she hears the gate open is music to our ears, a symphony of delight, earning her the endearing nickname LOON! This moniker is a testament to our profound love for timeless cartoons, inspired by the beloved Tiny Toons Adventures🫶

Our only laying duck hen currently! She has been a great addition to our tiny homestead since we welcomed her!

Her name was picked as a moniker to Darkwing Duck. His adopted daughter in the show was Gosalyn Waddlemeyer to Gosalyn Mallard🦆

Initially named, Kai 🦆 Sean and I LOVED Darkwing Duck growing up. His name seemed fitting until our daughter found out he was going to no longer be Kai 🫣 Long story short, his name is Darkwing 'Kai' Duck now.
Darkwing Duck for our nostalgic love of toons & Kai because he is in fact a Cayuga duck. He's absolutely beautiful as well ❤️

Melissa Duck was also in the galvanized bin at TSC. The only little yellow duck left laying with Daffy. She affectionately quacks anytime she hears our voices or the screen door slam. Her hair feathers are unique.

The meaning behind her name is her stylish hairstyle & her obsession with Daffy Duck, just like the cartoon 😆

After saying no to ducks, our affections were won over by our charming Daffy at TSC. His upward gazes from the galvanized bin captured our attention and tugged at our heartstrings.🦆
The meaning behind his name for us is connecting us to our childhood memories and the legacy of Dallas, Sean's father. ❤️
