“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭

💛 massages and therapy are great for restoring the balance of the body, but we need the word of God to restore our 𝚂𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚜💛

Lord I pray that whoever may read this that peace enters into their heart. May the stress of holiday planning and other stress fade away. I pray you help them see you in all that they do and that they know you are always with them. We are thankful for your grace and mercy, in your Holy name, Amen🤍

LET’S TALK ABOUT BEING “CINCHY”

I feel like this term gets used in the wrong way, waaaaayy too much. Is your horse really “cinchy” or are they sore from a bad saddle fit, girth fit, birthing trauma, or hindgut issues?

Birthing trauma? Yes..birthing trauma. There have been studies that show in foals 5% incidence of broken ribs and 20% incidence of ribe cage trauma. This is the highest most common cause of early girth issues.

Ulcers. Two main trigger/pressure points that I use and you can use to test for ulcers, lie right where the girth lies. They have a point in between ribs at elbow level and another behind the sternum. If your horse has even a mild case of ulcers, your girth will trigger the points and your horse can become “cinchy.”

I totally get if you have a horse that has never been saddled before, but when I hear people talk about their broke horses all the sudden started being “cinchy,” these are the questions I ask:

Is your horse sore in the girth area?
Do you have the right saddle? Have you checked the saddle fit?
Do you have the right size girth?
Does your horse have ulcers?

This is where ⚡️Equine Sports Massage Therapy⚡️ benefits your horse!

The horse's neck has more than 100 muscles and seven cervical vertebrae. Most of the upper neck is not defined by bone but by muscle, the neck accounts for 6% of body mass.

With all the collection exercises we do with our horses a lot of tension and tightness gets built up which can lead to irritable behavior, soreness, and can lead to issues with other muscles.

Equine Sports Massage Therapy helps release the tension. tightness, and brings waaavvveeess of endorphins.

Enjoy GusGus's endorphin yawns!

Got to go to Blanchard OK to help out “Boo”. She is a barrel horse but also first time momma. She has had some time off from the competing world to raise her foal but now it’s time to start racing again. Her owners wanted to make sure she is in good health to get started again. She was a little tight in her psoas muscles and glutes. I checked for ulcers and did a full work up on her, which she almost fell asleep on me, but got those muscles lose, blood flowin, and restored balance so she can self adjust.

Thank you Gracie for trusting me to take care of Boo, best of luck to your competing season!

💛 God bless

Got the opportunity to work on this big guy yesterday 😍 we can all appreciate a pretty yella horse 💛

This guy is a big time rope horse, with the best try and temperament but started havin some issues coming outta the box. I tested him and found he was having issues with his psoas, back strap, and traps. Did a full work up on him, which he greatly enjoyed, and retested. Everything cleared, no more soreness, and restored balance for him to self adjust 💪🏽

💪🏽 Muscle of the day: Pectoral muscle

Horse’s pec muscles run all the way back past where the cinch goes. This muscle is a huge part of forward motion.

Tight pec = 👎🏽 forward motion

If your horse is cinchy or irritated when saddling, it could be due to a tight or sore pec muscle.

After doing about a 20 minute shoulder/pec/leg massage, everything is loose enough for me to do this pectoral stretch.

POV: you are a horse enjoying getting deep tissue work on your psoas muscle

The horse’s psoas muscle is so important. Not only is it in charge of hip flexion but also spine stabilization, rounding of lumbar and tipping of the pelvis in concurrence with abdominal muscles. Combined with thrust from the hind, bringing forehand up off ground, engagement, and collection.

When this muscle becomes tight, horses become agitated, stiff, reluctant to work, and can buck. Their confirmation in the lumbar region will become rigid and can cause muscle compensastion.

Some horses really like getting their psoas worked on. For example, this is Chicken… yes his name is Chicken and it fits him. He is a 12 yr old QH gelding that is trained and rode often, does not compete. I did a full massage on him and when I started working on the psoas, he leaned all the way over into me and started scratching me with his nose. After I was done with the full work up, he was sleepy, relaxed, and no more tight psoas 😊

Fun fact about the lower part of the horse leg😱

The structure of a horse's leg can be compared to a suspension bridge, with a system of tendons and ligaments supporting the weight of the animal as it moves. The digital flex-or tendons, which run down the back of the leg, support the leg's "suspension" and allow the hoof to flex and absorb shock. Meanwhile, the ligaments provide the necessary tension to maintain posture and balance. With that being said, horses carry most of their weight on their front legs; 58% on front, 42% on back!

So, as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist, we make sure to get them tendons, ligaments, and muscles worked to add some tension release for the equine athlete to better perform and live more comfortably😌

Welcome to Blessed Equine Bodyworks!

✨ I am a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist located in NE Oklahoma

✨I use only my hands, no massage gun or other tools, because God created us and all His creatures. The power of human touch and energy cannot be matched with worldly instruments.

✨ My technique is a muscular skeletal bodywork that’s a combination of deep tissue massage, physical therapy, acupressure, trigger point release and stretches. This combination helps the horse self adjust!

✨My technique also is Structural Integration for Horses - Deep tissue massage and rebalancing mixed together. A massage type of therapy for horses that will rebalance the body left to right, front to back, inside and out. Changes will happen in natural balance, performance, flexibility and behavior.

✨Structural Integration is a type of bodywork that focuses on the connective tissue, or fascia, of the body. Fascia surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, organs, and nerves, binding some structures together while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.

✨ Common signs that your equine athlete can show that would greatly be improved by sports therapy:

-head tossing
-“off” for no reason
-shoulder or hip lameness, stiffness and resistance
-sore back, difficulty bending
-coordination difficulties
-short choppy strides, incorrect leads
-“cinchy”, attitude problems, tying up, loss of performance ability
