Happy Thanksgiving! I get the pleasure of spending this year with Gumball, Merlin, and Barnaby!

Stolen from my trainers post, but as a reminder: don’t give your pets table scraps today or this weekend! Keep human food away from your pets and do what you can to keep them safe. Even if that means putting them in a separate room away from guests!

Anya and Tails got their rabies vaccine yesterday. They're officially done with all of their puppy vaccines! They both love my vet, but we aren't going to talk about Anya peeing on me as I was holding her to check in 🫠

We went to Tractor Supply Co. for some training and socialization today! Anya did so well. She saw a big dog and kept by my side, saw lots of people and wanted to say hi, but was fine when I told her no, is walking with a loose leash, has amazing focus on me, and isn't scared of anything I asked her to climb on. As soon as she masters "down" in plubic, I'll fine-tune a few things and take her AKC CGC test.

Some things Anya dislikes are: people who stop and watch us (same), walking too closely to people, and loud suddon noises. All of those things I'm sure she'll overcome with more outings.

•Pet your dog, all the time
•Talk to your dog, all the time
•Allow your dog to follow you, all the time
•Allow your dog to be on your lap or laying on your feet, all the time
•Pet, soothe, comfort your dog when it whines or barks for attention...or is simply anxious
•Allow your dog to demand affection/interactions
•Be emotionally dependent on your dog to the point that unhealthy dependency and interactions are no longer noticed
•Allow your dog to do whatever it wants, whenever it wants—aka, provide no structure, rules, or accountability
•Foster an environment of chaos, stress, and anxiety
•Refuse to train and pattern calmness
•Refuse to crate train your dog
•Refuse to correct your dog when inappropriate behavior occurs
•Refuse to train your dog how to be independent/alone by using a “Place” command, “Downstay, and/or “away” time in the crate
•Let your dog out of the crate when it whines or barks
•Avoid training or anything that makes your dog temporarily uncomfortable or unhappy—in other words, cater to your dog’s every desire/need, designing your life around your dog, rather than having your dog fit into yours
•And many, many more...

Basically, baby, soothe, allow, enable, disable, lean on, omit teaching necessary life skills, prioritize what feels good for you rather than what does good for your dog, and through this master plan of leadership-free chaos, and systematic cultivation of creating a toxic dependency between dog and human...you’ll ensure that when you leave, your dog will be a true emotional mess, because you haven’t prepared them to be calm, obedient, strong, resilient, robust, independent, and alone.

I finally got Tails's AKC registration done. She's now ✨️"RCC Miles Prower"✨️ (sonic reference).

Update for everyone following her story: her eye does not slow her down the slightest, and she is not showing any bad symptoms yet. She is super bossy and acts like an annoying baby sister to the other dogs, but they all are very sweet and gentle towards her

I have lots of new followers and people asking about why Tails has a tail, so here's her little back story. She was a super tiny runt that I had to syringe feed from day one. I decided to keep her tail and dewclaws only because she was too weak to have it done. As she grew, her mental development was a couple of weeks behind what it should be, and she's a little slower on picking up on things. She has microphthalmia (a smaller eye) that she is either mostly or fully blind in and is suspected to have hydrocephalus (fluid on her brain). Hydrocephalus could not affect her in any other way or could be really bad, so I decided to keep her for 12 months since the symptoms can start from 6 weeks to 11 months old. If she gets bad, I'll give her the best life possible here. If she stays as is, she will be placed in a home once 12 months old.

Raven went to her first ever FastCat run today! She only ran once and got 29.95 points. I plan on entering her in a few more runs this year to work towards her BCAT title that needs 150 points. She absolutely loved it. Action shots will be posted as soon as I get them back from the photographer
