The one thing I love about my job is the bond that forms between a pet, it’s family and myself. For close to 6 years I have been grooming Nobi and Cooper. Nobi is the sweetest most lovable Springer I know and Cooper (a Retriever mix) while a little d***y, he is so fun loving and silly at times. I wish nothing but the best for them and their family as they make a new adventure somewhere out of the area. I send my love and well wish to you all!

My Day:
One thing about my job that I’m not fond of….. losing the good ones. Queenie was just the sweetest, lovable, puts her paw in my hand and snoots my face with her adorable nose. I will miss her very much, my heart goes out to the Tillet Family for their loss🥺

Doodle 11 mo. old,
Compacted ( matted) coat. 2 HOURS just to strip down
Coat almost came off in one piece. I can’t tell you how stressful this was for both the dog and I. And the poor pup’s skin! Red and irritated from the matting.
I just don’t understand why have this particular type of breed if you’re not going to do home care?
Thought: They own them because Doodles are a status symbol!
I could cry hysterically right now.

It was a rough week last week. Mentally and Emotionally. But I came across a teachable moment that I feel I should address. And you all know I’m all about client education.

There has been a lot of flab on my groomer feeds about “cruelty and abuse” when it comes to pet responsibility and how this pandemic has brought out a lot of questionable situations. But I want to point something out. Is it truly conscious neglect or is there something wrong in the home?

Think on this: what if it’s not conscious negligence? What if the pet owner has suffered a mental moment? Case in point you would first look at this poor soul, matted, miserable and probably feeling down right horrible. And I’m sure you all would agree that these pictures show abuse and neglect and that owner should be reported.

However it’s a different story all together an owner getting older, becoming forgetful, maybe dementia is starting to occur. Maybe this pandemic has put them over the edge with isolation and their demons. Maybe with the madness in today’s society they’re afraid to leave the house. Maybe they don’t have family or friends to check on them occasionally.

The teachable moment.....check on your friends and family occasionally, try to take time to stop by and see them look at their surroundings and pets. We are all in this together we have to rely on each other. The situation may never be what is on the surface. Mental Health is a real thing and everyone is affected in some way even our beloved pets.
