We would like to take a moment to talk about delays and the best way to handle them. We recently had a delay where 63 of our packages were held up here in Virginia due to a FedEx equipment problem. We emailed customers and let them know we were working with FedEx to get all packages moving, and assured them that, as always, we cover orders if there are any problems due to a delay. 💕

We let folks know not to reroute packages in our terms of service, and more noticeably in the email we send that has shipping details. It is in a huge font, bold, and red. ✅Rerouting a package will most always create a delay. so if there is already a delay, it will make it longer. ✅Rerouting to a place that does not accept live animals can create even more of a delay and also jeopardize our ability to ship with FedEx.

🗓️It is always a good idea to be available to get your order the day after your scheduled arrival date, just in case there is a delay. We have seen very few delays lately, but it can happen. We certainly would give you time during that day to get to your package, but please do not have vacation plans that day.

🛖If you cannot be home for the delivery the next day, FedEx will take it to the nearest center that accepts live animals where it will be kept safely until it can be picked up. We just ask that we be alerted about any problems within 2 hours of delivery or pick-up.

There is a review on our FB review page that was recently submitted. The customer blocked us so our response cannot be seen, but it is related to this topic and we would like to address it here since we cannot on the review. The customer has edited their review several times in response to the comments some have made, but she was upset that we told her rerouting her package would void her live guarantee. She has a FedEx center just 8 miles from her so there was no need to make any changes. She only needed to remove the reroute request but instead she wrote reviews on several platforms. It was rerouted to a Dollar General which does not accept live animals. Her package was the only one that had an extra night in Memphis and it was due to the reroute request.

It is not our intention to embarrass a customer, but we think it is important to respond to reviews to offer our side of the situation.

Fear Not Tarantulas is a licensed business in Virginia Beach, VA. We hold a permit from the US Fish and Wildlife Service to import and export. FedEx has granted Fear Not Tarantulas special permission to ship spiders using our proven methods which are the gold standard for shipping tarantulas. We regularly provide many species of tarantulas to universities, zoos, and individuals across the United States. It is a great joy of ours breed many species.
