Nibbles Alert! 🚨

Meet Nibbles! He is a 3 year old standard male surrendered due to no fault of his own. Nibbles previous owner mentioned him as a very outgoing and exploring little dude who enjoys couch time with his owners. He will need adjustment periods to his new home as he does get stressed. Nibbles will go home with a beautiful quality cage crafter wheel, a carrier and a bit of other supplies he had come with. Please take a look at him on my website if you are interested. Being social with other chinchillas is unknown but it does seem he prefers human interaction.

We are advocates for the term “Standard Gray” when it comes to our sweet grays. The color “Standard gray” has been used for decades with breeders. Many of our pedigrees and color classes at shows have stated Standard Gray and we will not be changing our colors to any other term as it could cause confusion as we have been using the correct name for them for 8 years along with many other breeders.

Fun facts: Grays were the first color of chinchillas discovered millions of years ago! 🩶

Mister Gabe sat on my shoulder for about 20 minutes today!! He played with my hair and organized my bangs. I think he makes a pretty great and social friend! He is 2 years old and prefers to be the ONLY CHINCHILLA in the home. Gabe’s favorite thing to do is chill with his owner and obtain level 10 chin scratches. 😜 Check him out on my website below!

Good afternoon everyone!

We will be holding off on taking in surrenders till further notice. I being the only main caretaker for the VB Chinchilla team will be going to college starting in August. I will be local but will not have as much time caring for more than what I have at this time.

I will resume normal breeding operations but will not be taking in any surrenders unless they are animals from my breeding lines purchased from me. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me. Thank you and stay cool everyone! 😎🐭

Hot weather!! 🥵

Do you have a back up if it gets too hot for your chinchillas? If it gets over 75 degrees it could be fatal for your chinchillas. What can you do to prevent over heating? Well having a back up plan is ALWAYS important in all situations with animals. If your AC goes out there are ways to keep you and your babies cool. Chinchillas have tons of fur so with heat rising in our area, it is important to have AC at all times keeping them around 68 degrees and a back up plan. If heat rises in your home when your AC goes out or electric goes out please have a place where you and your chinchillas could go to stay cool. Go to a friend or families house, stay in a hotel or have the essential products such as cooled chinchilla marble slabs, frozen bottles you can wrap and place in your chinchillas cage, put your chinchillas in the car with the AC on. Marble stones and frozen bottles are only temporary so have a back up location where your chinchillas can go if your AC doesn’t cut back on is vital.

Know your signs if your chinchilla gets hot. These signs mainly are shown in the ears. Chinchillas ears will get red and you will notice the blood vessels in the ears start to show. Typically in this occasion if you see your chinchillas ears red, you can feel them and they will be very warm.

📌Chinchillas should never be kept in an environment that gets hotter than 75 degrees F. In an emergency situation, such as a power outage, you can place frozen water bottles and tile chillers in the cage to help keep them cool. If your chinchilla’s ears appear pink and blood vessels are bright red, you need to get them to a cooler environment immediately. An air conditioned car can be a quick safe haven if you lose power. ✅ 𝙉𝙊𝙏𝙀: Chinchillas should never be placed in water and NEVER placed in a refrigerator or freezer to cool them down!

My VB chinchilla family, this is a different post than what I normally make. A local kitty rescue needs our help and I always go up and beyond to try my best and help. $5 or even a share helps this local rescue reach a goal to help sweet Roger. This kitty is going through something called a urinary blockage. That is when crystals, proteins, cells or other debris get stuck in the urethral area. It can be deadly if not dealt with right away.

MTAY R13 was born in the early hours this morning. This is a whopping HUGE pink white female out of MTAY M17 (PW M) and Kimora MBSC L64 (BG F). Welcome little lady! Just a day before July 4th. This little girl will not be available as I’ll be holding her back to watch her grow. We have tons of other beautiful animals located on my website. 🖤🌼

Found a home together! 🖤
We recently had gotten two standard females around 2-4yrs old in named Panda and Bear. These girls are currently going through bonding but will be available once bonding has been a success. So far we have not had an issue with them being together.

They will come with both their carriers, hideouts, two wheels made by quality cage crafters, dusters and their previous owner has two great cages available to go with them!

Meet Gabe! Gabe is a 2 year old standard male who is looking for his forever! This fella is very sweet but does prefer too not have tons of hands on him. He has a wet eye that seems to be on and off when we dust. He came with this wet eye but it seemed to clear up till dusting time. Breeding isn’t for the faint of heart!

We had triplets born last week. One beige female who was the largest of the three ended up getting pushed away from mom causing her brothers to fight her for food. She was injured in the left side of her face so at that point I knew I had to intervene. I decided to intervene and help this baby by rotating and hand feeding.

A few days ago another mom gave birth so I took the chance of putting this little girl in with this mom and her one baby. I placed some birth shavings all over the little beige girl and placed her into the cage. I watched for the first 30 minutes to make sure everything was ok then checked in periodically. Momma took her in!! A few days later now and this little girl nurses off her new foster mom as well as snuggles with her new foster brother. 💕 Sometimes great things happen but when I say it isn’t for the faint of heart, it is because it could have been worst than what it was for me at this time. I had gotten lucky. 🍀
