We have been renovating a building that will eventually be our new home and have been waiting for just the right moment to make an announcement. We don't have an official opening date yet but hopefully by the end of the year. The floor plan is twice the size of our current space and we couldn't be more excited 🤩 We will continue to update you as our move-in date approaches.

🚨IMPORTANT UPDATE!🚨
Yesterday we received news regarding one of the local emergency clinics, The COVE. They announced they will be closed on the weekends and open only during the week for urgent care. Currently there is only one 24 hour Emergency Clinic in the area.
‼️ We cannot stress enough how important it is that you call to inquire about availability before attempting to seek care for your pet. ‼️
It seems there is an ever-changing schedule for Emergency or Urgent care facilities due to the severe shortage of emergency veterinarians and staff. Unfortunately, the days of readily available after-hours care for sick patients seem to be diminishing. Below is a list of Emergency clinics and their hours of operation. Keeping this information in an easily accessible area will allow for quick reference. We have been told that clients can expect an average wait time of 4-6 hours. We will keep you updated as information is provided, however, please understand facilities do not notify us of their current availability.

Due to staffing shortages, we will temporarily be closed on Thursdays for general phone calls and medication pick-ups . We will be open for surgery patient admission and discharge only. Please continue to use our prescription voicemail to request prescriptions or food refills and our nurses voicemail for call backs about scheduling/rescheduling appointments or other questions. Call backs and pick-ups will resume on Fridays from 9am to 5pm. Blue Pearl Town Center is open from 8am to 5pm for urgent care needs. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working diligently to hire and train new team members so we can return to our normal office hours as soon as possible.

Puppy socialisation is NOT just about playing with other dogs.

In fact, too much uncontrolled exposure to other dogs can cause so many unintended consequences.

If you have a puppy, make sure you try to work on ALL aspects of socialisation, as listed in the bottom graphic.

The hospital will be closed this Thursday, Friday and Saturday so that our staff can enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with their family. RIVER CRITTER RESCUE has Kittens available for Adoption! 15 weeks old (DOB 4/21/22) . 6 Boys and 1 Girl. Dewormed with Rabies and RCP vaccines up to date. This week will mark an end of an era and beginning of a legacy as IRVH staff and clientele say farewell to Kathy S. whose dedication to our practice and veterinary medicine is unsurpassed. After 26 years with Indian River Veterinary Clinic & Hospital, Kathy will retire from her veterinary career. Join us in wishing Kathy as much happiness at home with her family as she had here with us. We will surely miss her!
