In our 6th adoption of 2024, we are so happy to share that after a year and a half of waiting, beautiful Chakra has found her forever home! This is the third Akita this family has adopted from us, and we are excited for her future ❤️ Chakra came to us in August 2022 from the shelter in Wythe Co, VA after being found stray. She was adopted and then came back to us in Jan 2023.
Happy new life, beautiful girl!!

It's Meet Me Monday!

Meet Sable. Sable is a young female of about 2 years old (born 5.22.2022)
A good Samaritan found her in a crate outside of a store.

Though she's sweet, she can be a bit shy. Sable would do best as an only dog, as she can be reactive to others. She also grew up with kids and cats.

To ask about Sable, please message us

Ask A Vet!

We’re setting up a Q & A session with a vet about questions: while this won’t be live, we’d like it if you submitted questions in the comments.

We will send 5 to the vet for answers

Oh my gosh! Yay! We are so happy to report that after waiting two years in rescue, Gabby has found her forever home with RIAR alum Jake!

Gabby originally came to us in 2020, along with her parents (Kyoto and Keito) and her brothers (Gabe and Gordon). Their owner had fallen on hard times, and left them all with a friend to be cared for. Sadly things just weren't improving, and he eventually told his friend to find them all new homes.

Gabby was adopted in 2020, but came back to us in 2022 following a family tragedy.

Happy new life, Gabby!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's Meet Me Monday!

Vladimir is a younger adult male (born 7/21/2019). Due to unfortunate circumstances of his previous owners, he found himself in rescue.
Vladimir is a silly guy, but takes a little while to warm up. He would do best with a house that is familiar with Akitas.

Please contact us if you would be interested in adopting this handsome boy!

GDV or “bloat” as it’s commonly called, can be frightening to both the dog and its owner.

It’s important to know the early signs, as it can save your pups life. Early identification and treatment can be key.

Please read and understand the early warning signs. If in doubt, call your vet!
