SaveThisLife microchip company has permanently closed. Many pets on the Iron Range have this brand of microchip. Even though the company has closed, the microchips already in place are still physically operational and should scan normally with a microchip reader.
The problem is that the STL database that links microchip numbers to an owner's contact info no longer exists.
It is extremely important that if your pet has a STL microchip already, ***you should re-register that number with a different provider so your owner information is associated with your pet's unique microchip number.***
There are many good microchip companies to choose from for re-registering! At this time, we are recommending PetLink Lifetime Registration because of their dependability and low cost point. See attached photo of multiple options.

"How do I know where my pet's microchip came from?"
Look up any microchip number at https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/
This database tells you who manufactured your pet's microchip.
Microchip numbers starting with 9910 may be from SaveThisLife.

"How do I find my pet's microchip number?"
Microchip numbers can usually be found on a health or vaccine certificate, on the PetDesk app under 'Chips and Tags', or in your pet's medical record. If you ever need a microchip verified, we will happily scan your pet for free (just give us a call so we can have a tech handy to do it).
