It's National Kitten Day!

Did you know...

- all kittens are born with blue eyes? The actual eye color will start to show between 7 to 12 weeks

- all kittens are deaf and blind until they reach 3 weeks old

- at birth, kittens have an advanced sense of smell to compensate for the lack of sight and smell

Soft, fuzzy, cuddly, and so fun to play with... kittens are a joy to have and experience.

We saw Freddie at the local diner looking down. When we asked what was going on, he told us he had just come from trying to buy his dream car. The story seemed happy when it started but apparently turned bad in the end. When he arrived at the dealership Freddie took the model he wanted on a test drive, then found one on the lot in the color he loved, and that one had all the accessories he wanted. He signed the paperwork, wrote a check to the dealership for the down-payment, and everyone agreed on a trade in amount for his old car. Just as the salesman was handing him the keys to his brand new, perfect, dream car... the manager of the dealership came in, took back the keys, tore up the check, voided the paperwork, and escorted Freddie off the lot. Turned out they couldn't sell to a dog! Sadly, what was a fantastic adventure turned out to be nothing but one big Saab story!!

Due to their superior sense of hearing, the sudden loud BOOMS of fireworks can upset most animals, including domesticated house pets.

More pets are lost on the 4th of July than any other day of the year. Only a fraction (14%) of pets who run away on the July 4th are reunited with their families.

To reduce the impact of fireworks inside your home, make sure all doors are closed and locked, keep your pets in a room in the center if the house. Blackout or darken windows, play calm and peaceful music, have a supply of familiar toys and blankets, laugh if they seem stressed by the fireworks noise. If your pet has extreme anxiety or negative reactions to the noise, see your Veterinary in advance and ask for their input on how to keep your pet calm and happy.

It's National Meteor Watch Day. Everyone is encouraged to go outside and observe meteors, also known as shooting stars, as they burn up in Earth's atmosphere. It's a day to appreciate the wonders of the night sky and potentially catch a glimpse of these celestial events.

An estimated 25 million meteoroids, micrometeoroids and other space debris enter Earth's atmosphere each day, so it should be possible to see a shooting star... or something else... in sky on any clear night.
