Horses & Air
Both are required for life, at least mine anyhow. When trouble comes a knockin’ and “trouble” comes in many forms. I take a deep breath (or two or ten) and get busy with horses. Before long things start to make sense to me and if things go right, the horse. You see its all about intention, integrity, truth and a knowing that you don't know it all. Every day is different. Every horse is different. Every ride is different. Guess what? They all matter. Have value, hold weight and character. Directly relate to one another, feed off of the last. The horse on the other hand, he teaches us a lot. They move through life in the moment, the here and now if it pleases you. Equus you truly hold the hearts and souls of many. It is because of you so many things come to life. Take action and become a lifeline to some. I’ll tell ya, horses make superb lie detector tests! Really. Simply because they see right through the bu****it, it’s so beautiful to watch. It is also fantastic to be held accountable at all times. On the other hand they revel in truth and adore being treated with respect and you know what... I feel the same way too! In fact, if you can keep a secrete...it warms my heart. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside too.
After I earning my degree in Equine Science from S.U.N.Y at Morrisville, NY I moved from my hometown in upstate New York to Ocala, FL where I began my lifelong career of working with horses. Although there were a few “backyard” starts in my hometown before I kicked off down south. Fantastic experiences indeed. Like always use YOUR tack. He was a nice enough c**t named Rocky, I had done a few days groundwork and was in the first 15 seconds of my first ride on ole Rock and the rein snapped. Lessons learned! While at Bo-Bett Farms in Reddick, FL I started several c**ts under saddle. I also did outside work going to many different farms working with sticky or troubled horses and the folks that owned them. Eventually I branched off on my own where I trained, bred and showed for clients in AQHA, APHA, IBHA and PHBA at world level competitions. It was a wonderful experience and I certainly learned a lot about me myself and being on the road with just my dog and the horses was pretty freaking amazing I’m not gonna lie!!! I found out I was stronger than I knew, I was capable of doing anything I needed to do. That asking for help, though very difficult for me, was not a sin. Most importantly to try your best is all anyone can do right? Or maybe just push a lil bit harder. YES!
Many years later I was approached by a couple of kind hearted therapists looking for a “Equine Professional” to partner up with in their practice of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
