Hilltop Great Pyrenees Rescue/Rehome

Hilltop Great Pyrenees Rescue/Rehome We are and have been devoted to Great Pyrs for the last 15 years, now rescuing & rehoming. Hi! I'm Heather from Hilltop Great Pyrenees!
(6)

With the challenges of the past year for so many of us, we have noticed the increase in need for Great Pyrenees rescue and rehoming. We’re so excited to announce the launching of our Great Pyrenees Rescue, June 1, 2021! Great Pyrenees are a unique breed in that they are immensely powerful working dogs known for guarding livestock and protecting against predators, while simultaneously being a nurtu

ring and loving family dog. We have been successfully raising, rehabilitating, and rescuing Great Pyrenees since 2007. Our methods have proven successful and allow Pyrs to develop and prosper according to their natural ability on open land with human family and livestock. Covid 19 affected all of us in different ways. Due to families facing financial struggles and relocating, many Pyrs were given up, abandon, or lost. Countless puppies and rescue dogs were adopted during the pandemic. Now as life returns to somewhat normal we are seeing a quick rise in the number of Great Pyrs in need and we want to be an open door and safe haven for them. It has been made abundantly clear to us at this time to do what has been on my heart for years...Help More Great Pyrenees! With this urgent need, we’re focused on making our property available for Great Pyrs in need of a good home. We're regularly contacted by people who due to unanticipated circumstances need to surrender their Pyr. We welcome them without judgment and offer the help needed. Another area of our focus is to aid requests for adult re-homing and rescue dogs. We truly care about Great Pyrs and their people! Every single Pyr needs a safe place with plenty of open space to run and flex their muscles. Our core philosophy has always been not to kennel our Great Pyrenees in order for them to prosper. It is our vision to build a space to rehabilitate them with out kennels! Our lives and our farm property have been dedicated to this amazing breed for almost 15 years. I cannot speak enough to their intuitiveness and connectedness to humans and their livestock when they are given the opportunity to thrive! We can’t express how excited we are about launching this new opportunity that will benefit so many of these amazing animals. We help Great Pyrs find wonderful homes and help you find your Great Pyr! You are welcome to find more information about us on Facebook, Instagram, and our website

**ADOPTED!** LIVESTOCK GUARDIANS!!

These boys recently lost their goat herd and need a new job!

They were born in 2019, both neutered, excellent with livestock, and keeping coyotes away. No poultry experience.

Finn has some allergies that don't respond to the allergy meds he has tried. Steroids work when needed.

Finn walks on a leash. Jax hasn't been trained to.

**ADOPTED!!** Please contact Rescuer! Info in post. Thanks!

This male Pyrenees has been neutered, very well taken care of, and has been shaved (unfortunately). He showed up in Ocoee TN near the King’s Slough Boat Ramp; it’s been over a week with every attempt to find his owner. He has been listed on every website. He has a chip, but the veterinarian said no information was found.
If someone will give him a good home, he would appreciate it.This dog is a very sweet dog.

In Need of Rehoming

This sweet boy named Big’Dog is a great pyranese mixed with Anatolian Shepard. He’s 5 years old, house trained, plays well with all types of dogs and cats. Great around people and kids, and mostly enjoys laying on the couch relaxing.

The family he currently lives with is growing fast and are finding it hard to have enough attention to go around. I am a friend that is helping with the process of rehoming and need to find someone soon, if you are interested please DM me and I can send you videos and more pictures of him or schedule a meet with Big’Dog.

He is neutered and up to date.

URGENT!! The current foster has had them for less than 24 hours and has threatened to take them to the shelter or worse, open the gate on a busy road to let them go!!

Why??? She said she doesn't think her current dogs are comfortable with them there and that we can not expect her dogs to be inconvenienced.

The girls are very sweet. They get along with other dogs, people, and children. They do not have any livestock experience whatsoever and will chase cats. They are escape artists as many Great Pyrenees are.

If anyone is willing to take them in please let me know asap!

Update!! The owner either intentionally released the dogs or allowed them to get out on a busy road. Thankfully, and due to local efforts, the dogs were picked up by the Kingston Police and taken to the Roane County Animal Shelter. We will be working with the shelter to get them into a safe and permanent home.
If you believe that you could offer a safe and permanent home to these dogs who have been through a terrible situation please let us know!
Because we are working with the shelter these dogs will never be in danger of euthanasia. We are grateful to the Roane County shelter for giving them a safe place off of the busy roads where they will be cared for until a home can be found.

We have turned off commenting on this post but please feel free to message us if you are able to help.

These two girls are in Mississippi but The Rescuers are willing to drive to transport them to a good home.

Two intact female Great Pyrenesse possible mixes showed up on our property a week ago. The dogs do not have any collars or identification on them. We took them to the vet to see if they were chipped, and unfortunately, they were not. We do not have any other information.
We got them up to date on vaccines and they are heartworm free. The vet believes one to be 3 to 4 years old and the other 1 to 2 years old. We got them on flea and tick medication as well as heartworm prevention.

They are very sweet and after getting to know us a bit follow us everywhere. We had to help them into the car but they rode in the car well. They are sleeping in our garage and not have had any accidents. You're welcome to contact 2697535641 if you can open your home to them.

Henrick & Juniper are available together or separately!

They lived on their Farm until circumstances changed, and family members took the dogs to help out. Their new home is an apartment, and as you can imagine, they are having a difficult time adjusting.

Juniper is a 7-year-old spayed female. She has had experience guarding goats, ducks and chickens. She has not been around animals for the past few years. She loves children! She is house and crate trained, walks perfectly on a leash, and good with other dogs.

Henrick is 5 years old and intact. He is house and crate trained. He does great on a leash and in the car but is a little timid in public because he's used to being in the country. He's great with kids 10 and up, but it is a little wary with little ones getting into his space. He can get overwhelmed with other dogs or in social situations.

If you feel like you would be a good fit for one or both of these beautiful dogs, please send us a message!

Meet up locations will be Knoxville or Gallatin area.

**Both ADOPTED!!** Chole & Ireland are AVAILABLE!

These two intact 3-year-old sisters are very sweet, good with people, good with other dogs, and love to take a walk on the leash.

They are outside but would need more training to be trustworthy livestock Guardians. They did not do well with Lambs. They respect electric wire or netting fences.

They would make wonderful pets or possible Guardians if someone put in the effort to train them.

If you feel like you could offer up your home to the sweet girls, please contact us! This is all the information we have on them.

They can be adopted together or singly. Located in the Knoxville area.

**ADOPTED!!** Mazie is available!!

She seems to have been abandoned and has been roaming looking for home and food. She is been taken in by a vet office and given vet care. She's approximately 5 to 6 years old, spade, and 93 lb. Attempts to find her owner have failed. She is fully vaccinated and negative for heartworms. She has a Seresto collar. She seems to be house trained and has no issues inside a kennel. She walks well on a leash and did fine in a 40 minute car ride; she just wanted to be held and loved on. She seems to have no issues in a public setting. She was good with children for the short time she was exposed to them.

Please reach out if you would like to offer a home to Mazie!

She is in Knoxville

**ADOPTED!!** Odin is a sweet, four year old Pyrenees, but his owners are moving to a new state unexpectedly and cannot take him with them. They don't want to force him to become a city dog because he's a country boy at heart.

Odin is the most loving and goofy dog they've ever met, gentle with cats and other dogs, but like any pyr, is loyal and protective of his 'flock'. He knows basic commands, is crate trained and fixed, and loves to lay on the bed and stare into the hall.

He is up to date on vaccines and heartworm meds.

Fencing required!!

Presley  is Available for Adoption!
Born in 2017
Located in Knoxville
Fully up to date on all shots and vaccines, heartworm, etc
She is a big girl (135 pounds)
Lives full-time with goats, lambs, donkeys, and mini horses.
Her hair is a little wild; you have to keep it brushed, or it gets matted.
She loves to ride in the car.

Presley is a super sweet dog; she would prefer to be a house dog, house potato. She loves attention and is very affectionate. She does not realize her size and thinks she can be a lap dog.  She was an excellent guardian, but if she had her choice, she would be just an inside dog that rode around in the car.

She is the alpha dog with other female dogs.  She does excellent with males. I would say any other companion dogs should be males. She has never been exposed to small dogs, either. Ideally, she would best be suited as just a loved pet and the only dog. Presley is very loving and kind to everyone. I never really had small children around, so I do not have experience with that. However, she is perfect with adults. She will be a roamer, so a fence is a must. She has excellent manners in the car, grooming and bathing her and getting her nails trimmed.  I do keep her on an anti-inflammatory pill because she is a big girl, and it helps with her joints. She loves to be petted and a kiss on the nose.

Serious inquiries please message us, thanks!

*ADOPTED* Willow is about one and a half years old Great Pyrenees. Tyco is 6 to 8 months old and the vet surmises that she is a GP cross with a Golden Retriever. It was evident that they were strays staying together. In trying to find their owners, we learned that they had been dropped at the railroad tracks and had been roaming the area for a week or more.

Willow quickly acclimated to affection and being cared for. She is a gentle, loving sweetheart. It is evident that she had never been trained to be on a leash but she follows along off leash like she is heeling!

Tyco has rapidly become a real lover eager to play and give kisses and already learning to lead on collar and leash. Tyco is all puppy! A bundle of fleecy white curls, Tyco is really irresistible.

Willow and Tyco love frolicking around together and with us. Both get along well with outside cats and horses in the adjoining pasture. They are now receptive to and affectionate with new people who visit including our mobile veterinarian and her assistant.

They are being kept in large fenced area with a four-foot fence where they have contentedly resided without trying to get out. They now come to us eagerly to lick our fingers and to be petted and rubbed. We have brushed them daily and their coats are glistening.

February 20th, both were examined by our veterinarian who gave each a full physical check with all recommended vaccines and labs. Willow currently weighs 60 pounds and is gaining a bit more weight, which she needs. Tyco is 46 pounds and growing as a puppy should. Both had been previously spayed and are heartworm negative. Neither had been microchipped.

If you feel that Willow and Tyco would fit into your family, farm family, or homestead please message us.
We are hoping to place them together as they are bonded but will place them separately if we have to. Each has adoption fee. Located in the Knoxville area.
Thanks!

*ADOPTED !!* Cowboy is a Hilltop boy in need of a new home. He is 6 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccs and heartworm, great with cattle, sheep, chickens, and people. He grew up with children.

He needs to be rehomed due to inadequate fencing at his new property. His family opted for invisible underground fencing which is not typically keep pyrs in. He has been getting out which is very unsafe. He is starting to show some stiffness and his joints early in the morning but that is due to age. Another factor is that his companion passed away and he has been lonely ever since.

Adequate fencing is required.

**ADOPTED!** Dolly, Dixie, & Shirley are looking for a new home/farm!!!

Dolly and Dixie are 1 year old litter mates, and Shirley is 1.5 years old and was adopted from Williamson Co Shelter.

All 3 have been barn dogs protecting goats with chickens in their own coop closeby, but also have been inside quite a bit as well. Shirley likes working and prefers to be outside. Dixie and Dolly can go either way. They enjoy being spoiled and would make great pets as well. They are good with goats and have been around chickens although the chickens are in their own coop.

All are up to date on vaccines. D & D get car sick and Shirley rides well. They love to go on walks on a leash. They do very well when people/kids visit the their Farm even during events but have not spent time in public.

Their Farm is being sold and the tenant who has been taking care of them for this past year has to move and cannot take the dogs.

Ideally they would like to keep the litter mates together but we all understand that rehoming multiple dogs is difficult. They can be adopted together or individually.

Those seriously interested are welcome to contact us Hilltop Great Pyrenees Rescue Or

Contact Owner! Info below
(Brentwood, TN) This is Appa, he is 1.5 years old, born 2/22/22, 85 pounds and neutered. He is short haired for a Pyr and only has single dew claws, so there is probably a mix somewhere back in his lineage, but his DNA test shows full Pyr. Appa is a very sweet, goofy boy. His favorite things are cuddling, chasing balls and chewing on sticks. Appa is great on a leash, is up to date on all shots and flea, tick and heart worm medication. He has no health issues but does take over the counter allergy medicine seasonally, and needs his ears cleaned from time to time. Appa is an indoor pet with no livestock experience, and needs to be rehomed as a pet only.

We need to rehome Appa because he cannot get along with our other dog and it is not safe for either of them. He has been on anti anxiety medication to see if it helps but it has not. We have had him trained by Allegiant Canine out of Spring Hill, TN to try to resolve the issue but our trainer agrees the reality is that Appa would do best as the only dog in a household. Our neighbors dogs come over to play and he is fine so it’s something about having another dog in the house. He has not been around children so I wouldn’t recommend a home with children, I think he would be fine but because he has not had the experience I am not recommending that setting. He is wary of strangers at first but warms up quickly with treats and loves them more each time he meets them.

Appa is very obedient for a Pyr and knows; sit, shake, speak, lay, go to bed, break(release from bed) and twirl. We are willing to pay for his trainer to come have a session with you and Appa if you would like. He would be the perfect best friend for someone retired or who works from home, as he loves to be right next to his people all day if he can be. He does get separation anxiety if left outside alone with the door closed. He will come with his crate which he sleeps in at night, but he will cuddle in bed with you if you let him. Appa is a Pyr so he does like to guard the house and his people, and will bark at any strangers he can see from the yard and windows. He is used to a fenced yard and does not try to escape or roam. He is calm in the car but can get carsick if he has eaten recently.

We really love him and are saddened that this has to be done. His happiness is very important to us. If the rehoming doesn’t work out we will take him back and work to find him another home. Please text/call (909) 518-9835 to discuss

*ADOPTED!** Tony is Available! Sweet boy needs a family who works from home or who has a good sized yard with fencing.
Following info is from previous owner.

Age- between 1.5 and 2 years
Neutered
Pyr Mix
He has been a pet his entire life. He has no livestock guardian experience.

Is the dog up to date on all vaccines and heartworm medication? Vaccines just expired. Heart worm is up to date.

On flee/tick protection? Yes he takes Simparica

Any health concerns or previous serious illness or injury? No, but he is on anxiety medicine because of the barking. I don’t think he needs to be on it honestly because he only barks and panics in the crate, so I’ve been leaving him out of the crate.

Why are you surrendering this dog?

I’ve spent the last year continuously apologizing to my neighbors about Tony’s barking, and recently my apartment has stated that if I get one more complaint that I will get evicted. Tony is an angel and such a great dog, he just barks a lot when left alone and I work long hours. He also destroys when he’s left alone.

We do not have a fence, we live in an apartment. That’s probably a big issue in all of our problems.

He easily escapes regular crates so I did buy him a really expensive, special crate and he doesn’t escape it.
He is house broken. He’s indoors all the time. We take several walks and spend 1-2 hours at the park a day. Crate trained…. I would say no. He loves to lay in his crate but he hates to be in there and home alone at the same time.

He’s been fine with kids. He’s only been around the kids in the apartment complex. Never been around cats.

Tony is a lover. He is happiest when he’s snuggling you. He loves to sleep next to me with his head on a pillow like a human. My hope is that the home he goes to allows him to snuggle as much as he wants and allows him inside as much as he wants.

*ADOPTED!* Odin is looking for a new home! His pending adoption fell through.

He is around 4 years old, indoor and outdoor, house trained, neutered, great around all dogs, cats, and chickens, up to date on all vaccines, flea and tick protection and heartworm medication.

He is very well behaved indoors even when left alone and he adores children of all ages! He is very good in public, very calm. He is great on a leash does not pull at all. As a bonus he's good with chickens. He does not have issues with resource guarding but does love his own bone.

The family is expecting a new human baby and need to rehome him. He is not being rehomed due to any negative behavior or concerning reasons, just the new baby on the way.

If Odin looks like a good match for your family please contact us. He is located in East Tennessee.
