When a dog chews on a hard object, the force can sometimes be enough to crack or fracture their teeth, especially pre-molars, which are more susceptible to damage. A fractured tooth can lead to infection, pain, and other oral health issues if left untreated.

Recently, sweet boy Rasta had a big day with his surgery team Dr. Kaplan and surgery techs Ashley and Paloma for a much needed dental. Rasta underwent the procedure under anesthesia and it was determined that his fractured tooth would need to be extracted to prevent further pain and potential infection.

If you suspect your dog has fractured a tooth, it’s important to schedule a vet visit as soon as possible!

Dr. Marc Rosenberg, who you may remember from hisPBS television show “People Pets & Dr. Marc” or his radio shows on WCAU, WWDB and KYW, opened the Voorhees Veterinary Center in 1986.

Dr. Rosenberg and the professional staff of The Voorhees Veterinary Center have strong commitments to the humane efforts of local shelters and rescue groups. In addition, Dr. Rosenberg has a long time association with The Humane Society of The United States, a relationship begun by his father, Dr. Sydney Rosenberg, who was instrumental in establishing the current New Jersey low cost spay neuter program.

The Veterinarians at The Voorhees Veterinary Center have special interests in the areas of veterinary dentistry, surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, cancer care, acupuncture, senior care, companion pet loss and grief support. These interests along with our comprehensive pet medical care allow our staff of professionals to help you help your pets.
