What does everyone do during the spring/summer to keep their pups in a good physical condition?

When time allows, Kyle and the girls like to take Remi, Grace and Jax dock diving. Keeps the ball/prey drive going, keeps them in shape and another way to increase the bond between canine and handler.

Ol Salty Retrievers has officially switched over to Next Level Hi Energy dog food. This is a 24% Protein, 20% fat and 4.5% fiber blend.

After using Victor Professional for many years, we were forced to make a switch after all of their products were recalled. We experimented with Diamond Pro 89 for a bit but ultimately settled on Next Level. After 2 months of Next Level, all the dogs have healthy, shiny coats, are holding weight and solid bowel movements.

We would like to thank everyone who have decided to own an Ol Salty Retrievers pup and trusting us with your new addition. We would also like to thank everyone who shared the post, reached out about future litters and helped us get the word out. Without our social network of friends and family, this would not have been possible. So again, thank you all.

Little late afternoon training session with the pups. These two are gonna be retrieving machines. Last 2 remaining.

In the photos are the B/F and the largest B/M from the Grace (SH) x Shine (MH) litter and are the only two available at this time.

Contact us and see how to claim one of these last two remaining pups before you miss the opportunity at a great litter. Both parents are titled, have stacked championship pedigrees and have all genetic health testing complete. These will make great sporting, competition, hunting or family dogs. Pups got introduced to ducks today. They all enjoyed it and are showing great retrieve drive. Even a little scent work with the bigger male.

Still have pups available. Pups are 9 weeks old and ready to go to forever home.

Grace x Shine litter update

SH x MH titled breeding

Pups had their final vet check on 10/27 and everyone received a clean bill of health. Pups are up to date on shots and wormings have have started going to their forever homes. Currently, we still have 3 - B/M and 1 - B/F available. Pups are well socialized, have been introduced to “fun” bumpers and some light retrieving work and all show great drive so far.

These pups should excel in many roles whether you are looking a partner in a dove field or duck blond, hunt test / field trial games, dock diving or just a family companion.

Genetic health testing has been done on both parents to give you peace of mind In knowing we have taken every step possible to try and guarantee you a happy and healthy pup, that should be clear of all genetic factors that are common in labs.

Jax is our “red” male Labrador retriever, who has been claimed by our oldest daughter. Jax was professionally trained by Southern Magnolia Retrievers in Sampson County, NC and has achieved his Senior Hunter title.

During the winter months, Jax can be found in the duck blind when “Grace” allows him to go. During the spring and summer months, you can find Jax competing with the Carolina Dock Dogs. Jax is an inside dog that loves to retrieve, loves chew toys and most importantly, loves his girls (Sadie and Savannah) Starting in 2024, Savannah will be competing with Jax in dock diving events in the junior handler category.

Grace is a black female and was our first titled female. She was professionally trained by Justin Matthews of Southern Magnolia Retrievers where she tested and acquired her Senior Hunter title. Grace is a high drive dog that does great with marking and hand signals. She is used to hunt during the fall for doves and ducks. During the summer, she does dock diving. Kyle runs her in speed retrieve and our oldest daughter Sadie (9 years old) runs her for big air. She has also received her senior title for dock diving through dock dogs and is in the process of getting her AKC senior title in dock diving. Sadie and Grace qualified and were invited to DockDogs Worlds Championship in 2023 located in Dubuque,Iowa in the junior categories but were unable to attend.

Grace has a wonderful off switch when she comes indoors. Whether she spends 20 minutes outside or 8 hours in the field, when she comes indoors, she looks for a dog bed and relaxes.

Here at Ol Salty Kennels, we believe first and foremost, that our labs are family companions and then working dogs. Our labs are raised and kept indoors and are a big part of our family.

From working a duck blind on a cold morning, to sailing through the air while dock diving, we utilize the Labrador retriever breed to the full extent each animal is capable of.

Occasionally, we will have litters of puppies. The first part of a successful pup comes from the selection of parents. We use the utmost discretion when selecting the sire and dam of our litters to make sure the end product is a healthy and successful pup that will succeed in whatever that pup is called to do. Whether you want a new hunting partner, a hunt test prospect, a water loving dock diver or a family companion, we have what you need.
