FAT CAT RESCUE is a 501C3 licensed rescue for all types of animals who are lucky enough to come through our doors. When cats come to us they may be sick and skinny, but by the time we've loved them up they have become Fat Cats with healthy bodies, higher self esteem, greater trust in humans and a joy of living they haven't experienced in a long time if ever. So when we call a cat "Fat" we mean healthy and happy in every way possible.

Meet Whisper Whisper is absolutely nothing like her name suggests. She's definitely not a quiet girl; Whisper vocalizes her intentions as soon as she can grab your attention! Whisper's favorite thing has to be playtime. She never seems to be exhausted and will gleefully chase the laser light or toy wand non stop. Whisper doesn't seem to mind the other cats in the room but doesn't really have a buddy. She would make a good companion for a family that can give her lots of play time but doesn't mind if she's play cat but not a lap cat.

Cherish is waiting for her family at our foster Amy's home. She so wants to be Lilly the resident cat's friend. Some key things her foster mom has noticed for her future family.

So far, she is excellent about her claws. She doesn't sleep with me, but likes to sit on my chest to cuddle for a few minutes. She is trying so hard with Lilly, tho Lilly is giving her the cold shoulder.

Congrats to Willow she went home this evening. Thank you to Lori for raising such a sweet girl and taking her back in when she was returned recently due to her new family developing allergies. We pray Willow will have a Happily Ever After!!

Our shelter is home to numerous adult cats, ranging from 2-12+ years old, seeking permanent families. We offer both paired and individual cats, with select animals suitable for households with dogs, provided a proper introduction is facilitated. As the holidays draw near, our objective is to secure homes for some of these precious fur babies prior to 2025, thereby expanding our capacity to support additional cats. "So I’m reading Max the story posted by Kaye on Fat Cat FB page describing how he was rescued and then came to us.
So I read it the first time and he says, read it again, read it again.
Halfway through he put his paw on the screen and says,

So that really got to me.

Rescue is like a sport..! draft teammates..!! that can make your Rescue #1

When I look back at all the battles and the struggles, I wouldn't change a thing, I never regretted ever, about helping or taking any cat in at Fat Cat Rescue, as hard as it was sometimes, I sure learned a lot and got a back Alley education..❤️ this story is a blast from the past.. and I was a new rescue..scared to death.. over these two kittens.. and think of them often.. 💋 My mom and dad always told me, God doesn't call on the qualified, but he qualifies those he calls on, Thank You God for believing in Me..! even when I didn't believe in Me..!

Hello my name is Kaye Larsen, I had only been a Fat Cat Rescuer for a few years time.. when a young lady from a pet store called me crying.. I couldn't figure out what was wrong..once she calmed down, she went on to tell me two kittens at the pet store had ringworm, one almost no hair with a rat tail the other looked like a cancer patient. plugs of hair soon to have no hair and a rat tail also..I have never dealt with ringworm ever.. she begged me to help her.. the owner of the store had shoved the two kittens in the back room.. not wanting to deal with these two ringworm kittens as it was getting worse and worse. the sales clerk asked and asked.. the owner if they could go to the vets. He told her leave those two kittens alone feed and water and don't worry about them.. well this young girl couldnt...! begging me to take them at Fat Cat Rescue.. I was scared I had 60 other cats, mostly feral that could possibly get it.. I wasn't set up for two kittens with ringworm.. I thought about it and told her to bring them we'll just have to get set up somehow.. Oh Shoot Me.. when I looked in the carrier i was not ready to see what i was about to see, I was horrified. I was in total shock.. I knew right then and there, I was totally out of my league.. all the Vollunteers chipped in carefully bleaching everything.. we all knew this was for the big boys, the experience Rescue.. but there where no other Rescues to help..! Snap out of it Kaye and the rest of the poor volunteers. It's time to help save theses kittens.. I asked my cousin to foam board up the whole screened in porch and we put in big space heaters.. one of my rescue friends worked for Abbotts brought me what looked like Hazmat Suits.. a change for everyday for three months rubber gloves and booties and got electricity out on this bump out room/porch on a trailer we had.. I knew I was over my head, way over. But the whole group of volunteers kept bleaching and helping.! but I remembered what my mom and dad used to tell me about God.. he doesn't call on the qualified, but he qualifies the one's he calls on..! Well you all that was us..! God qualified us, we were the least of the qualified rescues. to fight this battle.. Fat Cat has battled some of the toughest battles and God Qualifing Us All The Way Along..! I want to Thank God for his Loving Hand in Fat Cat Rescue..❤️
Three months we fought for Brandy and Bubba..! We where terrified we couldn't battle this fight without God.. they got lathered in creams everyday and got baths with ringworm soap in that old Trucking Co. Garage Sink 3 times a week.. not one other cat got ringworm nor did I or any other volunteers. And the young lady who wouldn't leave those kittens alone got fired from the store because of those kittens .. for shining the light on cruelty.. we couldnt believe those two babys made it.. ❤️and a friend of my brother Moose's daughter adopted Bubba and Brandy.. The reason these kittens where brought up again is because Bubba and Brandy's adopted mom is who found Bean eating her squirrel seed in her yard. Bean was just adopted finding his forever home.. so you see you all we can do this..! but only if we all chip in..! We have to let God Qualifie Us, So Adopt, Volunteer, Foster, Donor's.. Rescue is Not a Spectators Sport..!

Bingo and Honey Bunz: the purr-fect pair is settling in nicely. Their new dad reports Bingo's purr is loud enough to mow the lawn from the inside out. All checkpoints are good, and the resident cat ( Tucker)is waiting patiently to meet the new lovebirds.

We are beyond excited to announce The Breakfast Club Kitten's are staying together as a family and are pending adoption. They had a wonderful meet and greet today. This season we had three sets of three go home together to separate families. Again without our adopters and wonderful fosters we couldn't do it without all of you.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Celebrating Major Milestones for our Precious Bottle Fed Baby!! Look who's making eye contact?!? Yep, it's our little Pumpkin shining bright!! Pumpkin the kitten is thriving. Her eyes are now wide open ❤️ She's grown to 9 ounces and is embracing cuddles and snuggles, taking her first steps with confidence and poise too! :) :) :)

URGENT NEED - Please, we are seeking your assistance in finding a suitable foster home for Chunky, a sweet cat recently placed in a foster-to-adopt home. However, it has become apparent that he requires a single-cat household, although he interacts positively with the resident dog. We are urgently looking for a foster home with a dog or no other cats. Or, maybe you have a room in your home where he can be fostered. To help, please contact us directly or submit a foster application. Considering our current capacity of over 350 cats, returning Chunky to the rescue would unfortunately result in confinement, which we wish to avoid.

Happy Tails, kitten season 2024 we started out with this adorable pair that found each other at Fat Cat Rescue, Oklahoma was sadly thrown out a car window and by a miracle survived, and Billy was a sweet kitten that was born to Heather and the only one of her litter. These kittens formed a unique bond and continued that into their foster home.
