Fat Cat Rescue Our vision is a community where every animal is cared for. We have received our 501C3 non-profit tax status and now all donations are tax deductible.

FAT CAT RESCUE is a 501C3 licensed rescue for all types of animals who are lucky enough to come through our doors. When cats come to us they may be sick and skinny, but by the time we've loved them up they have become Fat Cats with healthy bodies, higher self esteem, greater trust in humans and a joy of living they haven't experienced in a long time if ever. So when we call a cat "Fat" we mean healthy and happy in every way possible.

Adoption Alert: Lexi & Levi Have Found Their Forever Home!

On April 1st, a brave little mama named Missy and her four tiny tabby kittens were brought to safety by the kind folks at Roger’s Towing—and that’s when their story with us began.

Among those sweet babies were Lexi (a brown tabby girl with attitude and affection to spare) and Levi (her silver-gray brother with a heart as soft as his fur). We watched them grow from wide-eyed wiggle worms into confident, cuddly kittens.

Today, Lexi and Levi embarked on their next great adventure—together—with their amazing new mom. We couldn’t be happier for this bonded pair, who will now get to fill their forever home with double the zoomies, double the snuggles, and double the joy.

We’ll miss you, little legends—but we know you’re right where you belong.

Happy tails, Lexi and Levi! You’ll always be part of the Fat Cat family.

Adoption Pending x2!
We’ve got more good news from Callie’s crew—two more sweet duos are pending adoption!

Stormy & Aurora melted hearts and will be going home together soon.

And in an extra special twist of fate… the final meet-and-greet today fell in love with the last kitten and her amazing mom. That’s right—Callie & Misty are also being adopted together!

There’s nothing sweeter than a mama and her baby finding a forever home side by side. Our hearts are full, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s opened their homes and hearts to this precious family.

Stay tuned for final adoption day photos—we can’t wait to see them all settled in!

The kitties and all of us appreciate all the time you give in caring for the kitties every day. Each of you continue to provide them the love and comfort they need, and to gain their trust with humans again. Our rescue kitties love the day to day care they continue to receive under your care. Being in the rescue can have many ups and downs, but with all your help and dedication It goes so much smoother. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything that you do, all the time that you spend, your generosity, every event you attend and all your continued support and mostly for loving the cats. We are so fortunate for such a wonderful team and for all the friendships that come from volunteering. Love ❤️ 🐱💕

I've always said Rescue is not a Spectators Sport..!
Leo, The Little orange kitten had 4 siblings who all have passed away, Victor fought for two weeks to survive, Leo's last brother they clung and snuggled with each other every day and every night..! because they seem to know that they were all the had, their eyes had just opened able to see each other for the first time in their little kitten lives. and then they ate breakfast together and snuggled up and then for some reason Victor left for Heaven, we dont know why they had been to the vet at least four times since we have had them, the vet was excited, the two little brothers were doing amazing. Leo has nothing now, No one but his beautiful foster mom.. he whined and cried.. Dianne Bearwald ordered him a cuddle cat that purred and got warm and had a heart beat to try to help Leo..!. all three of the kittens Leo, Victor and Otis went to the vet constantly, to make sure we were doing all we could on Fat Cat Rescue end, we really tried to help them survive the tragedy the mom and 5 kittens had been through, but only one kitten is left, Leo the last surviver.. we have been praying.. then Saturday evening Nike was brought here.. the kitten brought to us from the Speedway gas station parking lot in Waukegan.. if you don't remember him scroll down his story is in my post... No mom, No siblings.. we warmed him up and fed him and sent him on to his foster home, with Miracle Foster Mom Meagan..!
She ask if she could put Nike who is just a day or so old, with Leo who is 2 1/2 weeks older than Nike.... I said yes if we dont we could lose them both, just keep a close eye on them both, you have to figure.. we had everything to lose.. both of them heartbroken and depressed, they didn't have anyone anymore.. we prayed to God please help Nike and Leo.. find Love and Comfort in each other.. normally kittens with that big of an age difference we wouldn't dare dream of putting them together.. but with lots of prayers and the hope God would hear us and our prayers we did.. Leo held onto Nike as if it was his baby, and Nike always scooting around looking for Leo to be held and loved on.. and Nike making muffins on the stuffed snuggle cat that purred and you can hear snuggle cats heartbeat.. everything is working out with a few visits to the vets, eveything seems all is going well and both boys are getting strong..!
Please we need your love, kindness, care and financial help to keep saving Leo, Nike and The Sweet Sixteen and kittens like them..! Come on jump in the rescue game with us.. we love cheerleader but teammates are the best..!

Five of Callie’s kittens are pending adoption!

Callie’s kittens have all been vaccinated and are starting to meet potential adopters—and it’s going great!

So far, 5 of the 8 kittens are pending adoption:
Raine & Blaze (together)
Iris & Autumn (together)
and now... Dewey!

We’re thrilled for these little ones and can’t wait to share more updates as the rest of the crew finds their purr-fect homes!

Cornelius is officially adopted!

From heartbreak to healing, this sweet boy’s journey has been long—but love has finally found its way back to him.

Cornelius, a big, handsome brown tabby around 2–3 years old, once had a home. But for reasons he’ll never understand, he was left to fend for himself. While searching for food and kindness, he found a woman caring for outdoor cats—and from that moment on, he had someone looking out for him again.

But tragedy struck when he unknowingly approached the wrong house. Instead of receiving compassion, Cornelius was met with cruelty—struck so hard he lost consciousness. Injured and afraid, he somehow made his way back to the kind woman’s yard before collapsing. She called Fat Cat Rescue, and we rushed him to emergency care. His injuries were devastating: his jaw had to be realigned, several teeth removed, and he lost vision in one eye. Later, the damaged eye had to be removed completely. But through it all, Cornelius never gave up—and neither did we.

Despite all he’s endured, Cornelius is the gentlest soul. He chirps softly to say hello, loves lap time more than anything, and greets every kind hand with trust and affection. He’s playful, sweet, and has a heart full of love.

And now? He’s home.
His foster family officially adopted him, telling us: “After everything he’s been through, we couldn’t imagine him having to adapt to another home. He walks around like he’s lived here forever—and he spends nearly 24/7 in our laps. He is truly the gentlest cat.”

This is Cornelius with his new dad, Tom. (Tom’s wife, Kathy, is not pictured—but she’s just as smitten.) Together, they’ve given Cornelius the one thing he’s always deserved: a forever family.

Here’s to a lifetime of love, comfort, and laps.

Kitten Updates from Fat Cat Rescue!

On April 1, we welcomed a beautiful young mama cat named Missy and her four adorable kittens to the rescue, thanks to the kindhearted folks at Roger’s Towing, who found and brought them to safety. Now about 7 weeks old, the kittens are eating on their own but still love snuggling up with their sweet, long-haired mama.

Missy has two brown and black tabby kittens and two silver and gray tabby kittens — and they’re all as stunning and sweet as can be!

We’re thrilled to announce that all four of Missy’s kittens are now pending adoption:
Lexi (brown tabby, female) & Levi (gray tabby, male) – pending adoption together
Roxie (brown tabby, female) & Otis/Oti (gray tabby, male) – pending adoption together

And in a perfect happy ending, Missy is being adopted by the wonderful family of Roger’s Towing who rescued her!

Even more good news — all of Callie’s kittens are spoken for as well!

The babies get their first vaccinations tomorrow, and approved adopters will begin meeting them soon in the order their applications were received.

That brings us to 12 kittens with loving homes on the way — and we are beyond grateful. Thank you to everyone who supports rescue and helps us give these beautiful souls the futures they deserve.

Zeppelin Update: Now Serving Fresh Biscuits Daily!

Our sweet buff boy Zeppelin has added a new skill to his resume: professional biscuit maker! That’s right—his foster mom reports that just this past week, Zeppelin started making biscuits like it’s his new full-time job. It’s a big step in his journey and shows just how safe and happy he’s feeling in his foster home.

Between his evening zoomies, constant affection, and now biscuit-making, Zeppelin is blossoming into the perfect companion. He’s affectionate, playful, and so ready to find a forever home where he can keep the love (and the biscuits) coming!

Cornelius has a pending adoption!

After everything he’s been through, Cornelius has finally found a place where he feels truly safe—and his foster family couldn’t imagine him anywhere else. He walks around like he’s lived there forever and spends nearly every moment curled up in their laps.

We’re finalizing the paperwork, and once it’s official, we’ll share his full story (and lots of happy tears). Stay tuned!
