How to Teach Your Dog A Simple Handshake
1️⃣ Get in Position: Have your dog sit in front of you.
2️⃣ Hold a Treat: Show them a treat in your hand, then close your fist.
3️⃣ Encourage Paw Movement: Your dog may naturally paw at your hand—when they do, say "shake" and reward them.
4️⃣ Repeat & Reward: Keep practicing, rewarding each correct attempt.
5️⃣ Add the Handshake Gesture: Once they understand, offer your open hand and say "shake."

The Dog Guard of Ohio office & services will be closed from December 24th to January 2nd so our team can have a little winter break and spend it with their families. We will be back open for our regularly scheduled hours and services on January 3rd, 2024.

Please take the time this week to check your Dog Guard system. If your Transmitter has been turned off or unplugged due to it alarming (most likely a break in the line) please call us to get it fixed. The winter months are upon us and although we work all year round there are some weeks where the ground is just too frozen to get to your broken wire.
Batteries: Do you have a backup? Is the one in your dog's receiver working or has it been dead for awhile? We promise we won't judge you! But definitely order some now if you'd like to get them before Christmas.
Containment Issues: Have an escapee? This should never wait. Always take care of this sooner than later. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR COLLAR TIGHTNESS FIRST and then reach out to us if you are having issues.
