I am currently working on getting back to all the inquiries i have received over the weekend!

We just returned home after being out of town at Springfield, MO so my personal dog, Storm can compete at the North America Diving Dogs National Championships!

please allow me some time as we settle back in, i’m super excited to meet all of you and help you build a better bond with your dogs! 🤍

one common mistake i see a lot of people make when working with their reactive dog is suppressing the behavior.

a lot of professionals are guilty of this too.

while it may give you a quick fix, does it really change the way the dog's mind works?

the simple answer is no.

reactivity is an emotional response to something that scares or arouses them, by suppressing that you are only showing them that whatever the trigger is, they should avoid it.

instead, we should be providing them guidance through:
- engage/disengage games
- prioritizing keeping them under threshold
- practicing impulse control
- not correcting reactions
- rewarding engagement
- play & relationship building
- counter conditioning
- desensitization
- building confidence
and so much more..

they deserve trust and patience, don't limit them or rush the process. it's okay to take it slow and work at their pace.

it'll be more rewarding in the end.
