All applications have to be approved by our adoption team members before you can take a pet home. We do our very best to match each animal with their perfect home, and there may be more than one application in for specific animals at a time.

Before all of our cats become available for adoption, they are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FELV, and up to date on monthly flea/worm prevention.

Adoption fees are as follows:

SO proud of Oahu SPCA Ohana member, Ashley for being crowned Mrs. Hawaii 2024 🤩👏💙🏆👑!!!!

Ashley has been an amazing friend to our animals over the last couple of years- volunteering and also working as a vet assistant with our low cost clinic. You may have even met her at one of our Petco vaccine clinics last year!

Now she’s been crowned Mrs. Hawaii 2024 like the compassionate queen👸🏼we always knew she was! Please join us in congratulating Ashley Howell-Wasson on this great accomplishment and help us wish her well! This woman and future veterinarian is going places 💫.

Yesterday concluded the Oahu SPCA Surf & Rescue Challenge and Fundraiser! Everyone worked so hard making waves for animals, staying active and raising funds for our shelter animals!!! ⁠

Congrats to our big winners in each category! ⁠
🏆 Lori and Alex logged over 1 million steps for animals in the month of May giving them the Most Active "Surfers" awards. ⁠
🏆 Shane and Elaine took the awards for "Surfers" With Most Aloha by raising the most donations for the shelter! ⁠
🏆 Wendy and Blaine captured their Surf & Rescue experience through photos and videos, winning them the Most Photogenic "Surfers" awards. ⁠

All in all it was a successful fundraiser, bringing in close to $10,000 for animals in need. Mahalo for all those who participated, joined in the fun and made a big splash 💦 for shelter pets. ⁠

Introducing Princess 👸🐾!

This beauty came to us in need of a lifesaving surgery. We discovered quickly upon meeting her that she had a pyometra which is an infection in the uterus (preventable by spaying as a young dog). Pyometra is considered serious and life threatening requiring emergency surgery. So that’s exactly what we did.

As a 10-year-old dog undergoing this type of surgery, Princess had a few complications but after an overnight at the ER and medical care and TLC from our shelter staff, Princess pulled through.

Once a farm dog now Princess has been spoiled and shown so much love ❤️ in her foster home, like the true royal she is 👑.

She would love to find a forever home to live out the rest of her years. Does she sound like a perfect match 💕for you? Here’s what her foster has to say about her:
“She loves car rides 🚙and hanging out the window. Big time cuddler. She’s not a fan of allowing personal space! She’s just super sweet. She walks on a leash 🐕‍🦺 perfectly and I haven’t had any issues with her and any other dogs. She lets me know when she has to potty and goes outside. She is just as calm and relaxed as can be. She just wants love”

Mahalo for the generous donation of pet food (which we were actually quite low on!) and people food for our hardworking staff too!

Today was another monumental day— we held our 10TH ANNUAL GIVING THANKS event! 🫶
Our two restaurants cooked and prepared 800+ pounds of turkey, with all the trimmings to feed thousands of those in need at , , , Waianae Boat Harbor, Veteran’s Center …as well as 1000 pounds of donated dog and cat food to the and 🐾
A huge mahalo to Marcus Mariota’s and for their donations and assistance in making this event happen!
We would also like to thank our operations and management team who put in long, early hours to make all of this possible. Mahalo to everyone for a wonderful day of giving back to our community 🤙

Have you met Snoopy 🐶?! This friendly Boxer/ Goldendoodle mix is only 9-months-old and would love to find a forever home 🏡💙. His previous owner was older and couldn’t provide him with the exercise he needed.

Snoopy is a happy guy who gets excited to meet new people and go on adventures and would absolutely love an active family to play with!

These are some great pics of Snoopy that were taken on one of his Doggy Day Trips and shared with us recently 😊! Looks like he makes a good beach buddy!

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii! 🌺 Helping us celebrate this tradition is Good Golly Miss Molly! This cutie came in with a terrible case of demodex mange but with treatment and frequent bathing, she’s looking more and more beautiful each day!

Good Golly Miss Molly is looking for a foster to help finish out her treatment for the next two weeks and should be eligible for adoption shortly after!

If you remember any of the dogs from our “bird litter”, then you might recognize Myna! 🐦‍⬛

For some reason, many of the puppies from this litter were adopted and brought back to the shelter later on 🥺, such as Myna’s siblings Cardinal and Albatross. They had their second chance at love and found loving families to adopt them ❤️, but now it’s unfortunately Myna’s turn for a second chance.

Myna is here at the shelter waiting for the right family to take her home. She a beautiful and sweet girl, she’s house trained and good with kiddos too. Like her siblings, she has a good amount of that hound energy and needs someone who will commit to exercising her and giving her some proper training.

It’s kitten season in Hawaii! Although cats here do have litters year round, we definitely see more kittens that need help in the spring months. This cutie pictured here is 3 week old Clam Chowder 🤍

We can't let another day of National Volunteer Appreciation Week go by without giving a round of appaws 👏🐾 to our amazing, dedicated Oahu SPCA volunteers! We know that one of the biggest donations you can make, is the donation of your time, and we are grateful for the time you spend with our animals, helping the shelter, or whatever your volunteer role may entail!

You help make a difference in the lives of animals, whether you are helping in the office, cleaning kitty litter boxes, socializing and exercising our dogs, doing work around the building, etc.

Join us in making waves for animals in need at our inaugural “Surf & Rescue” virtual fundraiser and challenge! From May 1st to May 31st, let’s paddle out and make a splash for a cause close to our hearts.

With 6.5 MILLION animals entering shelters each year, every stroke and stride counts towards our shared mission of saving lives. Whether you’re catching waves in Waimea or strolling through Central Park, you can make a difference!

Here’s how you can participate:

👉 Sign-up: Starting April 25th, register at https://www.charityfootprints.com/OahuSPCA/
👉 Log your surfing, paddling or other activities and collect donations through personalized web landing pages
👉 Aim for 12,000 “steps” (or 2 hours of surfing) per day or equivalent activity and a goal of $150 raised

A couple of our adopted dogs celebrated birthdays 🥳 with their families recently! Both were at the shelter way too long, but we know it’s because they were holding out for the right people to adopt them 💙.

Happy birthday to Pearly, the Chihuahua mix in the first pictures and Happy Birthday to Nalu the bull terrier!

Clearly, they are very loved and living their best lives in their forever homes!

We had to say goodbye to a good friend and family member this past Saturday 😢.

💙 Scrappy had been in and out of the shelter for 12 years, coming to us initially as just a puppy with the rest of his littermates. He had been adopted out and returned multiple times for different reasons, but we know Scrappy considered the shelter home, which is always why he tried to find his way back to us!

Scrappy made a lot of friends over the years, including Oahu SPCA staff members and volunteers, dog trainers, fosters and more. He enjoyed going for walks, playing at the beach and even paddle boarding.

Scrappy developed a type of cancer several months ago that made it difficult for him to walk, and he unfortunately declined quite a bit in the last week. It was very hard to say goodbye to our friend of so many years, but we’re thankful he’s no longer in pain.

Mahalo to everyone that was a friend to Scrappy. May he rest in love ❤️🌈 ✨.

Aloha!! This sweet old man is named Brody. Just take one look at his adorable face – it's practically impossible not to fall for this charmer! With basic training under his belt, Brody is a quick learner who is eager to please. He would LOVE to find a foster home or FOREVER home. He is easy going and enjoys butt scracthes and relaxing walks. He is a senior, but he still gets around GREAT! He also enjoys relaxing and playing in the water! Yes, brody LOVES LOVES LOVES water. He enjoys car rides and feeling the wind on his face. Brody is the perfect companion for someone that enjoys taking on new adventures and exploring the beautiful island. Brody is truly one of the most gentle, patient, and loving dogs! He would prefer a home no other pets. Please apply to adopt or foster Brody!

My new friend took me on a day trip and wrote, "He liked hiking and LOVED swimming! He was great with women, men, and children." They said I am calm, friendly, docile, gentle, and easy going.

My other new friends said, "He was very well behaved throughout the day. Brody spent the day in Mililani and Waipio at Petsmart, two parks, and a walk around the neighborhood. He really enjoys playing gentle fetch with tennis balls, including one with a squeaker, which needed to be thrown away because he destroyed it with enthusiasm!

Brody seemed very scent-oriented, following his nose everywhere while walking. We incidentally encountered several dogs, mainly from afar, and each time he showed interest via body language and eye contact, but never lunged or barked. Likewise, when Brody walked past homes in the community, he seemed more interested in sniffing the ground; he never lunged or barked back at dogs in their yards who were barking at him. Brody also enjoyed affection from my sister and I. Hugs, kisses on the head, nuzzling on our laps, and receiving pets and verbal praise seemed to make him happy"

Cool Ranch is nacho average dog 😎. He is always wagging his tail and loves going on walks and meeting new friends! This 2-year-old cutie is easy going, good with other dogs and even cats 🐈. He’s learning how to live in a home and has started house training with his foster family.

Just popping into your feed with another post about our sweet boy, Silver 🩶!

Somehow, this kind soul is still searching for a forever home. Silver can be shy when he first meets you, but we think that’s just part of his charm.

He would do best in a home with another dog, he seems to really find comfort in having dog friends and that’s when he comes out of his shell most.

His foster family enjoys taking him for walks and going to the beach 🏖️. He’s a handsome young Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a beautiful white coat.
