(598)

Oahu SPCA was founded to save the lives of companion animals across the islands of Hawaii and became the first no-kill animal shelter in Hawaii's history. For 15 years, Oahu SPCA has dared to challenge the status quo by improving the lives of homeless, feral, abandoned, and abused dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies throughout Hawaii. In doing this work, the Oahu SPCA became much more than the state’

s first and only no-kill animal shelter. The Oahu SPCA is a community center where families come together, volunteer, and learn what it means to be a responsible pet owner. Oahu SPCA also provides the lowest cost sterilization and veterinary services available to the public and has been humanely reducing the homeless pet population by doing so.

Burned Puppy Update.
Our brave little puppies are continuing their recovery after their injuries, and we wanted to share a quick update. They’ve been receiving incredible care at VERC Emergency Hospital, and we are so grateful to the amazing team there for their kindness, expertise, and dedication to these pups.

This week, they were stable enough to come back to the shelter and are now being lovingly fostered by our incredible staff. 💙

The pups have lost a lot of fur so we will be selective of the photos we’re sharing for the time being to be mindful of our sensitive supporters out there. Rest assured they are receiving great care and pain management.

Thank you to everyone who has sent love, positive thoughts, and support. Our fundraiser is still live and accepting donations, as their care has exceeded our original estimation- please consider making a donation today.

The little fighters are on their way to brighter days ☀️

Our Story

The Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded in April 2009, based on a no-kill philosophy. In our first three months we were thrown into a large scale sheltering operation completing the the largest rescue in Hawaii's history. We rescue animals suffering from abuse, neglect and abandonment all over the island each day. More than 20 dogs and cats are rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed each week. We care for approximately 65 dogs and 100 cats per day, including spay/neutering, micro chipping and medical & behavioral rehabilitation in preparation for adoption. With the help of generous supporters such as yourself and the assistance of over 2,000 volunteers, the Oahu SPCA was able to save more than 1,400 animals within the first year. Our large volunteer force helps guarantee that most of the funds received go to the care and treatment of our rescued animals. As a result of the Ma’ili Point Rescue and the sub-sequent intakes, we have more than 200 animals to care for in our 20,000 square foot facility. Eventually we hope to provide low-cost or no-cost sterilization to the public and emergency care for our rescues. Our goal is to gather 200 sponsors to cover monthly expenses for every dog and cat in our shelter.

The Oahu SPCA is a "no-kill shelter," meaning that we do not euthanize because of lack of time or shelter space. The only time euthanasia is even considered is for animals who are in pain with untreatable illness, terminally ill, or even after behavioral modification therapy and medical treatment are still considered to be too dangerous to be around humans and other animals.
