PET GAL SHELLY--A REAL HUMANE HERO!

We would like to share an experience from today with all of you. One of our clients reached out to let us know that Pet Gal Shelly saved a neighbor's dog from certain death! The neighbor forgot that she left her dog outside and went to run errands--in this heat, that can certainly be deadly! Our client and Shelly heard the dog's painful screams. He couldn't stand, and his head was flopping around. Pet Gal Shelly sprung into action and saved this dog's life! The client told us, That dog would have died without her. Bo and I would be hopeless without her! She is a true gem!

"I heard his yelping right when I got out of the car. I followed his cry and found him. I immediately climbed the fence to check if he had anything broken and picked him up to calm him down. I kept giving him water and he started to get better!"

When the neighbor arrived home, Shelly recommended that he take the dog to the vet for fluids. We recognized Shelly for her actions and issued her a $150 spot bonus. We want to remind our team and clients about the importance of acquiring and maintaining certification in Pet CPR and First Aid training. You may someday also need to step in to save a beloved pet!

Get to know a Pet Gal Pet Sitter!

Meet Pet Gal Marie! She’s been caring for our Kailua Kona clients since June of 2021. She provides fantastic pet care not only to her own pets, and our clients' fur babies, but she’s also an active board member, feral cat rescuer, and foster volunteer with AdvoCATS Hawaii. We greatly appreciate her dedication to our community, attention to detail, outstanding care, and professionalism.

In her own words:

My husband and I have lived in Hawaii for 18 years now. I have always loved animals and grew up with quite an assortment of dogs, cats, bunnies, fish, birds, reptiles, and horses. Bird watching has become one of my hobbies and volunteering for AdvoCATS Hawaii, which helps control the feral cat population on the Island. I have fostered abandoned feral kittens and have found them homes through Pet Co adoption days. I have also accumulated a few strays and currently help manage/feed a fixed feral colony. I volunteered at the cat spay/neuter clinics in Kona, helping in post-surgery recovery.
