🐛Yesterday a young farm visitor found a fuzzy Tiger Moth (also called a Woolybear) caterpillar at Winterpast Farm in Wake Forest NC. He asked Farmer Mary to put it in this empty animal hutch to keep the chickens from eating it.

🐭When Farmer Mary was looking for the caterpillar she discovered a secret nest of teeny baby mice 🐁 . Another taste test was provided and this morning it seemed untouched by the mouse Mom. Babies look fine. Some ants 🐜 and flies 🪰 are enjoying the variety of food. Stay tuned for updates if you like baby mice 🐁.
🌧️Not a whole lot of rain today at Winterpast Farm. Farmer Mary and her daughter moved all the bunnies and guinea pigs to indoor cages in the garage this morning in case Tropical Storm Debby heads this way.
🌧️Usually tarps and bungee cords offer enough rain protection for our outdoor animal hutches but we don’t like our small animals to get wet. ⏰Time will tell if we are being over protective.We always have empty clean cages ready in the garage for the number of small caged animals we have living outdoors. These garage cages are also used during the coldest nights in winter.

🥰🦮A very sweet dog caretaker brought old CHARLIE the Golden Retriever to visit 🌲Forest Dog Private Playground in Wake Forest NC today. CHARLIE is deaf and is dying of liver cancer so this may be his first and last visit. He had a great time strolling the fenced four acres, smelling Farmer Mary’s other animal and dog smells and enjoying this beautiful weather. CHARLIE’s name is up on our Forest Dog Friends display and one day Farmer Mary may be moving his name to our new 🌈All dogs Go To Heaven display in Birdsong Chapel located along the forest trail at Winterpast Farm.
