Just got our last group of broilers back from processing yesterday. Fully stocked with whole birds, breasts, wings, thighs, drumsticks, feet, and backs! 😍

The hens love scratching through the leaves looking for treasures on these cool mornings. Unfortunately this happiness doesn't equate to more eggs this time of year as daylight diminishes and moulting season is in full swing.

Finished planting garlic this morning. I held off because of the warm weather. I usually wait until the time of the first frost so I don't get too much top growth going into winter. No till, no dig, 3 -45 foot rows. Just over 500 planted in 4-6" of Earth Care Farm compost. Cardboard with wood chips in the pathways.

I forgot to post how we enjoyed our leg of lamb here on the farm this Easter Sunday. Bone-in leg marinated over night (white wine, oil, sea salt, pepper, fresh rosemary, sage and thyme, 10 cloves of garlic, Chilli flakes). Cooked in front of an open fire for about 4 hours. Delicious!

Harvested popcorn this weekend. I'm very happy with the yield. Especially because of the drought this season and the corn not being irrigated. FGW methods with heavy mulch, planted in our compost, no spray, no fertilizer. Give the worms the tips and we keep the rest. Now into the barn to continue drying 🥰

Good shearing day today. The sheep are much more comfortable! 7 bags of wool will be sent off to be made into Rhody warm blankets. 🙂
