They are doing well on leash. They, like all pups, will need more obedience training, socialization and daily dedicated play/exercise. Three kittens came in today from down south, they were just sooo cute!!
Yet another update:
Check out her Christmas picture🥰
Another update day 3! She is able to eat on her own!
Update day 2! She can maintain temperature now on her own. We have started treatment for the many parasites and she is getting fluids for her dehydration. She has a grade 3 heart murmur. Her gums ( mucus membranes) are starting to have a tiny bit of pink! They were totally white when she came in.
She is a little fighter! Keep the good vibes and prayers coming!
This little pup was turned in by a Good Samaritan. She was in pretty bad shape, tons of parasites, a hole in the top of her head, gums very pale and barely alive.
The team at Paw Prints Animal Hospital took great care of her and she has shown some improvement.

Georgia #9361 is a beautiful 9-month-old female Hound mix. She is a friendly and playful gal. She can be initially shy with new people but she warms up quickly. She is house and crate trained. She knows the commands sit and off. She is good with the dogs she has met; she does go to a dog park. She is working on leash etiquette. She is very curious and loves to learn. She is an active pup who needs daily dedicated exercise and playtime. She has lived with 1 and 3 year-old humans and is good with them. Georgia is in a a foster home and you must make an appointment to meet her. She weighs 50 pounds and is full grown. This pup is microchipped. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new tricks, so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dog's mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups, should be on heartworm preventative; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you are interested in adopting this dog, and are already approved to adopt through our organization, please contact [email protected] with the pup’s name and ID number in the subject line. Here is a Christmas present for everyone! Remember Kaycee? Here he is, in his foster home for Christmas, and he is walking on his own, eating like a champ and doing wonderfully! He is good with other dogs and even kitties!
🎄Christmas miracles DO happen!
Kaycee is doing great!!
Another Kaycee update! Here he is in his foster home. He is eating with gusto again!
Thank you to everyone who has sent good wishes, prayers and positive thoughts!
He is a Christmas miracle!
While he is out of the woods from his intestinal blockage he now needs to recover from being starved. He is back on a gradual refeeding program.
Great news: he is negative for heartworm disease! His bloodwork is normalizing and is expected to make a full recovery!
Update at the bottom!
The 911 email from the shelter was looking for a Christmas miracle for this emaciated pup. The LCAR team discussed it and did what we do best. When Kaycee arrived, he was in way worse shape than the photos suggested. This adult male should weigh about 70 pounds and he weighs a mere 28. When he got to our hospital he was able to stand up for a few seconds to get his IV catheter, all the while wagging his tail. Stay tuned for updates on this sweet boy.
Update:
He wasn’t eating as much as we thought he should. We had done blood work and it showed an slight infection and lots of small issues but with him being so dehydrated that was not unexpected.
We did x rays and saw some small metal objects. We sent him off to a specialist for an ultrasound and it showed he has a foreign body! We suspect a heating pad or blanket. So he will 100% die without surgical intervention but the specialist only gave him a 15% chance of surviving surgery.
So he is scheduled for surgery…
We will keep you posted!
Update on Kaycee! He beat the odds and made it through surgery! The intestinal blockage has been removed! I will put a pic of what it was in the comments. We couldn’t believe what was in his stomach!
He isn’t out of the woods yet but he certainly is a Christmas miracle!
Thank you for the offers of help!🥰
This is not a fund raiser… it is a fascinating story of rescue! We have his care covered! Thank you so very much!!!
If you want to donate to other animals that is beautiful! But this is just to let you know what Last Chance does all year long!
Don’t forget to look in the comments for what caused his problem!
Remember, “liking” is awesome but “sharing” saves lives! Chance #8015 is a 7-year-old male Bulldog/Boxer mix. He is a loyal and independent gentleman. He is both house and crate trained. He knows the commands sit, stay, down off and crate. He walks great on a leash. Chance is extremely personable once he gets to know you, but will take some time at the beginning to open up. He can be indifferent to excessive attention and shows his love by protecting his person. He loves to go for car rides and will eat any and all treats. He weighs 80 pounds and should lose about 10 pounds to meet his ideal weight.
