We recommend making the switch to Guts & Glory when heifers have grown enough and need a little more condition than what Heifer Developer can put on. We often times see maternal-style purebreds getting to this point by 800 pounds.

Winter Egg-spectations: Why Are Your Hens Laying Fewer Eggs? 🥚❄️

Factors that Affect Egg Production:
🔆 Lighting – Once the day length starts to drop below 12-14 hours per day, chickens will often have a natural drop in egg production.
🌡️ Temperature – In cold weather, hens use nutrients to stay warm, reducing resources for egg-laying.
🐔 Age – By their third winter, hens may show a significant decline in egg production.

Tips to Keep Your Flock Happy & Productive:
💡 Add lighting –Use timers or manually control lights to provide 14-18 hours of light per day. (Or let them rest naturally!)
🏠 Winterize the coop – Properly winterize your coop and ensure proper nutrition!
🐥 Add young birds – Consider adding new, young birds to your flock, and research breeds best for egg-laying!
