🌟🌟Reunited!🌟🌟
Brownie has been safely trapped after 9 days on the run. Brownie was not a dog to stay in one area very long and did quite a bit of traveling. Once the call came in that Brownie had pushed the screen door at his home open and was out on the town, ACO Gagnon and CTDGRV Carol team up to get this pup safe. Thank you everyone for all the calls. For the first few days he was making a big loop but never settled into a spot where we could set up a trap. Finally we had him in a known area where we felt we could set up the trap. Unfortunately he got chased out of the area and we had to find him again. He was in full blown survival mode and was not going to come to anyone and actually ran the minute he saw anyone. Then we got another break. On Monday, he was seen in the Nooks Hill Rd/ Sandy La. Area and calls continued to trickle into this area all the way up to his capture. Posters were placed all in the area. Please feel free to remove a poster in celebration of Brownie if you feel you can safely do so. This afternoon a homeowner, that saw him earlier in the day, and another person reported they just saw her. CTDGRV Carol jumped into her SUV and went to the location. Sure enough Carol and the homeowner, Diane spotted the dog. Carol scrambled to get the trap set up quickly before the dog left the area. No time for cameras just the trap. The dog was moving slowly towards them as Carol just dropped some liquid smoke down to draw him towards the trap. The dog spotted Carol and hid in some brush. Carol pretended to leave the area and walked up the road while asking cars that were coming down the road not to go any further because we had a small dog moving towards the trap. Everyone cooperated and wished for Brownie to be safe. Diane ran into her house to quiet her dog and watch from a window. Carol heard the door shut and called Diane to check through her window to see if the door was closed. Sure enough Brownie was safe. He looks a little thin, with a cut on his foot. ACO Gagnon took Brownie into her shelter so she could give him an overall check over and reach out to the owner. Such a survivor, he crossed busy roads and all 10 lbs of him braved the outdoors during this time. Welcome home sweetheart! Thank you thank you thank you. Such a wonderful community. Your calls helped us get him safe. Thank you to Diane, Scoville’s nursery, the Cromwell police, ACO Gagnon, and CTDGRV Carol. Sometimes it takes a village!
TOGETHER WITH CROMWELL ANIMAL CONTROL WE ARE REQUESTING THE FOLLOWING: Do not attemp to catch, follow, or call out this dog. Leave the dog alone. You will only chase if further away. Animal Control and our team are trying to keep the dog in the same area so we can set up a trap. Chasing this dog will only push it ot of the targeted area or into a road where it can get hit by a car. If you see the dog, call dispatch or the number below with exactly where the dog is located- provide the street and house number/landmark, direction of travel, and time. Do not post sighting on social media. We need this dog to feel safe and settle into an area so we can trap.
