Thought for the day:

"Horses need horsemen. It's that simple. I get asked the same questions over and over again and nobody gets it. What level rider is this horse suitable for? I'll tell you, the best one she can get, the best horseman that's willing to buy her. The horse will only ever be as good as the rider. It doesn't matter if it's trained to jump hoops of fire, you're gonna bring it down to your level in no time. Your kid doesn't need a $15,000 horse if they haven't already had $15,000 worth of lessons. You can't buy a violin that will gift you the skill of playing. It's the same for horses. There is no magic horse, only a love for the animal, and a commitment to learning.

Most of you are so unfair and demanding of the horse you miss the forest for the trees. "I want a horse that rides out alone!!" well guess what, you better be ready to spend a year developing that relationship, that bond, that trust, she's not a bike, you can't buy trust.

"I want a horse that can sit and be the same after time off" well friend, this is a commitment to a relationship, not a classic car you take out of the garage twice a year. You can't buy what you're looking for.

"I want a horse my kids can ride" you better be ready to teach your kids how to be horse people because if the horse has to do it, you'll likely see the inside of an ambulance, or a morgue.

You can't buy trust, you cannot buy what comes with building a relationship with an animal over years of dedication.
Horses are a commitment. Training and lessons are essential to keeping a horse and rider at the best of their ability and to help mold that relationship."

"Scenic" is a 2013 registered APHA Buckskin mare. We have used her primarily as a broodmare, as she is just a phenomenal producer. We've color tested her and she is Ee, AA, nCr (heterozygous black, homozygous agouti, heterozygous creme - color genetics sheet attached).

While she is a wonderful producer, she herself is also very sound-minded under saddle. We've ridden her all over the Rocky Mountains and she crosses water, ditches, deadfall, and so much more. She's got more whoa than go, but will move out if asked. Scenic doesn't have a finished walk/trot/canter, as we've used her strictly in the mountains, but she could easily be taught if that's the route you'd like to take her.

As a yearling, she cut her coronet band back by her heel. She is completely sound when kept up on trimming/shoeing. We usually just keep front shoes on her and she does great.

Of the 4 foals she's had with us, all are extremely friendly and curious. They are great thinkers and very willing. She is very fertile and easy to breed; we didn't breed her back last year as we wanted her to get a break after 4 years of full-time mothering.

Meet "Sheza Million Dollar Baby" aka Millie, the gaited Missouri Foxtrotter trail partner you've been looking for. 🤠

Millie is 14'1, 7 years old, and is great for riders of all ages and experience, due to her gentle nature and willing disposition. Since I started her as a 2-year-old, she has been solid through every phase of the process! We all know a horse is only as solid as their foundation.
She will always meet you at the gate and loves any attention you can give her. Definitely a respectful, "in your pocket" type of horse.

Millie can pivot, side-pass, back up, load and back out of a trailer (ramp or step). She has been trail ridden extensively and crosses bridges, deadfall, water, and has summited large mountain peaks throughout the Rocky Mountains. She's a horse with that innate common sense to make smart decisions while riding, making her the ultimate joy to ride.
She is the winner of "Grandkids Choice award" every winter for pulling them through the snow on their sleds.

Millie is great to trim and shoe. She has hard, well-shaped feet, and is comfortable being ridden and pastured with or without shoes.

She is up-to-date on all vaccinations and deworming, and has a clean coggins test. She is sound, sure-footed, is a very easy-keeper.

Millie is also a successful reproducer. She has raised two foals with no complications in the covering, birthing, and mothering process.

If you are looking for a safe and reliable horse who resembles the modern day unicorn, Millie is your next horse!!

McKenna here -
I've sat pondering on this for a couple days now, unsure how to adequately express the feelings.
I don't think there is a way, and that is what makes it so special. When words fail, you realize the impact something had on your life, and this mighty sorrel Stallion was no different.
HTR'S Rock N Roller, entered the great fields of heaven on October 19th. While I am so deeply saddened with his passing, I am also deeply grateful he is no longer in pain and suffering.
When I started training Foxtrotters over a decade ago, I was blessed to be riding some incredible horses. The more I rode, the more I learned, and there were certain horses that just stuck out to me. Horses that had a similar stunning look, a very willing mind, and aimed to please no matter what discipline we were learning.
Upon looking at their papers, I noticed every one of them had the same sire, some "HTR horse". With my limited knowledge of Foxtrotter bloodlines, I didn't realize this "HTR horse" was a World Grand Champion and an own son of Hall of Fame stallion, Southern Jazz.
I kept training, kept riding, and kept obsessing over HTR'S Rock N Roller. I went on to win several World Grand Champions titles on his foals, both in the front and back arenas, and trail rode each of them through Rocky Mountain country only the bears have seen.
Fast forward to the cold day in November of 2020 when my good friend and riding coworker, Bryce Jepperson told me of the chance to OWN this incredible stallion.
Talk about Christmas come early. My parents and I drove the next week to Illinois where I got to bring the beautiful sorrel with the star home to Utah.
What a blessing to watch horse owners faces light up as their foal hits the ground and it's not only stunning, but talented as well. What a blessing to hear time and time again, "This is the friendliest, most willing c**t I've ever had". I was never lying when I said that I've trained enough of Rock's babies to know that they are ALL willing, sweet, friendly, gorgeous, and born with a natural Foxtrot. Being able to offer this kind of horse to the public was satisfactory on a million levels.
Rock Man. There are no words. Just memories, feelings, and so much love. Thank you for being the kind of horse that makes people EXCITED to have horses. The world is a better place because of your impact. For me, it's been over a decade of ooo-ing and awe-ing at the mighty "HTR'S Rock N Roller". I don't think I'll ever get over you, pretty boy. ❤️

2022 APHA Dunskin filly - "POCO SUGAR N SPICE"
She's been handled since day 1, including getting her feet picked up and being regularly trimmed, loading and backing out of a trailer, and this winter she had lots of desensitization with plastic, being sacked out with a saddle, and lunges both directions with ease. She's very soft on the lunge line and has an incredible stop.
Spice is also extremely smart and aims to please. She pivots both directions on the ground and is very respectful of space. She's been ponied all over the mountains (with and without a saddle) and has crossed water, ditches, and deadfall.
She's definitely one you won't want to miss out on.
She has a stacked pedigree and is full of possibilities. Going back to Doc Bar, Jerry Lee Surprise, Ris Key Business, and Skipper W, she could be trained for whatever discipline you decide to take her.
She not only has the pedigree, but the color to match.
A Dunskin with her color genetics can produce Palomino, Sorrel, Bay, Buckskin, Bay Dun, Yellow Dun, Dunalino, or Dunskin (dun+buckskin) foals (depending on the color of stallion). Even if you strictly wanted a broodmare that you could start handling from the beginning, she's the one for you.
We have owned the Dam since birth and she is phenomenal. Great trail horse with a very sweet personality. Come take a look at both of them when you come!

It's always a good day when the grandkids come to ride!
LaDee and Seuss were born, raised, and trained at our place. They have the best lesson and kids horses because they've seen it all (and what they haven't seen, we know them well enough to predict how they would act in an unknown situation.).
Looking for a beginner horse? Best advice we can give: buy the type of horse you would take lessons on. Don't go for the 3 year old that you can "grow together" with. It's better to buy an older horse that you can gain confidence on than a young one that still needs experience.
Have you ridden either of these two? Are you team LaDee or team Seuss?

"If you are fond of a horse and wish to do him a real favor - train him well. Teach him good manners, good habits, both in the stable and under the saddle. You need never worry about the future of such a horse if for any reason, you may have to part with him. You assure him of friends wherever he goes. Perhaps the greatest kindness you can do any horse is to educate him well."
We love this quote and find truth in it every time we sell one of our great horses. ❤️

We had a blast teaching the interns at KB Horses today! So happy for the great home Sarge and Blue are going to, and grateful we got to spend some time teaching them about the training process these two have had.
When you buy a Flory Horse, you are buying a horse that has been "bred well, trained right" as our motto goes. If you're buying a weanling, that baby will have been handled and loved on since day one, having had their first trim, bridle-path clipped, been tied, led, ponied alongside their moms on trail rides, as well as gained immense amounts of trust and confidence in humans and how a respectful relationship with them can exist.
If you're buying a yearling, you can expect them to be trained up until you step in the saddle. Round-pen work, pivots, side-passing, desensitization of all sorts, and saddle sacked-out. Basically, you just wait for them to grow up so you can start the riding process.
With hundreds of hours spent, you're getting a horse that has had many experiences with dogs, kids, cars, tractors, and a multiplicity of other things.
You're getting a horse we've put our heart into, because we believe that every horse deserves a chance to be GREAT. Starting them young gives them that chance to understand how beautiful the partnership between man-horse can be. It gives them confidence. They are curious. And who doesn't like a curious horse that wants to be their friend?
We love setting these young horses up for the greatest success! And we love to see you both thrive together!

We've been so caught up with babies, we haven't posted the yearlings in a while. 🥹 They're growing so fast!
Sarge and Blue have been bought and are going to their new home together on Saturday, so this was a nostalgic day to watch them eat and run around the pasture all together.

Look what surprised us last night!
The cross between our mare Scenic and "Whipp Hancock Dante" was proven to be very successful with last year's bay c**t, Sarge.
After the boys got done fishing late last night, Josh walked by the horses in the big pen on the way to our trailer and noticed one laying down (not uncommon). But he decided to check on it and saw it was Scenic in labor (uncommon! 😂). He caught her, and moved her to the barn so the yearlings (who were VERY curious!) wouldn't bother her.
She pushed, got up, moved around, pushed some more and soon enough, baby came out. ScenicXDante produce babies with long legs and big bones, and this filly was no exception!
Scenic is homozygous agouti, but she has never thrown her dilution gene until now! This little filly has the same star as her mom and no white anywhere else. 😍
So grateful for healthy moms and babies! 🙏
