Along with @patienceforpaws , we tested several dogs for the more advanced canine good citizen titles this past weekend. Community canine (CGCA) and urban canine good citizen (CGCU) are long exams with no treats allowed, so they require a TON of focus from our dogs in an unpredictable environment where we ask them to ignore tempting distractions (trash, food, dog pals, traffic, bikes, strollers, etc). Both Aslan (Boerboel) and Goose (golden retriever) passed BOTH exams! Nice work, teams! We had a lovely pack chill at Rodie's feed & pet supply in Clayton, Ca. The store is packed with goodies, so it was the perfect place to ask our pups to hang out and ignore fun distractions! Thanks to @rei for having caring, thoughtful staff who know how to give training service pups space and time when needed! Here we see Koda (6mon standard poodle) on her first trip to REI. She rocked tucking under benches and cots, seeing manikins, ignoring lots of shoppers, waiting patiently in line, hearing footfalls above (a unique wooden two story REI), and peering over the railing at people below.
