It can be tempting to let our dogs get all their energy out doing "high octane" activities - fetch, chasing other dogs, chasing squirrels, etc. this can be really bad for them mentally AND physically. It's much safer to expend energy in 'medium' activities: walking, hiking, slowly biking, doggie fitness programs, etc.
particularly for working dog breeds, too much frenzied activity can create more anxiety, over arousal, and restlessness rather than fulfillment and balance. If you feel like your dog is an overtired toddler at Disney land, it's definitely time to invest more time in thoughtful exercise and training programs.
