Sunny Sunday rides are... Creeky Routson training the gorgeous Franky on a cold (for California) and blustery (for anywhere) day. They are a beautiful pair, don’t you think? He’s powerful and strong and she has the skills to show his abilities to advantage.
If you’re like us, you’re looking at the sky (and the weather apps) with fingers crossed. With friends, instead of “hello,” it’s “he’s so high!” A nervous (or exhausted) laugh and it’s all about our horses.
Thunder and lightning yesterday, with a rainbow for a heartbeat, and more weather drama. Today’s forecast is more cold gray skies and steady rain. This is the stuff we dream about when our summers are in triple digits and it’s all about the heat.
We’re a single minded group, focused on the great gifts our horses give us, so here we are, rain or shine.
Stay safe and stay sane. It’ll pass and you will ride the ride of your dreams.

My drive to the barn this week has been dramatic. It still is. With years of dry California winters, it has become a dangerous drive on slick, wet, and muddy roads. Like a friend living out her winter in Wyoming, I am taking it slow, and hope you are too.
So, here’s a little throwback Thursday post of my week at the barn: soupy fog, water water everywhere, everyone in the indoor arena, quiet hacks, bouncing horses, and a wild little creek!
Today is a great day to hang out on horseTV and watch FEI games. All the regional and state parks in our area are closed. The police and emergency and tow trucks are all busy. It’s a bad day to ride on the trails or float your boat, kayak, or ark in the neighborhood.
Today’s forecast, in case you wonder, is the same (not better) as yesterday. You know what is going to happen today.

Happy New Year!
“No more champagne
And the fireworks are through
Here we are, me and you
…
Now’s the time for us to say Happy New Year
Happy New Year
May we all have a vision now and then
Of a world where every neighbor is a friend
Happy New Year
Happy New Year
May we all have our hopes, our will to try …” —ABBA
Throwback Thursday to that warm day in April this year when Creeky successfully choreographed a team of her clients to ride a quadrille to the beat of Shania Twain’s “Feel Like a Woman.”
(We’re loving the return of rain to California with the kind of appreciation that a few years of drought taught us, but the truth is, we’re ready for some sun and soft warm breezes)

All I want for the Holidays is more money to buy stuff for my horse with.

Monday is not an alpha mare
Tackle Mondays like an alpha mare. If you can't pin your ears at it, eat it, kick it, or bite it...have nothing to do with it.

GivingTuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. A global generosity movement, it unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world!
Three of our favorites include Urban Cowgirl Ranch for their empowerment of inner-city children, Horses' Honor for their rescue and support of senior equines, and DreamPower Horsemanship for their equine-assisted activities and therapies making a difference for children and veterans.
Who do you support?

There are many wonderful places in the world, but one of my favorite places is on the back of my horse.

Happy Thanksgiving! We've given our chestnut horses names like Pumpkin, Ginger, Spice, Flash, Princess, and Cloud. You could say they're the horsey equivalent of a Pumpkin Spice Latte! In honor of their fabulous color, and hot little characters, November is Chestnut Horse month! #northpeakequestrian
