Boarder Feature: Sarah Eaton
Sarah currently owns two horses, Andalusians, Campeon (Camps) and Besucon (Besu). It's always great to get to know our fellow DSE boarders. Meet Sarah!
"I bought Campeon 3.5 years ago during Covid. He's now a 14 year Andalusian and although has a very grumpy personality, can be very sweet and loving (on his own terms)! Besu I bought just last year through my previous trainer who found him for me in the Netherlands. He only had a couple of months training so he stayed with her to get his first 6 months of real training under his belt before he was imported here the end of October. Besu is a PRE Andalusian who has just turned 6. He has a puppy dog personality, always very curious and I think if allowed would love to be a house horse.
I've been riding horses since I was 9 but really just rode trail and grew up riding Arabians and just on trail. I put in thousands of miles on trail but never really had any formal training. So when I bought Camps a few years ago, I was curious about Dressage and Working Equitation and new that the breed did quite well in these disciplines. While Camps has some upper level training, he also came with some training baggage that we've spent the last few years undoing to get him to be more supple and accepting of the bit. The last six months we've been working on our second level training and had our first show in February where we got a 61 and 62, placing two firsts at our first show! While we had a great show, I know we can do better, so will be working on finessing our second level tests in the coming months. My goal is to bring along both boys to PSG over the years. Besu has a long way to go, but I think Camps is finally hitting a good stride to continue to move up the levels! In addition, I've been doing a few shows a year for Working Equitation and although we are at Intro, I've received a High Point for the dressage phase and came in 3rd in my class last fall. I look to move up to second level this year as Camps and I really enjoy the discipline and variety of the sport.
I grew up in Santa Cruz but have lived in Southern California for over 20 years now! I'm the Vice President of a Marketing agency and so I'm at the barn early every morning before my work day begins. I also enjoy snow skiing in the winter and wake surfing in summer. I love spending time at the beach and with friends during my off times and travel whenever I can. Last year I went to Portugal for the first time and absolutely loved it. I'll be heading to Kenya this summer for the first time. I love exploring new countries and cultures and hope to continue to have opportunities to travel to new and exciting places!"
