You heard it here first, folks:
🙅♀️ No people food 🙅♀️
While dogs CAN benefit from fruits and veggies (like a frozen carrot or mashed up banana on a lick mat), it’s best to avoid giving them food straight from your plate.
Getting into this habit makes it tough to track their daily calories, which can lead to weight gain. Extra pounds can contribute to issues like osteoarthritis and even shorten their lifespan. And we want our pets around as long as possible, right?
For rewards, stick to dog treats! If they’re on a diet, opt for low-calorie treats or use their kibble as a reward instead.
(And yes, Grandpa, this applies to you too. We see you sneaking treats under the table! 😉)

Did you know that keeping your pet at a healthy weight is the most effective way to prevent chronic pain as they get older?
Just like humans have BMI, pets have something similar called a Body Condition Score (BCS). Assessing your pet’s BCS involves both looking at and feeling your pet, and Dr. Troy is here to walk you through what to check for!
If you’re unsure about whether or not your pet is a healthy weight, it might be time for a visit to the vet 💚

Come be a fly on the wall as Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner Dr. Troy carefully examines 15-year-old Reina for signs of pain.
Her process involves two key steps:
✅ Palpating her body to check for any discomfort
✅ Observing how she moves and completes transitions: walking, turning, sitting, lying down, and getting back up
These steps give us lots of info about how your pet might be feeling, even if they aren’t showing obvious signs like whining or limping.
Miss Reina has undergone months of therapy, including shockwave therapy, which has improved her mobility and helped correct muscle imbalances in her legs.
If your dog or cat seems to be slowing down, don’t worry - there are plenty of ways to help them stay comfortable and active. We’re here to chat about options whenever you’re ready! 💚
Hear Dr. Troy, Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner, talk all about one of her all-time favorite methods of pain management: shockwave therapy!
One of the great things about this treatment is that it’s very safe, highly effective, and doesn’t require sedation. In fact, many dogs take a nap during the 15-30 minute session. It kinda feels like getting a massage at the doggy spa 🧖♀️
Think your dog could benefit from shockwave therapy? Give us a call so we can discuss the options!
