TAYLOR & MAZEL (7mo GSD siblings) completed their Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Beth and Rick rescued these girls when they were 4 months old. Since we had trained their two previous GSD's (RIP Sierra and MaKenzie) they called on me once again to assist. Having had previous GSDs, they both had a pretty good understanding of the breed. So we went through all the commands, not only teaching the puppies, but reinforcing Beth's and Rick's leadership skills. Both girls are quick learners and get to pretty much go everywhere Beth and Rick go. We will meet again in a more or so, just to touch bases. (Beth and Rick have also become good friends over the years).

COCO (1yr Labra Doodle) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Tuesday. Alejandra and Alejandro found Coco while looking at ads. He was only 6 weeks old at the time, but the offer meant he had to be adopted at that time. Alejandra and Alejandro knew Coco would need a good home, especially at that age, so they brought him home. They already had an older dog, so they decided to work with Coco on their own. They were pretty successful, but Alejandra wanted more, professional training. She needed a little extra help with jumping, mouthing, leave it, and drop it. Also, leash walking. We worked on all of those issues as well as all other commands he didn't know yet. He caught on easily, and Alejandra strengthened her leadership skills as she worked with him. It was a win-win situation!!

ENZO (3mo Lab) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Billy saw an ad for Enzo on Craigs List. When he inquired, he was told he had to take the puppy now, who was only 6 weeks old. Even though puppies shouldn't be removed from their mothers and littermates until 8 weeks, he did not want to lose the chance of getting Enzo. It has worked out well. Billy has taken very good care of Enzo and even though he was so very young, he took to training like a champ. At 3 months he has learned every command and is quite good at all of them. Billy will continue working with Enzo and is considering advanced training sometime down the line.

KIKO (2yr Chihuahua mix) completed his Basic Obedience Course on Tuesday. Sasha rescued Kiko a year ago and tried attending a training class, but it was not a successful endeavor. So, she reached out to me for one-on-one training for Kiko as well as for herself. It was beneficial for the both of them. They not only learned all commands, but they learned them together, which made their relationship even stronger. Kiko was an awesome student, ready to learn each time I came.

WHISKEY (4.5mo BerneDoodle) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Giovanna and Richard are repeat clients. I trained Teddy and Chloe about 6 years ago. Teddy has since passed, but Chloe is still young and vibrant. They decided to get her another buddy and Whiskey was the chosen one. He has learned all commands and is improving daily. They want to work with him a little more on their own and then want to continue with advanced training. Will seeing them again in a few weeks!

MISO (5mo Terrier Mix) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course on 7-14-25. She is such a sweet girl and has done well in learning all the basic commands. Nicole and Alex are very interested in continuing training, first with the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification, and then on to Therapy Dog training and certification. Miso is certainly a good candidate for both. Can't wait to get started again!

SMOKEY (5mo Australian Shepherd) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Gustavo and Jessica has had him since he was 9 weeks old and began working with him on their own at that time. We were able to build on what he already knew, as well as add all that he didn't. Since he was their first puppy, they both learned a lot about being the pack leader and were able to build on their leadership skills. It was a win-win!!

DAISY (5mo Husky/Shepherd mix) completed her Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Such a sweet girl and a blessing to Lia and Dave. They rescued her in April, this year, and she has brought so much joy to them. She has learned all commands and is currently learning to walk properly on the leash and will be beginning group pack walks for socialization. Love this big girl, who will only be getting bigger. Perhaps there is some Great Dane in her DNA???

TATO (5.5mo Pug) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course yesterday. Alisa had previously worked on several commands with Tato on her own but then wanted someone with expertise to help solidify the commands and to help with her own leadership skills. There were also some issues with resource guarding (which we will address further in a few weeks). By the end of the course, Tato knew all commands and responded appropriately, 95% of the time. However, once Alisa sharpens her leadership skills, Tato's response will be closer to 100%. Ironically, my first training job was at a PetSmart and who, but her father, was the one that hired me. Small world, true! Wonderful people!!

MURPHY (1.5yr GSD) completed her Basic Obedience Course 0n 5-19-25. Christine had taken Murphy through group lessons last summer but wanted to freshen up both on her leadership skills as well as Murphy's commands. They both did well. Murphy learned to respond more consistently to Christine's more calm, assertive tone. Murphy was much more confident in herself by the end of the course and definitely better at walking on the leash. A well earned certificate by both girls!

ICE (1yr White Swiss Shepherd) completed his Puppy Basic Obedience Course on Wednesday. He has made great strides in learning all his commands, being more obedient, and walking better on the leash. His confidence has improved greatly and he is a very happy guy! Mario and Lydia have also strengthened their leadership skills and will continue working on that. The three of them have built a stronger realationship; knowing who is Pack Leader and who is follower. Great job by all three!

ZERO (1yr Husky mix) & CHARLIE (10mo Golden Doodle) completed their Basic Obedience & Behavior Modification Course yesterday. They were both a bit rowdy and unstructured, so this course was very much needed. Not only for the two of them but for Amands and Jay, who were at wits end trying to control them. Zero had had some training but it all seemed to go out the window when Charlie arrived. Zero had been staying outside 95% of the time, only in the house for sleeping because the two of them were totally out of control together (playing too rough and not listening). That is changing! They both have learned all commands, Amanda and Jay have become stronger Pack Leaders, and their "together" sessions are more structured and limited to 15-20 minutes at this time. Zero comes in the house more often and they are learning "place/stay". Amanda and Jay are very happy with what they have learned and are please Zero and Charlie are more controllable A win-win!.
