Please read this post if you are interested in or have been looking for a white cockatoo.
This is Mario, a boarder here at the shop. He is getting lots of attention, toys, treats, and love. But he is also an excellent representation of the volume of a cockatoo, and to get a good idea of what it is truly like to live with a cockatoo play this video on your loudest speaker turned all the way up on repeat for at least half an hour.
So many people contact us looking for white cockatoos from goffins to mollucans every week.
And we always answer the inquiries with the same response: We do not and will never again sell white cockatoos due to the extreme rate of rehoming, abandonment, abuse, and neglect.
We send everyone who wants a white cockatoo to rescues, as many of them are overfilled with cockatoos in need of homes.
These birds can live as long or longer than humans, they are incredibly intelligent and extremely emotional. They can and do destroy furniture, belongings, and home structures quickly and with ease, they can have times of extreme aggression and be very possesive of their chosen human, and they are LOUD, Easily the loudest animal you could find in a home, as loud or louder than a fire alarm, enough to cause hearing damage, and they can sometimes carry on screaming at this level for HOURS.
While all pet birds can have their challenges, and not all White cockatoos are the same level of challenge, over the years it has been more than abundantly clear, that White cockatoos are far less likely to be suited to being a pet bird than just about any pther available parrot species.
We at the Bird and Reptile Connection love all birds, and we do not wish to diaparage the wonderful bond between parrots and their human caretakers, but we do hope to make the relationships between humans and birds a more mutally beneficial and positive experience for all involved, across species and lifetimes.
These babies aren't for sale yet but still very cute.
When they are in the shop and available we'll share how they have grown. :)
