Fiery Dancer got an extremely special call this week for this little filly!! All of our calls are special and I’ve seen fighters but this little one takes the cake!! At 1 week of age her real mother tried to kill her!! A broken nose and jaw among with and eye so damaged that it will have to be removed! 😔 but through it all this filly found love and kindness in our nursemare Fiery Dancer!! This is just her second year with us but we picked the right lady for the job!! Within 15 minutes of entering the stall with this terrified baby Dancer had this baby comfortable enough for her to start looking to nurse again!! Due to the seriousness of the swelling her mouth would not cooperate so the vets milked Dancer and tube fed her Dancers milk until she was finally able to latch on and drink by herself approximately 36 hours later!! As hard as it was to see this poor baby hurt in such a way…it was amazing to see how hopeful and brighter she became once she understood that Dancer was there to love and help her heal!! 🙏❤️🙏

This is Maybe!!! She has quite a story! We rescued her when she was 2 yrs old..she was so weak that when she layed down it took 4 of us to get her up then 2 weeks after we got her she was getting stronger..but ended up having Tetanus..we rushed to get the antitoxin and started her on penicillin!! However 3-4 days into the treatment we almost lost her twice due to a hypersensitivity to the Pen!! We tried to treat her with oral antibiotics after that but they made her colic!! So we were forced to just hope and pray she made it! So when people asked if I thought she was going to make I would say “I don’t know…Maybe!! And that is how she got her name “Maybe She Did”
Fast forward a few years….Maybe was used as a recipient mare to allow her to have enough foals to be able to become one of the most wonderful nursemares we have!! This is her with her third orphaned foal of her nursemare career!! She was meant to be!! ❤️❤️❤️

So I have a bunch of catching up to do!! I’ll start with Romance Dance!! This is only her second year with us…I can’t tell you how lucky we are to have her!! We got to her baby at approximately 1:30am….though I’m sure she thought she should be sleeping at that hour she was thrilled when she met her new baby boy that had lost his momma earlier that day!! Baby got a full belly and immediately crashed for a big nap! The last 2 pics show them the next day having a grand time together!! 😱Romance Dance why aren’t you still grey!! 😂😂

Ohhh Angie!! Always such a class act!! We are so blessed to have this lovely beautiful mare on our team!! Angie’s Gold has raised 4 orphaned foals for us…you’d never know they weren’t hers…both Angie and baby fell in love immediately!! I will add that baby’s mom is fine but did have a medical emergency that didn’t allow her to raise her own baby this year!!

In marches the Queen…Queen Amira to be exact!! One of the kindest mares you’ll ever meet! Queen Amira has been with us quite a few years…I have yet to see her step out of line! Amira mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all?……Queen Amira IS the fairest of them all!! ❤️❤️❤️ Northeast Nursemares is proud to have her on the team!!

Team NY was at it again with Miss Valentine!! If you look closely she has a perfect ❤️ on her forehead!! 😊. She was thrilled to meet her new filly!! This is Miss Valentines second year being a hormonally induced Nursemare with us and she hitting it out of the park!! She’s lovely and young….we love having her on our team!!! ❤️

Yesterday I was able to relax a bit out in the mares field and got to spend some quality time with them…I was in my happy place and wondered why it was me that He picked to have such a special life with these ladies!! I was truly moved…almost to tears..with the overwhelming joy I was feeling…so this morning I woke up and for whatever reason I was inspired to write this…I hope you enjoy it!!!

GOD CREATED THE NURSEMARE

When God created the broodmare he realized that he had created an extraordinary being that would also recreate an even more incredible version of innocence, spirit, and valor!

He knew that though all of this should be joyful and happy…that this was not possible and that He needed to also create something equally as wonderful to help when things did not go as planned…
SO GOD CREATED THE NURSEMARE!!

He needed a mare that could live in different situations easily, without worry of her home…
SO GOD CREATED THE NURSEMARE!

A mare with lots of milk to grow a big strong c**t!!
SO GOD CREATED THE NURSEMARE!

He said…she needs to be confident and sassy enough to teach that filly her true worth!!!
SO GOD CREATED THE NURSEMARE!

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY…
He needed a mare kind and sweet…with enough love in her heart to mother a foal that wasn’t even hers…a mare that would stand guard and protect that foal no matter the cost…
SO GOD CREATED THE NURSEMARE!

ARE YOU PREPARED!!
As the 2024 foaling season arrives we’re all excited to see our hard work and dedication come full circle!! Our Broodmares have been baking what we are hoping to be our future!! At this point some only have days to go before that little bundle of legs and ears bless us with their presence!! So truly a blessed/stressful time for all horsemen and women!! When things go as planned it all smiles grins and laughter!! Some of the sweetest moments you’ll ever get to experience!! Don’t let one of those moments go unfelt or appreciated!! It’s important to remember that!! It will be what gets you through the harder ones that don’t go as planned!! Sorry but here comes reality to hit you right upside the head!!!
•Hurry up please get here somethings not right!
•Ok let’s get that mare/foal to the clinic ASAP!
•why won’t she let it nurse…she hates it!
•This baby needs supportive care STAT!
•I can’t believe she foaled she doesn’t even have a bag!!
And the absolute dreaded….
•OH dear lord…she’s gone! We have to find a new Mommy!
These are the most common reason for needing an emergency nursemare!!
Some luckily get to know when they’ll be needing a nursemare but most never get the “heads up” so it becomes frantic phone calls and tons of anxiety until the situation is diffused by a loving caring NURSEMARE!
Some may choose to bucket or bottle feed… and that can be done. However it is no longer cost/time effective! Not to mention your foal is likely to have health and social issues with this choice. More importantly most choose this avenue as they feel it more affordable than getting a nursemare. WRONG!!! The fact is, it’s like comparing apples to lobster tail!! There is no comparison!! I just spoke with some people that paid to have a baby raised both ways just last year!! Her cost to have a baby receiving milk replacer was $80/per day…plus milk replacer!!! That’s $2400/month and then I can quote her to say “on top of that we kept getting huge vet bills for additional vet checks and charges” Even if you divide that fee in half…it still costs less than providing your baby with a nursemare! Not to mention your baby is now loved, protected, disciplined and fed as directed by Mother Nature!
Once you make the decision to get a nursemare you should understand that:
It will cost between $3000-$5000.
You do have choices nowadays!! You could use a “TRADITIONAL” Nursemare that had a biological foal that will be taken from her so your baby can have a mom…some of those biological foals are only hours old.. when they are pulled from their moms. All of them have very unsure futures! Some won’t survive…the lucky ones do go to great homes or rescues but the balance is not in their favor for sure!! I’m by no means and animal rights person but from a very young age I never approved, though I did understand the need for quality nursemares was huge!! The issues with a traditional nursemare is,
•You have to wait for her to foal before she can be used
•Her Bio baby will become the “new” orphan
•You have to be able to breed her back ASAP so she can be used the following year! There are extra fees to be paid if that doesn’t happen understandably!
•Lastly, Most traditional nursemares do need to be hobbled, blindfolded, tied and drugged for an undetermined amount of time to eventually accept your foal !
So what’s the other nursemare option, you ask??!!
HORMONALLY INDUCED NURSEMARES
HI/“programmed” nursemares are an ethical solution when you are in need! These mares receive a series of hormones to encourage lactation. It’s a win for most breeders that used to panic over needing a nursemare!
•They don’t have to foal prior to helping your foal!
•There is no “throw away Bio baby
•HI nursemares can always be available with proper planning we like to call it “Nursemares on Demand”
•When bonded correctly HI nursemares are in the stall loving and licking your baby upon arrival
•There is no need to ever breed her back
These nursemares are as close to perfect as you can get but some things you need to keep in mind is:
•These mares do cost more $$ as there is a lot of time and money involved in preparing them for their foals.
•They may have a 3-5 day introduction period where you may have to supplement your foal
•Some “HI”nursemares fail due to misunderstanding and lack of knowledge on how to support these mares!

This weeks SPOT LIGHT belongs to FORENSICS EDGE and her filly!! Turn up the volume and enjoy that sound!!! It took this little one 11 days to learn how to do this!! It’s the most beautiful sound in the world especially after all the hard work and effort of her care providers and veterinarians!! ❤️

DISTORTED BLAZE Doing what she does best!! This beautiful little filly was so excited to see Distorted Blaze after losing her momma earlier in the day!! Distorted Blaze was so reassuring!! Gotta love a good nursemare that can change the life of this little one in need!! ❤️

SPITEFUL LOVE This mare just keeps getting better and better at this nursemare thing!! Great mother with a huge bag of milk!! When she saw this little filly she got so excited that the bonding had to move forward even quicker than usual!! This was one of my favorite bondings!! So much love from this mare!! Heavensent for sure!!❤️

SINGMEASONG Just in case you needed to see one of the cutest bondings ever…This rather tall little darling stole not only my heart…but Singmeasong could not stop kissing her!! This little girl had very little to no suckle reflex when we got there..however within 2 hours of Singmeasong being with her and a little help from her friends she latched on and took a few sips!! Nature is an amazing thing to watch and though this foal was diagnosed with Dummy Foal Syndrome she certainly is a smart/sassy little cookie!! Can’t wait to hear the update on this one!!❤️🙏😊
