After surgery, this handsome boy needed something to stop him from licking his incision.

Dr. Campbell is very strict about patient comfort being a priority. She is gentle and kind in a way that brings out the best in the animals she works with.

Plastic cones work, but the avocado was the winning strategy on this day thanks to Dr. Campbell!

What do you think the diagnosis is? Answer listed under the photos :)

This dog had surgery here at Walworth Animal Hospital to remove the problem, and is feeling much better!

Friendly reminder to anyone who may give or receive flowers and candy for Valentine’s Day 🄰

Lilies are toxic to cats. SUPER toxic. Even a little bit of pollen in a bouquet or a petal chewed on can kill a cat. We see it often enough that we feel compelled to recommend that you keep them out of your house entirely. They can make a dog sick as well, but in cats they are deadly.

Candy- sugar free versions may contain xylitol. This is something frequently found in gum and is toxic to cats AND dogs. We are also seeing it in more candy and peanut butter as well. If ingested, they must get to a vet for appropriate treatment for the best chance of survival.

2024 was an amazing year full of challenges and joy as we helped our patients. We look forward to 2025, especially when it means we get to spend time with cheerful dogs like Miss G ā™„ļø

A big thank you to our generous clients who have donated $107 to our "Paws for a Cause" efforts for the month of December. These donations go directly to Wayne County Humane Society to help many dogs and cats find safe homes.

Below is one of our favorites, Sally! She's spent some time with us and we can vouch for her cheerful good attitude. We love her pretty blue eyes and wish she'd find a good home that appreciates a sweet Husky. She was great with kids in her foster home and could be crated quietly when the humans were gone!

These sweet foster kittens are icing on the cake! One of them is spoken for but the other two females are looking for loving indoor homes šŸ˜‰

Today 4 of our veterinarians, 3 receptionists, 5 LVTs, and 2 kennel staff helped a chock full day of surgeries, appointments, and emergencies. We even had our favorite internal medicine specialist (Dr. Parente) stop by to do specialty diagnostics on a favorite Labrador patient of ours (we love you KW!).

We are actively hiring for several positions in our hospital in order to cope with the increasing need for practical and progressive private (meaning no corporate shareholders!) veterinary care in our community.

Resumes may be sent to [email protected] for part time kennel and reception. We are also looking for a full time LVT šŸ™‚

Also…

If you know a veterinarian who likes the small town feel of enjoying familiar friendly clients and generations of their pets- send them our way! We have a deep bench of excellent staff… and doctors who are eager to teach as well as learn.

Dr. Hines will make them laugh, tell stories of decades of crazy cases, show them how to rock a challenging surgery without breaking a sweat, and maaaaybe share his snack stash.

Dr Campbell will teach them how to ultrasound something rare and give them 8 ways to fix it with medicine or surgery. She’ll also hand them a can of cheese whiz so the patient is cheerful through it all.

Dr Cappiello will show them that there is no such thing as a lost cause. She handles the routine stuff well but is also the type to jump in the deep end of complex cases without hesitation.

Dr. Drouin will know everyone, every pet, and most all of the surgical or medical ways of making every minutea of things work. She’s a problem solver who is full of good cheer and optimism.

Dr. Miller will show them some entertaining sign language, a lot of neat surgical techniques, and she’ll ask them if they want to be proud of where they work. She’s a stickler for joy and peace, because that’s what she found when she joined Walworth Animal Hospital.

We are busy, and we want to hire on more staff and help even more! Help us spread the word via social media and Google reviews if you can!

Happy Halloween from all of us at WAH!

Be sure to keep your animals from joining the trick or treaters through a door left open too long. And don’t forget to save the good chocolate for the moms (and not the dog!).

But most of all, have fun dressing up your pets. It’s the best part of Halloween!!!

This past week was national veterinary technicians week. Our LVTs have college degrees that give them the clinical skills to help aid in the health and happiness of our patients.

They also possess the ability to help answer questions, trouble shoot tech issues, and navigate the complex veterinary world of getting things done in an efficient manner.

Their abilities are great. But what we value even more is the connection they cultivate with clients and patients. Our techs are our vet’s right hands. They are the soothers, the cuddlers, the ā€œwait a second let’s find a solutionā€ diplomats.

And for that, we can all be grateful. Many smart humans can be trained to put an IV in or run an anesthesia protocol. But not all people would care as much as our excellent LVTs.

Hugs to them! NE, KS, AF, MS, EH, MM, AK, SS, MP, and AZ- we appreciate you all!

Yay happy update in comments below!

Help us keep an eye out for one of our patients who went missing in Walworth. She will be very scared being away from her owners.

Fingers crossed for a safe return!

**Lost Dog**

Maggie went missing from the area of Ontario Center Road and Eddy Road, Walworth, NY, on 10/12/2024. Maggie went missing wearing a collar and she is microchipped.

The phone lines are down again despite Verizon fixing something down the street on Friday that required a new part. We’ve called Verizon repeatedly and they state they will get someone out here between 11-3 pm.

You can imagine our frustration. But we will be patient and ask that you contact us via options listed below if you encounter a prolonged busy signal.

You can email reception@walworthanimalhospital for medication refill requests or appt questions. You can also text message our staff via the PetPage app located in our front screen on our website www.walworthanimalhospital.com.

Here’s hoping the 4th time this year is the charm ;)

Update: This cat has been found (thanks to our kennel manager DZ and a very committed owner) and is back home safe with her owners! Thanks everyone for sharing and caring.

This little lady decided to go on an adventure instead of attending her vet visit today. She escaped her carrier in our parking lot and ran off into the woods.

She is wearing a collar with her tag on it, but is very shy. Her owners are very worried (trap has been set, items from home and food are present as lures).

If you have any information on this cat, please let us know. Feel free to share her photo around to people who can help keep a look out!

Our Story

Walworth Animal Hospital is one of the few private veterinarian clinics left in this area. We pride ourselves with being able to tailor our recommendations to the needs of our patients and the people who bring them in! Three of our veterinarians have been foundation members of the clinic, and have been here for most of their ~long~careers. The other two veterinarians are homegrown, both having grown up right here in Wayne county (and are happy to be back!).
