🐈 Sunday 10/19 was another Last Hope Low Cost TNR Clinic open to the public, but the photo here is not a typical TNR clinic photo.🐈‍⬛️
Last Hope again arranged for the surgical van to come to our parking lot. At 5 a.m., five Last Hope dogs were spayed & neutered.
Later, people who had reserved spots began bringing ferals inside humane traps for spay/neuter, 2 vaccines-rabies & FVRCP, and ear-tips..
By late afternoon, 36 cats were TNRed ...one older kitten went to Last Hope to be socialized.
And before the end of the day, 5 small kittens came into Last Hope via Last Hope Team TNR running the clinic.
Last Hope had agreed to help the 11 cats/kittens in the yard of a Brentwood family moving back to their country.
Last Hope volunteers will be going to Brentwood yard to trap the parents & remaining kittens.
This kitten saga is just one of thousands upon thousands of feline fertility scenarios that make pre-emptive TNR so important to controlling cat overpopulation & suffering.
A real eye opener at an ironic time.

🐶 Bark & Bay if You Love RICHARD, the Belly Rub Beagle Boy, as much as Last Hope Does.💙
He is an "actor out of work", as the old expression would say.
RICHARD is adorable & dramatic...he only walks a few feet, and makes a beeline to every potential belly rubber, and then flips over on his back-Belly Up- so the rubbing can begin.
The look in his eyes is so endearing. It is impossible to refuse his request for a belly rub.
RICHARD is a 3 year old Beagle rescued from Kentucky.
Doubt if he got much belly rubbing there, if he is a discarded hunting dog.
Adding to his charm- when RICHARD arrived on the transport in early October, our volunteers noticed his front legs are twisted. There was no mention of his front legs in his sending shelter records.
Our vet says this is a congenital defect that does NOT require surgery.
He can run, jump up on the bench with no effort and no pain for close-up belly rubs.
He may need meds in the future to stave off arthritis...but many dogs will.
His twisty bowed front legs add to his quirky charm.
RICHARD's temperament seems top-notch..He wants to.
spread his sweetness to every visitor & volunteer & win over many new friends...and hopefully win over an ADOPTER.

🎂 WOW! For the 4th year in a row, Last Hope's Dogs & Cats Received all the Gifts on Christian's Birthday-Oct. 4th🥳

Christian Kropacek is an ultra-kind kid.
For the 4th time , Christian- a true animal lover-asked guests at his 11th Birthday Party to bring gifts for the orphan pets at Last Hope rather than for him. His parties have been adventures.
Christian is a 5th grader at Central Blvd Elem in Bethpage. He loves all kinds of.creatures ... so at his 8th & 9th party, he & everyone who attended his party met a wildlife rehabber who brings seized illegally- owned or neglected animals who are now tame. He gave the kids a chance to interact
w/ the animals including snakes, lizards, rabbits, chinchillas, prairie dogs & more.
On his 10th birthday, Christian & guests went to a game arcade, and brought gifts for Last Hope pups & kitties.
This year for Christian 's 11th birthday, his party moved to a slime Escape Room in Massapequa ..They escaped w/ the gifts they had for Last Hope pets.
Meanwhile, the young guests brought pet food, treats, leashes, cat toys & scratchers, kongs, paper towels, bleach, gift cards (close to $200 worth) , cash ( about $200 )& lots more.
Christian, and his Mom & Dad delivered the birthday bonanza yesterday.
Our kittens and some of the dogs were thrilled to meet this young man who puts their welfare above treating himself to birthday gifts.
Can you imagine that?
Christian is a wonderful role model..At 8 years old, he was inspired to gather gifts for others by his 2 cousins who gather supplies for patients at a children's hospital in Connecticut, and another cousin who asks for cash donations for the free roaming cats at the volcano site of Pompei.

She came to Last Hope via a veterinary office in that "Saturday Night Fever" borough.
BROOKLYN isn't looking for Tabby Manero . She is looking for someone as nice & kind as YOU.

🐕 Today the Last Hope Traveling Team Visited Island Trees Library. 📕
Our ambassadogs were MASEE & WILLIAM WALLACE.
They mingled outside
with library patrons, and thanked people for their supply donations to Last Hope.
The pups were escorted at the event by volunteers Jaimi, Lori, Chloe, Kim, Dan D , and Dan V.

🐕 COOPER is a wonderful Golden Retriever mix from Puerto Rico who needs a new hacienda and new cuidador or cuidadora (caretaker) through no
fault of his own.🇵🇷
COOPER is about 6yr old, and was originally adopted from a Golden Retriever in Puerto Rico. He was well-trained like the couple's Chihuahua & cat.
When the couple broke-up, the young man got custody of COOPER. This owner with COOPER-custody is a vet tech. They only make minimum wage in Puerto Rico.
He was unable to afford an apartment where he was allowed a dog COOPER's size.
The vet tech was forced to board COOPER at his animal hospital since February. He knows that this is no ideal life for a wonderful dog he loves so much.
COOPER is good with other dogs & cats. He loves people, and knows commands in Spanish. Sure becoming bilingual will not be difficult for COOPER. He already has an English name.

*Pumpkin left Last Hope just in time for Christmas in 2018 and he's been helping raise his human siblings since he got his first one in 2020. He absolutely adores them but they're hard work! Sometimes he just needs some quiet time to relax and hang out with his friends.

🐈 Our tiny tabby OZZY wants to sing his hit "No More Tears", but he is alone in his Wantagh Cat Center cage. His rock star sisters TINA & ZEPPELIN have been adopted and he is confused & sad.😢
All 3 belong to the litter of 5 trapped in a Hicksville yard at 5 weeks old.
OZZY is 4 months now. Their rescuer would come to the Center to socialize & reassure them every day.
OZZY is bewildered. He doesn't know where his sisters went. Purrhaps he thinks they are purrforming somewhere. ZEPPELIN singing " A Whole Lotta Love" and TINA belting out "What's Love Got to Do with It?".
Well, " love" is the operative word. OZZY needs " A Whole Lotta Love" and a Home.

Such a step up in the world for one of MAYFLOWER's kittens, and the tortie clone of Mom, born on the grounds of Pilgrim State Hospital in Brentwood.
