🐈 Do You Remember PALOMA? She was one of ANASTASIA's white twin daughters. 😻
This alabaster feline family was rescued in Mastic Beach last year. The 6 week old sisters were with their beautiful, snow white Mom ANASTASIA.
PALOMA was renamed NOVA as soon as her Mom Christine adopted her from Petco Wantagh because she was to be the "new girl" in her pet family where a dog and a cat would be meeting her soooon.
That sooon will be a year ago on Dec. 4th. Her 1st Gotcha Day will be next week.
A minor miracle happened over the last year. Both PALOMA & NOVA had black smudges on the top of their heads. Some people call these smudges- " the thumb prints of God". ( See photos in comments).
Her smudges have vanished.
PALOMA is pure white like her beautiful Mom ANASTASIA.
We're hoping BLANCA' s Mom will see this FB post & give us a report on whether BLANCA's smudges have disappeared too.

🐢 We are looking for a special owner for BILLY Beagle. He has been with Last Hope since the summer, and is not happy living in a kennel setting.🐢
Handsome BILLY is a year old, and originally came to Last Hope as an unclaimed stray at Babylon Shelter.
BILLY does quite well at off-site events ...partly because he is out of the kennel & exercising- and partly because he is not stressed in that setting.
BILLY is quite smart, but willful, and knows how to get what he wants, at times in an assertive way.
He requires lots of exercise to tire him out. A home setting, where he can run around a yard, may lessen his necessary amount of activity.
BILLY can be possessive of items, and for the.owner's sake, and for the safety of others, BILLY's owner should pro-active about not putting him in such a situation.
BILLY has the potential to make lots of progress with obedience training.
He likes other dogs & kids, but it is best that BILLY be an only dog in a home, and
not with kids.
BILLY is a "good dog work in progress"...and with the right person the good dog will
materialize.

🐈 Last Hope Motto: "No Mama Cat Left Behind."
We are making that promise to lovely PHOEBE. πŸˆβ€β¬›οΈ
This beautiful 1.5 yr old black cat was found in Hempstead nursing 5 kittens. She & her babies were placed in Last Hope foster care with volunteer Angela.
Often, the babies are spay/ neutered & ready for adoption long before their Mom because it is best to wait for Mom's milk to dry up before her spay surgery.
Plus, most people choose kittens over adult cats.
In reality, a kitten's temperament isn't set in stone the way an adult cat's is.
Volunteers know which adult cats are shy, which are outgoing, which have the potential to be lap cats ...
If Mama cats rescued from outdoors are friendly like PHOEBE, Last Hope always strives to find them Forever Homes. Feral Mama cats are TNR'ed after kittens are weaned.
PHOEBE is a love. Meet her at Last Hope Cat Center in Wantagh. Up close &
purrs -onally.

Hope when Visitors from I.R.I. Came to the Center for a Talk & Tour. πŸ‘© I.R.I. stands for Innovative Resources for Independence, and the organization has headquarters in Elmont.
Since 1984, the non-profit I.R.I. has offered adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities opportunities, quality services & meaningful opportunities.
Our visitors ages 20 thr 60 are from the day program & arrived by bus to learn about Last Hope's mission & meet our adoptable dogs & cats.
We talked about animal rescue & rehab of neglected pets, the importance of spay/neuter ,volunteerism, adoption & more before meeting our dogs & cats.
This was the 2nd I.R.I. Last Hope visit this fall. Our visitors are very enthusiastic about our homeless pets.

🌼 Has "mum" been the word about MUM? 🌻
How did this gorgeous kitten not get an application in a snap?
MUM is a beautifully marked 3 month old tabbico who was rescued from a Valley Stream sewer when 5 weeks old.
Next question- How did a 5 week old kitten get into a sewer?
Since she arrived at Last Hope the same day as SUNFLOWER the tiny male tuxedo who made his presence known inside the engine of a car leaving Central Islip, since they were about the same age, and since both were saved by John Debacker in the knick.of time, both MUM & SUNFLOWER were raised at Last Hope Cat Center in the same cage. They get along well.
SUNFLOWER has an app, but MUM doesn't.
Someone nice who is mesmerized with MUM here needs to rush to Last Hope in Wantagh to meet, greet, & adopt Miss MUM.🐈

🍳 For DAISY Beagle -Pot Roast is a Prelude to Turkey on Thanksgiving.πŸ¦ƒ
You may recall that DAISY was the Last Hope senior Beagle who came back to the Wantagh Adoption Center for 4 months after her elderly owner fell, was hospitalized, & could no longer care for her dear DAISY, who is close to 12 yr old.
Previous to this fall, her owner had a stroke several years before which caused her to become legally blind..She continued to care for DAISY with monitoring by a Last Hope volunteer (me)..
During those years, DAISY'S Mom relied on cereal, sandwiches, & microwaved dinners..so no real cooking smells were permeating DAISY'S little world.
And since her Mom had no family in NY, a Thanksgiving turkey roasting in the oven was never part of DAISY's experience...
Going back further to her 2 vrs or so as a neglected Kentucky Beagle, it's doubtful if DAISY were ever allowed in a KY house....so cooking smells were off-limits too.
In August, DAISY hit Beagle Lotto and was adopted by a devoted couple who treat their Beagles as very close family members. She has become the Beagle BFF to STEWIE the couple's mature Beagle who was grieving the loss of his older Beagle Best buddy.
All this sets the scene for what I am about to say.
If DAISY is 11, 12, 13 or even older, and she is a Beagle, a breed with the 2nd best sniffer after a Bloodhound. This means that the wonderful waftings of homecooking are brand new to her Beagly nose.
Recently, her new Mom Linda got a photo of DAISY waiting patiently for her Dad's pot roast in the oven to be served.
WAIT! If dinner is at home on Thursday this week- DAISY's nose has a Big Bird surprise in store....and I don't mean the balloon in the Macy's Parade!
Happy Thanksgiving to DAISY, and to all rescued pets spending their first holiday feast with their Forever Families.πŸ¦ƒ

πŸ¦ƒ SQUASH is exceptional.πŸ”
Look closely at his eyes. Do you see that they are baby blue?
His color pattern is exceptional too.
. He has splotches of beige, accentuated with black on his tail, & a black beauty mark on the side of his button nose.
He talks & then purrs.
Put the coloring & sound clues together, and SQUASH has the makings of a subtle Siamese mix in the midst of a litter of 4.
His brother APPLE CIDER is black, sister HAZEL is orange tabby, & brother LEAF is white & ginger. All 4 kittens are delightful.
They are 3 months old, & SQUASH's siblings' eyes have turned green.
Only vocal SQUASH has baby blue peepers.
This beautiful litter was rescued at 4 .5 weeks, while nursing from their Mom AUTUMN.
HAZEL & LEAF have an approved adoption app together.
Both SQUASH & APPLE CIDER need "takers".
We would love to see all 4 of these 4 wonderful kittens in loving homes soooooon.

🐢 TANK is a Sherman filled with happiness. ❀️
He was a Georgia rescue on a transport rescue to Last Hope in in August. πŸ‘
He's a small, stocky, smooth Corgi type, 5 years old .
TANK was adopted in August, and returned to us yesterday through no fault of his own.
He greeted each volunteer with that Sherman filled with happiness as he came backthroughthe door... TANK loves people, and likes other dogs on a case by case basis.
.....TANK is looking for a happy home where he can say " tanks" for the memories.

😻 Overlapping Gotcha' Days belong to JADE & JACK, adopted one year apart by Last
Hope volunteer Gina.
We knew her as JADE, a classic calico, that Gina adopted a year ago November.
Her name is now GEMMA.
Gina brought this sweet calico home as a buddy for JACK, a tabby, now answering to WILLIE. He was adopted in November 2023.
Gina was right. They are BFFs, and act like littermates from another mother. They get along famously..
JACK (now WILLIE) marked his 2nd Gotcha' Day last week, while JADE (now GEMMA) celebrates her 1st Gotcha'Day TODAY.
So Feline Festive! All the best to Gina, JACK, & JADE.
