Our journey with Australian Cattle Dogs began with a trip to the local stockyard in 2007. We went to look at livestock and unexpectedly brought home a little blue puppy instead. She was being sold by a boy on the front steps of the sale entrance. A little shy and covered in fleas, we couldn’t go home without her. She quickly stole our hearts and proved to be a valuable asset around the farm. Following us wherever we’d go, helping move goats, and keeping watch of our property, she was always by our sides and eager to please. Who knew our unexpected addition would turn out to be the perfect breed for us? She is really what started our passion. As time went on, we brought home our second Australian Cattle Dog and eventually raised a couple litters. We enjoyed having them around the farm where they made awesome herding dogs for our goats, watch dogs, trail buddies, and nice all around family companions. Always up for an adventure, fun and active, protective and loyal. They fit in perfectly on our farm. In 2017 we acquired our first AKC registered dog and transitioned to an AKC registered breeding program.
Temperament, conformation, working ability, and proven pedigrees are very important to us. We’ve taken an extraordinary amount of time and dedication selecting dogs for our program. They need to have drive to work stock, athletic ability, correct conformation, and most importantly, good attitudes! Biddable, intelligent, loyal, and mentally sound companions are what we strive for. We want dogs that have potential for work, show, or pet. A dog that can go to work in the day and relax and watch tv with your family at night. We’ve been thrilled with our foundation dog, SleepyHollows Blevins Buckle. He’s everything we were looking for. Top notch temperament, athletic, solid conformation, working bloodlines, and a gorgeous blue mottled coat. What’s not to love? He has been a dream come true for us and is the foundation sire of our breeding program.
We also have Blevins’ dam, BlueYonders Get Your Shine On From South Mountain, better known as Shine, who is another huge piece to the foundation of our program. She is about as close to perfect as they come. Wonderful temperament, typical cattle dog and beautiful conformation with plenty of drive. We’ve retained two of her daughters and one of her granddaughters for our program. Along with Shine, we have several unrelated gals who are all excellent examples of the breed.
