Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County - CARE of DC

Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County - CARE of DC CARE of DC is a "No Kill" organization. We take in animals that are "at risk" and try to find forever homes for them.

CARE of DC is a "No Kill", non profit organization. Our goal is to save as many animals from euthanasia as possible. We take our animals from high kill shelters and work to rehabilitate them and find forever homes. Our organization works closely with other rescues and shelters that share in our values. We have developed a strong network of "no kill" partners and we assist them on a regular basis.

We take in corporate donations, warehouse them and then work to distribute the donated food and supplies to our partners in need.

Tiny Annabelle was found by a kind-hearted samaritan, wandering the city streets at just 6 weeks old — scared, alone, and with a ruptured eye. She was brought to a shelter in hopes of being saved, but because she was too young for surgery, she was scheduled to be euthanized.

Her soft purrs, brave spirit, and playful spark won us over, and we knew her story was far from over.

Annabelle underwent surgery to remove her damaged eye, and she’s since made a full recovery — proving every single day just how strong and resilient she is. Now spayed, healed, and full of love, Annabelle is officially ready to find her forever home!

Despite everything she’s been through, Annabelle greets everyone with gentle affection and endless purrs. She’s spunky, curious, and never lets anything slow her down. She’s a reminder that even the smallest souls can overcome the toughest beginnings.

If you’re looking for a little miracle to fill your home with love, Annabelle is ready to meet you!💖

✨ Transformation Thursday! ✨

Two more of our Wallkill hoarding dogs were groomed today and wow, what a difference! They don’t even look like the same dogs. 💕

When they first arrived, they were matted from head to toe and scared of almost everything. Today, they’re clean, comfortable, and feeling like brand-new pups. 🐾

A huge thank-you to Emma at Mutts Mansion who took her time and treated them with such patience and care. These makeovers are more than just cosmetic — they’re the first step toward a fresh start and a happy future. ❤️

Take a look at their incredible before and after photos!

These two girls will be ready for adoption in the next couple of weeks. If you're interested in offering one of them a home, please submit an application at careofdc.org
