Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County - CARE of DC

Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County - CARE of DC CARE of DC is a "No Kill" organization. We take in animals that are "at risk" and try to find forever homes for them.

CARE of DC is a "No Kill", non profit organization. Our goal is to save as many animals from euthanasia as possible. We take our animals from high kill shelters and work to rehabilitate them and find forever homes. Our organization works closely with other rescues and shelters that share in our values. We have developed a strong network of "no kill" partners and we assist them on a regular basis.

We take in corporate donations, warehouse them and then work to distribute the donated food and supplies to our partners in need.

Today was a big day for one of our hoarding case dogs!
When we first brought him in, one of our team members spent hours carefully cutting away painful mats with a pair of scissors. But today, he got to visit a professional groomer — and the difference is incredible.

The mats were so severe and tight to his skin that they came off in two solid pieces from his front legs (you can see them in the picture).

Check out his amazing before and after! 💕

Please help us choose a name for this little warrior. We would appreciate suggestions in the comments!

We're going to put all the name suggestions in a hat and announce the winner on Monday 🙂

We recently got a desperate call for help from the ACC in Queens. 💔

Caramel Apple had been found tied up in Brooklyn and brought to the shelter for safety — but soon after, he had come down with pneumonia.

For those who may not know, NYC shelters are overflowing with animals every single day. Sadly, that means the euthanasia list grows longer than anyone can imagine.

When a dog like Caramel Apple gets sick, their chances of survival drop even more — not because anyone wants it that way, but because there simply isn’t enough space or resources.

Thankfully, we saw, we heard and we understood their cry and stepped in. 🍎💕

Caramel Apple is now safe in our care, receiving treatment, love, and a second chance at life. His fight isn’t over yet — but he’s not fighting alone.

Be part of his story. Be part of his happy ending.

👉 Apply to adopt Caramel Apple today at CAREofDC.org 🐾

🎉🐶 Happy 3-Week Birthday to Mamacita’s “Hungry Hippos”! 🍼💗

Three weeks ago, Mamacita surprised us with TEN beautiful puppies — and today, these little wiggle worms are officially three weeks old!

They’ve grown so much that they’ve officially graduated from their kiddie pool to a big puppy pen, because, let’s just say… the pool could no longer contain all that cuteness (and chaos!). 😄

We lovingly call them the Hungry Hippos, because mealtime is their favorite time of day — and they don’t hold back! 🐷🍽️

Stay tuned for more updates as they continue to grow, wobble, and discover the world one paw at a time. 💕

We’re at Barton Orchards until 3om today! Come visit us 🐶🐶
