Hi All, Brian Here. Michelle and I have been blocking alot of people advertising their pages without asking permission and spamming comments on replies by our members and friends. So this is a pinned post on our page, so if you are new make sure you read this post. We don't have a problem sharing other pages as long as they are legit and not scam pages.
So remember if we dont personally endorse the page click at your own risk.
Also this is a business page not a place to pick up people. I'll start banning those that leave comments asking to receive friend requests and using crappy pickup lines from this moment foward. If you feel creeped out report the post to the admins of this page and we will deal with it right away. The safety of our members are important.

We've been over run with messages and emails about kittens. We are not breeding again until the end of the year, when our stud becomes of age. Our waiting list is super long now and I appreciate everybody's interest, but we will have nothing available until the end of the year. But please follow our page for updates.

A pile of Siamese. I guess we better get the big bed out if the wash..😛😂

I never thought I would have to make this post but I have to. Please do not spam your FB page advertisements on our page. If you have a page you would like us to link please contact us by messenger. With all the scams going around lately we don't want to see any of our follower get caught up in anything bad. I (Brian) run a couple of pages and Moderate a couple as well, I personally have seen this happen time and time again. So if we don't post it ourselves, please refrain from visiting it until we get a chance to verify that it is legitimate.
Thank you,
Michelle and Brian

Since cat food manufacturers don’t have to include the carbohydrate amount on pet food labels, we have to determine that very important piece of information ourselves. I think it is just one of the sneaky aspects of the pet food industry that the carbohydrate content of pet foods is not required on the label.

Let’s break down how to do this—it is not hard once you do it a few times, even for those of us who are math-averse (myself included). This will give a rough estimate.

Here is the Guaranteed Analysis (GA) from Lotus Duck Pate Grain-Free Canned Cat Food from the Chewy website.
Guaranteed Analysis
Crude Protein
9.0% min
Crude Fat
4.0% min
Crude Fiber
0.75% max
Moisture
78.0% max
Ash
2.75% max
_____________________________________________________
Step 1.
Add up the percent of protein + fat + fiber + moisture + ash

In this example, 9 + 4 + 0.75 + 78 + 2.75=94.5
Step 2.
Subtract the amount from Step 1 from 100

100-94.5=5.5

This food has 5.5% carbs, which doesn’t sound too bad, right? But this number includes the moisture, so it is not a very useful number to really understand how much of this food is carbs, so we must next convert this to dry matter basis.
Step 3.
Dry Matter Basis (DMB)
First subtract the % of moisture in the food from 100,

100-78=22

Next divide the amount of carbs from Step 2 by this number,
5.5/22=0.25

then multiply by 100.
0.25 X 100=25
So, this food actually has 25% carbs on DMB.
You want to feed foods that have 10% carbs or less on DMB.

I encourage everyone to give this a try—pick some foods in your pantry and/or from a website and practice figuring out carbs and DMB. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. It is an important way for us as pet parents to educate and empower ourselves. 💪

You can figure out the amount of fat or protein in food using this same formula. For example, the protein from the Guaranteed Analysis of this food is 9%. So, we divide 9 by 22=0.41, then multiply by 100=41% protein in this food on DMB.
