This week, October 13-19th, is National Veterinary Technician Appreciation week. While we always appreciate what our veterinary technicians (and our entire staff) do, we wanted to take the time to spotlight what a veterinary technician is. This way, the public can appreciate what they do as well! We at Wareham Animal Hospital are proud to say that all of our veterinary technicians have been certified through the state of Massachusetts. A Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) is someone who has gone through formal education and extensive training to become certified through their state of practice. They keep up this certification by completing continuing education in veterinary medicine every year. Veterinary technicians do a lot more than snuggle your beloved pets! They perform diagnostics, such as radiographs and blood-work, administer medications and life-saving treatments, safely anesthetize pets during surgery, and so much more! Hello everyone, please welcome our newest, hardworking, compassionate Doctor to the team Dr. Jess Fields.

Dr. Jess Fields is a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for animal welfare, rooted in a lifelong love of pets. Originally from South Florida, Dr. Fields started working in the veterinary field at an early age. A proud graduate of Queens University of Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science, Dr. Fields furthered her education by earning a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois. With a focus on emergency medicine and surgery, Dr. Fields dedicates their career to ensuring pets receive timely and effective care. When not in the clinic, she enjoys life with her two dogs, who inspire her ongoing commitment to animal well-being.

Hello, my name is Arie! I’ve been working at Wareham Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant since they opened in November of 2023. I absolutely love what I do there as an assistant but I’m currently working on my undergraduate degree so I can go to Veterinary school, my hope is to become a surgeon! In my spare time, I spend time with my sidekick Lilo, an almost 3 year old cattle dog and my horse Myles. I’ve had Myles for a little over 9 years and started competitively barrel racing about 3 years ago at local rodeos and the National Barrel Horse Association. I’m extremely lucky to have the support of my friends, family and co-workers. Myles & I are sponsored by Wareham Animal Hospital. We will be competing in our biggest race of the season this weekend in Connecticut, wish us luck!
