National Pet Health Insurance Month is in September every year. It is a national awareness day to make sure that you, as a pet parent, have all the knowledge you need to keep your pet safe and healthy. With more than 179 million pets in North America, only around 1.5 million pets are insured. This leaves the vast majority of pet owners at risk of ridiculously high bills in case of an emergency.
⭐️ Make sure to read the policy and know what you are policy covers.
⭐️ Make sure to see if preexisting conditions are covered.
⭐️ Make sure you understand how to get reimbursements. Do you file a claim or does your veterinarian file a claim for you?

There is a misconception that cats are incredibly self-reliant, and just don’t need the kind of super clingy cuddling you find with dogs. The fact is that cats are incredibly social animals and they require the same level of care and attention that we lavish on our dogs. So, on this Happy Cat Month, whether you have a pet kitty or a bigger cat of a different kind, make sure you have a purr-fectly happy cat.

⭐️ Rescue Spotlight! ⭐️
Nessa can be found at Critical Care for Animal Angels (CCAA).
Here is a bio from CCAA:
Our brave warrior Nessa was picked up by the police when she was running the streets of her neighborhood and guarding people from their garages. She was testy with us volunteers when we went to the pound to get to know her. She definitely prefers women once she gets to know them.
So, we pulled a heartworm postitive dog that had no manners, had had multiple litters of puppies, and strong territorial issues. But is isn't she beautiful.
Nessa has been with us for two years and has come along way. She loves me and Margaret. We finally got an outdoor kennel open so we moved her outside so she could safely get to know the volunteers and she is making huge strides. She was a perfect lady at the vets this morning for her yearly checkup. She was also an angel for her photoshoot this morning.
If you are a single lady without small kids and lots of strangers over, this is your girl. She is the perfect guard girl.

Rescue Spotlight!
Huckleberry can be found at Critical Care for Animal Angels (CCAA).
Here is the description from CCAA: Huckleberry is all energy from morning till night. He needs a very active family without small children. He is bossy so would do best as an only dog. He is very affectionate but because he lived his first three years on a chain, do not understand what balls are. He loves stuffed animals and blankets. He is doing well on his crate training. We would like to find him a family that understands that Jack Russell breed.

Rescue Spotlight!!!
Shorty is at Critical Care for Animal Angels (CCAA).
Here is the description of Shorty from CCAA:
This precious baby is Shorty. We believe he is a Basset and Pit mix angel. He has the shortest little legs and is oh so cute!!! He is very affectionate and doing great on his crate training. He is a bossy boy that likes to pick on dogs that are shorter than he is.
He comes from a cruelty case so will need lots of love and patience to make up for the horrible years he spent chained up, neglected and abused.
He will need a home that does not have small children and would do best as an only pet but his tiny body has enough love in him to fill your entire heart and home. We hope to find him a loving home before his fourth birthday which is coming up very soon. Wouldn't getting a home be the best present ever!!
Shorty is located in Byron, Georgia. Please email us at [email protected] for an adoption application.

National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day is celebrated on August 22nd in the United States. The day is a reminder for cat owners to schedule their cat's annual health check-up.
Routine vet visits are important for a cat's health and well-being. Cats can suffer from many of the same diseases as humans and dogs, but they are often good at hiding their illnesses. Regular checkups can help veterinarians identify signs of illness that might be easy to overlook. Some reasons to take your cat to the vet include:
🐾 Dental care: Can help prevent periodontal disease
🐾 Balanced nutrition: Can help prevent obesity
🐾 Catching diseases early: Cats can become infected with dangerous diseases from stray cats

Rescue Spotlight!
Monty can be found at Critical Care for Animal Angels (CCAA).
Here is the description from CCAA:
Monty is a Swiss Mountain Dog mix. Monty was very much loved by his previous adopter. He lived indoors and was covered in affection. Sadly, she passed away from cancer, leaving Monty all alone in the world again. Monty is a big senior boy, and
has excellent house manners. He is okay with dogs his size, but will not tolerate small yappy ones. He is quite the bed hog and snuggler.

Rescue Spotlight!
Helga can be found at Critical Care for Animal Angels (CCAA).
Here is the description from CCAA:
Helga is a 4 year old English Bulldog and weighs 38 pounds.
This girl LOVES her toys, especially her tennis balls! Her favorite thing in the world is playing with her foster dad, especially playing tug or stalking her tennis balls. Helga also loves to cuddle, get scratches, and she can be the sweetest, funniest girl! Helga really doesn't like being in a crate, but she is completely housetrained and has never torn anything up. She does not get crated in her foster home, and she does very well.

Helga has some behavioral issues that are being worked on with her veterinarian, her trainer, and her foster family and will need a home that does not have children and has experience with the English Bulldog breed.

She has had surgery to correct her Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome and is in excellent health.
