Through generous donations by our supporters we are able to take in, help, heal, care for, and change the lives of animals, mainly focusing on horses. A little bit about me...

Ever since I was a little girl I've had a HUGE passion for animals. I was around 8 or 9 when the first cat wandered to our door step, half starved and hit by a car, and ultimately needing surgery. I begged my parents to kee

p and help him, (my mom can tell you all about the tears and the "can we PLEASE save him" pleading that I did, as well as how he ended up with the title "the million dollar cat" for all of his vet bills.)😂 We ended up saving him and he lived with us for many years. After that I was hooked on helping animals (and honestly just helping others in general... it's probably why I'm a nurse 😉.) Throughout the years I've always loved helping animals in need, supporting causes for abused or neglected animals, and simply just rooting for the underdog. Most recently over the past 2 years we've started rescuing horses with my partner in crime, Marie Heppner of Ironsides Animal Rescue. It has been extremely rewarding, although crazy challenging at times, work that we've done. Through generous donations and help that each of you provide we are able to help more animals... We give them a soft place to land, get them healthy, give them love and then ensure they have a forever home.❤️❤️

We have a Giving tree up at Johnson Feed!! This tree will benefit all the animals that we support at Iron Sides Animal Rescue and Superman's Salvation Animal Rescue. On the tree are ornaments for each animal. You can purchase anything in the store for them because it’s FULL of items they would love!! Or you can drop off items not found in store under the tree and we will send some rescue elves out to collect!! ❤️🎄

Check out this Giving tree Tonic Hair Studio put up!! This tree will benefit all the animals that we support at Iron Sides Animal Rescue and Superman's Salvation Animal Rescue. On the tree are ornaments for each animal. You can purchase items and drop them off at the store and we will send some rescue elves out to collect!! (Unless it’s a hay bale. Please don’t drag hay bales into this beautiful store 😂) Anything too big and bulky can be picked up by us. Arrangments for pick up can be made by texting Marie at 503-369-7227. Thank you!! ❤️🎄

Decorating trees is hard work! All of the dogs thought they needed a nap after. This will be Susie’s second Christmas with us (we rescued her at the beginning of December last year). This will be Stella’s 3rd Christmas with us. Both of these girls have some making up to do from their rough start in life. And Juice (not a rescue, but a dog that needed to be rehomed so we took him in, and a very important part of the rehab process for the other two) will celebrate his 6th Christmas with us. ❤️ They love watching all the action with decoration the trees and Stella supervised the boys setting up the small ones. 😂

Update on the Giving Tree Fundraiser for both Iron Sides Animal Rescue and us at Superman's Salvation Animal Rescue!

We will start delivering trees to the local businesses the weekend after Thanksgiving! Trees will be loaded with ornaments which will have wish list items for that animal. These items can be purchased at some of the businesses and will be picked up by us weekly.

Businesses that have signed up are:

All items and funds raised will go 100% to the rescues we support.

Oh the struggles of being a guard dog… or at least you think you are but you’re really a big marshmallow but have to keep up appearances… and the audacity of a vicious BUNNY and chickens coming up on your back patio!! 😂 Poor Juice can’t press his nose up any harder on the glass doors. Lol!

Kiko’s helper

Oh the things that get sent to me while I’m working…. We have a particularly friendly chicken, and she loves Kiko. She loves to follow him around and beat his little “helper.” Well today he was rearranging the hay shed and this is what I got. 😂

Wanted to give a HUGE thank you to our new (and amazing farrier), Richard Puglisi of Puglisi Farrier Services ! Not only is he taking amazing care of our hooves friends, but teaching Sam a ton. He even taught Sam how to set a hot shoe last time. He took a video of it and made Sam look super cool in the process! 😁

Apparently Sam had lots of “help” when going down to check on Billy Darryl today. 😂

Still coming in for cheek scratches!

Billy Darryl is one tough goat!! He is doing awesome after his surgery yesterday and still coming in to get cheek scratches from Sam since Marie and Jen are at work. 😃

Each day our new sweet girl trusts a bit more.

This sweet girl continues to settle in. She seems to be taking to her new surroundings and is curious about everything going on around her. She always comes right up to the front of the stall to see what everyone is doing, and frequently nickers at us. She is doing great on her refeed program and her body is doing well with the appropriate diet. Tonight she even took her new feed concoction right out of the pan while I was trying to bring it in to her. 🥰

I finally captured Superman doing one of his funny belly itches. The first time I saw him doing it out in the field I almost had a heart attack and thought something was wrong, only to beeline it down to the pasture and discover him having a good old scratch fest. 😂 Goofy horse! #supermanssalvationanimalrescue
