Through generous donations by our supporters we are able to take in, help, heal, care for, and change the lives of animals, mainly focusing on horses. A little bit about me...

Ever since I was a little girl I've had a HUGE passion for animals. I was around 8 or 9 when the first cat wandered to our door step, half starved and hit by a car, and ultimately needing surgery. I begged my parents to kee

p and help him, (my mom can tell you all about the tears and the "can we PLEASE save him" pleading that I did, as well as how he ended up with the title "the million dollar cat" for all of his vet bills.)😂 We ended up saving him and he lived with us for many years. After that I was hooked on helping animals (and honestly just helping others in general... it's probably why I'm a nurse 😉.) Throughout the years I've always loved helping animals in need, supporting causes for abused or neglected animals, and simply just rooting for the underdog. Most recently over the past 2 years we've started rescuing horses with my partner in crime, Marie Heppner of Ironsides Animal Rescue. It has been extremely rewarding, although crazy challenging at times, work that we've done. Through generous donations and help that each of you provide we are able to help more animals... We give them a soft place to land, get them healthy, give them love and then ensure they have a forever home.❤️❤️

Had a wonderful night at the South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Awards ceremony tonight, where we were honored and humbled to be nominated for nonprofit of the year. We are incredibly grateful to have been nominated with some other very deserving nonprofits. We also want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to the Amani Center for winning the award. We are so glad to be a part of this community! ☺️

Bonnie went to another OHSET practice with Sam… and I just love the way her and Marty have become the odd couple… every time she goes he looks for her to come home. As soon as he sees the trailer come around the corner he starts whinnying to her and she whinnies back. 🥰

When running a rescue, saving money where ever you can is a must. We always look for ways to save, make do with things we have etc. Today I was super proud of my oldest son, Sam. Many of you know he’s a huge part of our rescue crew. What you probably don’t know is that he has been learning to weld for a few years now. He started learning from his grandpa before he passed away a little over a year ago. Today, on his first day of spring break and no school, he took one of gate panels over to the shop where his welder is and fixed it. He knows how expensive they are to buy brand new, so he fixed the bottom piece that was broken, and attached a new tube piece that has been broken for a while. He did a great job and it’s back in place. And y’all, did I mention he’s only 15!?!? He can drive almost anything, stick shift, automatic, big or small, it doesn’t matter. I love to joke that Sam can drive just about anything with wheels and a lot of things without. He operates the machinery that my step dad had (he owned an excavation company), and Sam never hesitates to jump in and help anyone when they need help. Just last week he was running the skid steer to help Marie at Iron Sides Animal Rescue get the area ready on the property to get the barn up. To say I’m lucky to have this kid is an understatement. 💕

🎸 We would love to give a huge shout out to the band No Kidn!!! These guys and their families have stepped up and pulled out all the stops to do not one but TWO fundraisers for us!! It has been an amazing help and brought in funds to further help us support the animals in our care. They put on an amazing show and we have enjoyed every chance we get to work with them. So from all of our crazy critters and us, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Big news for our little red head Jolene!! We have had a donor come forward and offer to cover all her hernia surgery costs!! We are blown away by this generosity. It is such a huge help and lifts so much stress off us to have this covered. Her surgery appointment is June 17th. We will drop her off the day before and pick her up the day after. Until then we will continue to halter break and handle this spicy little girl so she can be on her best behavior for the surgical team and in recovery. ❤️‍🩹

📣CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!! 📣
At the Superman's Salvation Animal Rescue and Iron Sides Animal Rescue Mardi Gras Mayhem fundraiser event we had a Best Dressed Krewe contest! We have had a few people post pics of their table guests all dressed up and we have picked a winner! The winner gets a reserved table at our next big fundraiser event in August. And the winner is…. 🥁 🥁 🥁 Wendy Bolen and Krewe!! The entire table was decked out in Mardi Gras Fashion and looked amazing. Thank you to everyone that took part in such a fun night. Here’s a few pics of the winning Krewe!! 😃

Sam took one of the rescue’s minis, Bonnie, to his OHSET competition this weekend and they performed in their first team event: In Hand Obstacle Relay. The team did great, and Sam and Bonnie did great for their first time! Super proud of both of them. 🥰 (Even if the judge was a little surprised to see a one eyed pony walk onto the course.)

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to have a donkey…. Yep, you have a living foghorn the second they see a light turn on in the house or hear a door open. Every morning Julio starts his bellowing bray from his stall saying “gooooood moooorrning!!” 😂🫏

Apparently Stella had a really, REALLY fun snow day with Max. 😂 She made snowman building super easy. So Max gave up and made snowballs instead.
