‼️🚨 ALGAE BLOOM UPDATE 🚨‼️

Since posting about the recent algae bloom Midway has received many phone calls regarding the bloom, unfortunately we do not have anymore information. We have reported the bloom to the Oregon Health Authority (Harmful Algae Bloom Dept). They are aware of the situation in our area. They are coordinating the next steps in sampling. They are not constantly monitoring all bodies of water; they sample when they can and definitely after a harmful algae bloom report. Please do not get into the water nor let your animals in until they say its ok.

⚠️ 🚨WARNING TO ALL CLIENTS 🚨⚠️

It has been reported that there is a toxic algae bloom- an algae bloom is a rapid increase or accumulation in the population of algae in freshwater or marine water systems. It is often recognized by the discoloration in the water from the algae pigments.

The bloom has been reported at the Columbia River.

It can be toxic for animals and humans. Symptoms in canines can appear within 15-20 minutes and include but are not limited to weakness, staggering, convulsions, difficulty breathing and sudden death. If you suspect your pet has ingested the algae or similar symptoms occur please take your pet to an emergency clinic immediately.

We kindly ask to please keep your animals out of the Columbia River.

We have been made aware of one canine death so far. Our deepest condolences to the family.

THE PET OF THE WEEK IS…..

🐻BEAR🐻

This lovable guy is always so happy to come to Midway. He is very loved by the staff and specifically known for his songs in our lobby. Bear is the best patient for his treatments no matter what they might be, he’s always so happy afterwards, and insures we have a smile on our faces from his big personality.

THE PET OF THE WEEK IS…..

👨‍🦯DYSON👨‍🦯

Dyson is the sweetest old man, that sadly had glaucoma in both his eyes resulting in bilateral eye enucleation. Even though he may be blind he sure is still a happy camper! Today we had the pleasure of removing his sutures from his latest enucleation procedure, sporting his new glasses and his fancy new “blind dog” patch his owner got him!

- we will be increasing our No-Show Fee to $45. Due to the increased amount of no shows to scheduled appointments.

- we will also start charging a $15 tech appointment fee for any scheduled tech appointment.
*EXCLUDING
* nail trims
*sub-q fluids
*any special order injections (librela, allergy injections, solensia, adequan, cytopoint, zycortal, etc.)

- we will start charging a $15 No-Show Fee for missed tech appointments as well.

To avoid No-Show fees please call 24 hrs before scheduled appointment to cancel.

Peanut comes in regularly for subcutaneous fluids. Recently little peanut had a dental as well! She is one of Sarah’s many favorites at Midway. She may be a little nervous at times but Sarah works with peanut every time she comes in to make her visits the best she can!

THE PET OF THE WEEK IS…..

🧡Teddy🧡

Teddy is a special boy that stayed at Midway for a few days to allow his abscess to heal. While he was here for his stay we learned he is a professional biscuit maker, and is a very personable cat. We all love Teddy very much and we were very sad to see him go, but thankful his abscess was healed enough he could go home.

Christmas is right around the corner. The staff at midway veterinary hospital are going to be making Christmas cookies for your fur babies. Let us help you fill their stockings. They will be $10.00 a dozen. All proceeds go into our Honeyboy fund. Please have orders in by Dec 15, 2021. We will have a form in the lobby to be filled out.

We are open 7 days a week and do surgeries 5 days a week. Looking for dedicated employees willing to assist doctors in rooms while seeing appointments and assisting in surgery when needed. Must have experience in phlebotomy, IVC placement, digital radiography, in-house laboratory equipment, monitoring anesthesia, intubation/extubation, as well as communicating with clients in person and over the phone, and inputting client/patient information into the computer.
