Hello everyone I would like a minute or two of your time to introduce myself. My name is Dodge and I am told I am about 3 years old. Oh and I am also a little boy only weighing about 26 pounds so I don't take up a lot of space. I have now called Paws my home for the last 628 days. I came here after I was found down in Starbrick dodging cars and boy let me tell you was that ever scary! I do know it is hard for me to trust men but if they are patient and take their time with me I know I will end up loving them! I also like kids but kids 10 and older would be the best for me because I know at that age they would know to go slow with me and let me come to them on my own terms. I do like other dogs with a proper introduction and same with cats. Now I have heard people talk about black dogs not being very desired so I am not sure if that is why I am still here, or maybe it is because I am so shy and not like some of my friends who will run up to strangers and want to be their friend right away, I am just too shy for that right now. Or do you think my ears might be the problem? Some of my friends have made fun of my ears outside in the play yard but I don't ever tell on them because I just want them to be my friends. So if a plain, big ears, shy, but with the potential to have the biggest heart is what you need in your family then I am your guy! Please stop down to Paws located at 212 Elm St. in Warren PA and fill out an adoption application. I promise if you are patient with me we will become best friends and we will be snuggling on the couch in no time! Although I really love everyone here at Paws but I would really love a family of my own before I hit my 2 year mark of being here!

ADOPTIONS THIS PAST WEEK!!!!
What a busy week we have had here at PAWS! All of these sweet babies have been adopted! We wish all of them the best of luck in their new homes with their new families. Thank you to everyone who has adopted! Adopters are the real stars around here who give these animals a second chance at a happily ever after and we could not do our jobs here without you!

Does anyone recognize this girl? (the dog that is) Our friends over at Great Dames Trap & Recover trapped this girl in the Sugar Grove area and she is now here at Paws waiting for her owner to come get her.

UPDATE: both have been ADOPTED!!!

We had the kindest couple come in today and said they would like to sponsor the adoption fee on our two longest cat residents! Cricket was brought into Paws in April of 2023 and is approximately 6 years old now. Albert was brought to Paws in May of 2023 and is approximately 3 years old now. If you are interested in adopting either of these sweet babies their adoption fee has been covered and they are ready for their new homes. If you have other pets in the home you will need to provide us with proof of spay or neuter and proof of current rabies when you come down to adopt. We will be open tomorrow from 12-3 if you would like to meet them!

We are in great need of flea medicine for our cats and kittens. We are only looking for these brands as the ones you buy at stores such as Dollar General do not work and can cause the kitties to become ill. If you have any of these pictured sitting at home we would gladly take it off your hands or we will even except Walmart gift cards to be able to buy some. Please look at the pounds on the box we are looking for the ones for smaller cats.

We are looking for dedicated, hardworking, reliable employees to join our staff. Weekends are a must! Although you will not be working every weekend you must be available to be scheduled on weekends as well as weekdays. We are looking for part time and full time employees. We will be very honest in saying this job is hard and it is a dirty job but it is a vital part of our operation. There is p**p involved so if you are applying please make sure you can handle that. Please do not apply if you are not reliable. Our animals depend on staff to be here 7 days a week to clean and feed them. You must be 18 to apply and out of school as this job requires availability during day time hours. A positive attitude is a must. You must also be able to work quickly and without constant supervision. Pay is $12.00 an hour. If you are interested please stop down to the shelter today between 12:30-4:30 or tomorrow (Saturday) between 12-3 to fill out an application. We are looking to fill positions immediately.

Paws Along The River is excited to announce Jodi Streich-Hollabaugh as the new Executive Director. Jodi, her husband Gavin, and children live in Warren and are involved in our community. Jodi became part of Paws several months ago and is very passionate about our shelter and dedication to the care of the animals in Warren County. Jodi has a working knowledge of both the shelter and store, and the needs of our community. She is looking forward to Paws' continued involvement in the community and helping Warren County's animals in need. Paws appreciates the community's overwhelming support for all the new changes being made and moving forward to benefit both the animals and community.

How in the world is Ranger still here? He is so sweet and so cute I just do not understand how no one has adopted him yet! We are closed on Wednesdays, but will be here Thursday and Friday from 12:30-4:30 and Saturday from 12-3. Someone come get this sweet little boy, you will be so glad you did!

Hello future family my name is Carson and I would like to take a minute or two out of your day to tell you a little bit about me. I am 3 1/2 years old and I have now called Paws my home for 2 years and 6 days. That is 736 days I have patiently waited for a family to call my own. I like female dog friends, males not so much and if you have any kids for me to play with I would like them to be 8 or older so I don't knock them down because I love to play! I am getting so sad sitting here watching all of my other friends leave with their new families but I haven't lost all hope yet, I just know the right family is out their for me to. My adoption fee has been sponsored so it wouldn't even cost anything to come get me and we could go to Tractor Supply on the way home to get me some food (they are dog friendly "wink"). So if you think you might have a spot on the couch for me to cuddle up next to you then stop down to 212 Elm St. in Warren, PA and fill out an adoption application. Just tell those nice girls that work there that you want to see me and they will bring me out to meet you! I can't wait to kiss your face, see you soon!

These two little boys are up for adoption today and are awaiting their forever home. 2 male parakeets "Elton John" & "Boy George" Cage comes with birds but they should be upgraded to a bigger cage once they are adopted. Come on down and fill out an adoption application for them. Their adoption fee is $30 for the pair.

Paws Along The River regrets to inform you that our Executive Director has given her resignation due to health reasons. We appreciate her time with us and wish her well. Fortunately, we have a very hard working, knowledgeable staff that are running the shelter. Business as usual. PAWS is currently working on moving forward to care for our animals that need our help.

Who is in need of working cats? These kitties would make a great addition to your barn or property to help control the rodent population and since they are already spayed you don't have to worry about any kittens in the future! Rockael Jamieson owner of Wet Paws Grooming in Warren reached out to us and offered free grooming services to all 6 of the Yorkies before they are put up for adoption. 3 of the 6 were done today including Gunner who is now up for adoption. I reached out in hopes I could groom these guys since they have been through so much. It was a great pleasure to work with these guys and get them all nice and clean before their forever homes!

Helpings animals has always been a passion of mine since I was little. Spread a little kindness to the homeless animals you see because not every dog or cat gets to be with a loving home.

Gunner goes up for adoption today at 12:30. He is between 2 and 3 years old. Will do best in a home with kids over the age of 8 years old. Placement in a new home for Gunner will be done by best match and not on a first come first serve basis. If you have other dogs in the home they will have to come to the shelter for a meet and greet and also have proof of spay or neuter and proof of a current rabies. If you have a cat in your home you must bring proof of spay or neuter and current rabies. We will open at 12:30 until 4:30 today.

Here is Lyndi's bio from our website. I'm a beautiful brindle hound-mix pup looking for a strong, energetic owner to share my life with. I love to walk, but being a hound I MUST sniff EVERYTHING. I enjoy playing and get along well with other dogs, but absolutely NO CATS for me! I am smart and have tons of potential. I would do great in an obedience class to help me learn some manners. I will require plenty of exercise, so an active owner is a must.

5 Steps to adopt a pet

5 Easy Steps for Adopting a Pet 🐱🐶 Step 1: Complete and submit an adoption information form online or we can mail a form to you. Please be sure to include images of living space as instructed on the form. Step 2: Our adoption team will contact you after your information is received and processed. We will set up a meet and greet appointment giving you and your family one on one attention to find your perfect match. Step 3: After a pet is chosen, all health records are updated and spay and neuter surgery is complete, the pet is ready for a pet visit in your home for 12-15 days. This trial period is where you can see first-hand what the pet will be like in your home. Step 4: Any behavior or medical concerns are given top priority during your pet trial period. If the pet is not a good match, it is returned to PAWS and we look for another match. Step 5: An adoption is scheduled via mail or in person so we can finalize all paperwork.
