Please help these animal rescues who are out helping the affected areas of hurricane Helene. There’s so many displaced animals and these people are doing everything they can. These are independent organizations so the money donated or goods goes right to the animals in need! Even $1 will help!!

It’s going to be very hot this coming week. Please don’t walk your dogs or let them outside for too long, especially in the afternoon when it’s hottest. Remember dogs can only sweat through their feet and pant to cool, but if they get over heated it’s so hard to get them cool again and this can turn into an emergency quickly. So do some twilight walks this week and enjoy those sunsets!!

“Every Time”

Every time you say vets are money grubbing or ‘too expensive’ or just in it for the money,

Every time you decline all diagnostics, yet demand to know “what’s wrong with my pet”,

Every time at a social function or other completely inappropriate place you find out that someone is a vet you ask them for free advice about your animal,

Every time you feel justified posting a s&^**y practice or vet review when everything was done according to the standard of care but your pet died anyway,

Every time YOUR lack of preventative care resulted in your pet’s early death, yet you blame the veterinarian,

Every time she gets in early and stays late and works an 80-hour week because your pet that had been ill for days suddenly becomes an emergency at 5pm on a Friday, and you demand to be seen, claiming these heartless vets won’t treat your baby,

Every time someone complains about the cost of veterinary care, comparing human medicine and insurance subsidies to pet ownership,

Every time someone doesn’t pay their bill and thinks they are entitled not to because pet ownership is their “right”,

Every time someone walks in to a clinic and threatens to “sue your ass if you make one mistake with my baby”,

Every time a graduate vet looks at the hundreds of thousands of dollars in crippling debt and listens to clients driving Mercedes and BMWs complain about the cost of a spay using good anesthetic care and adequate pain management,

Every time – You are part of the problem.

The problem is su***de in veterinarians. Most of us went to veterinary school because we care. We have a calling to care, but there is a dark and expensive cost to compassion.

Think before you act or speak.

Corn cobs are the #1 foreign body requiring surgery we see in veterinary practice! Every year we see multiple cases, and both the cost and the time it takes your pet to recover are substantial. Pancreatitis is the other huge problem we see around holidays with rich food, because people can't help but want to share with their pets. We know you love them, but please don't feed them your leftovers! An uncomplicated case of pancreatitis is a minimum of a $1500-3000 veterinary bill. Keep your pets (and you wallets) safe from harm by avoiding these pitfalls! We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!! ❤🦃🌽🥕🥔🍗🦃

I’m pet sitting for a friend for 9 days this week. These boys are good but do have some issues with anxiety, especially River (Silver Lab). He doesn’t like people other than his own family, always been this way, but is friendly and wants love from others. It’s a tricky situation because there is a fine line for fear biting and sometimes most dogs don’t show clear signs. I’m lucky that this boy is the sweetest and doesn’t bite, just barks at you until he is exhausted. So when I got here Friday night I placed an Adaptil collar on River and plugged in a wall defuser in the living room.

This product is amazing for many different behavior issues from barking, anxiety, separation anxiety, travel anxiety, vet anxiety, and for my own dog it helped him adjust when I rescued him a year ago. If you have a cat with anxiety, behavior issues, improperly urinating (check with your vet for a urinalysis first), please consider using Feliway!

The travel spray is great for a boost or the car! Don’t spray on pet and let the area “marinate” for 10 minutes. You can also make a “treat bomb” as I call them. A large piece of paper towel, spray, crumple treats, hold in a ball for 2-3 minutes to let it “marinate”, give to pet for calming effects.

The wipes are good for spot boosts or to put in a muzzle when needed. Also can be used to wipe down furniture and bedding, car or visitor’s clothes.
