Avoid dog training camps, doggy boot camps and board and train facilities that claim to "do all the hard work". The respect your dog gives you will ONLY come from the work and time YOU put into the dog.

Basic obedience is so much more than teaching your dog some handy tricks. These commands set a strong foundation and build trust and respect in your relationship with your pup.
If you’re just getting started, looking for a brush-up, or anything in between, we can help.
The five basic obedience commands are the foundation all other training commands can be built on. Not only are they important to your dog's safety but also the safety of your guests who may interact with your dog.
Obedience is also a great way to help fulfill your dog mentally and physically.

As the cooler weather approaches many dog owners find themselves witnessing their dog’s behavior and energy heating up! Cooler weather for nearly every breed is always a good thing. Most breeds were developed with cooler weather conditions in mind. Breeds like the Saint
Hello friends and alumni family. We have a unique situation where we are trying to help a client and fellow veteran find safe, stable homes for an accidental litter of puppies as soon as possible. The information that the owner has shared with us is below along with photos of each of the puppies. If you are interested and able to adopt immediately, please fill out the interest form.
Here is the information that the owner has shared with us:
- 8 total puppies are available; 7 male, 1 female
- 10 weeks old (as of 8/7/23)
- German Shepherd (possibly German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix)
Please note that we are only helping with gathering strong leads for these pups. We will not be involved in the adoption process.
Training with us is not required to adopt. But we will be offering a discounted rate on obedience training packages for these dogs to help ease the transition and set them up for success.
Feel free to share. We will update this post when the intake window has closed.

This is Benny! Benny’s owner surly put in the work for this handsome fella. Don’t make obedience training your second job, make it fun for both you and your furry family member.
In honor of national pet day I want to showcase this puppers. This wonderful guys name is Ace. He was rescued by a wonderful couple from some pretty terrible conditions. Mister Ace only knew a barn stall prior to his adoption. He was very timid. When I first met him he was hiding under an end table 😞. Look how far this amazing guy has come. We are now in his confidence building stage. His first official distraction training was amazing. I love building skills and confidence in dogs. Seeing them grow and realize that the world isn’t a scary place is truly and honor for me as a trainer . We do not deserve these amazing creatures.
This week’s blog question is one of the most common issues dog owners face…jumping! Depending on the size of the dog, jumping can be a very dangerous behavior. Early in my dog training career I had a client hire me specifically because her 35lb terrier jumped on her coming home,
Regular dog walks not only give your dog the physical exercise they need but helps improve the bond between you and your fur human. So strap on those rain boots today in our wonderful Pittsburgh weather and enjoy a nice walk with your doggo.
If you hate having issues with pulling or reactivity feel feee to reach out to us for a consultation!
This week’s question revolves around some very important leadership traits for your dog. Calm and assertive. Dogs will not follow unstable pack leaders or ones with emotional extremes. As trainers we often find ourselves in situations with lots of emotion from humans.
Doggo shout out of the day goes to Gus.
🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾Herding breeds are typically industrious, athletic, energetic, focused, highly intelligent, fast learners and loyal. These traits describe dogs who require daily exercise, both mental and physical, for their well-being. Gus was having a few little issues his mom and dad were not sure how to handle. With in a few session and some confidence building in both human and dog he really has turned it around and even learned some fun new tricks in the process
This cutie is Benji the Basenji!
🐕🐶🐾🦴🐕🦺🐩🦮🐕🐶🦴🐾🐶🐕🐾🦮🐶
The Basenji, Africa's 'Barkless Dog,' is a compact, sweet-faced hunter of intelligence and poise. They are unique and beguiling pets, best for owners who can meet their exercise needs and the challenge of training this catlike canine.
This sweetheart is miss Thumbelina. Her parents were a little nervous to introduce her to their new frenchie puppy (that is also starting puppy training). Sometimes having a trainer come out when tensions are a little high help ease everyone. I love helping dog owners feel comfortable and confident.

Hello, Pittsburgh!
I just want to give a quick introduction as the Lead Dog trainer here at Always Faithful Dog Training of Pittsburgh.
Im a native Pittsburger, born and raised. At the age of 17 I ran off and joined the circus haha (military). I spent a little over 12 years in the USAF. I was a Military Working Dog Handler. I worked both explosive and narcotic detection/patrol(bittey) dogs. By far the best job on the face of the planet!! Dogs has been my passion for the last 13 years. I couldn't be more excited to bring my knowledge back to the Burg to continue what I love to do!
This week’s question was one I have thought about for a very long time. What makes a good dog? Is it their level of obedience? Is it their good looks? Is it their size? Once again, we have a situation where opinions can vary. Humans are normally very forgiving to their dogs, even over their ow
